The first two words out of my mouth--when I first saw the faces in the hexes, Uncle Momo talking, all the faces speaking at once, Joe E Sparks talking to Black Pegasus, and Ren doing his Money Game rap--was "Holy s***!" And then my eyes started tearing up. This is pure genius, the amount of hard work and creativity that went into this (on top of Ren's genius) blows me away! Instant sub!

Whoa!! Greatest reaction compilation of all time! I can't imagine how tedious that must have been and the genius tooling you created to accomplish it. Great attention to detail. Even simply exploiting the reactor's angle to make it look like a proper audience all looking at the ten on stage. Bloody well done my good man. Bravo.

I had never heard of a reaction video until Ren. Now I watch them regularly.
For example, I knew just about every single reactor that contributed something to the videos. I shared this video in Rens Patreon chat. I think it’s a terrific concept. I really enjoyed it as far as seeing the bigger picture and opening up dialogue. Great job. I hope you succeed in what you’re attempting to do here. I’ve liked and subscribed to follow along and see.
Me too! And its ironic, because professionally I design communication systems that better support active listening. And reactions are one of the only genres of media I've seen that elevates active listening. So why did it take me until the year 2023 to learn about them!?!?

I've watched reaction videos for years, but only subscribed to about 10 of them. Ever since I discovered Ren in March 2023, I went crazy and subbed to countless numbers of reactors, including Resoundio, all reacting to Ren. I think Ren himself opened up the reactor floodgate by supporting them the way he does. He's smarter than the music industry at large, imho.
@@ClearTheRubble7😂 same - I think I subbed to about 5 reaction channels before Feb 2023…I’ve now added maybe 150 …because of Ren :)
This is so much fun! I ended up a few inches away from my TV scooting around all the heads I've grown to know. Love when there's a punchline delivered, or a scheme that's fire and they all cut loose 😁😆😄Hilarious.
Highlight was MG2 and Hollywood_6ix from Rappers React singing out the last 4 words of the nursery rhyme scheme "on the sea shore!" followed by a "God dammmmn!" 😂🤣This was awesome well done
Oh my, I so love hearing about how you experienced this! And I love hearing your favorite part! My favorite part may have been Fischtank yelling out "THE SONG HASN'T EVEN STARTED!" like 2 min into MG3, or later in MG3 when Ren screeches "Stop the music!" and someone responds "The music was going fine..."
@@Resoundio Yeah I didn't catch who said that at the start of MG3, but I could remember it being said in one of the reacts. I've clocked up some numbers in watching Ren react vids and don't want to know just how many tbh hahaha. There's a treasure chest of one liners bursting from the gallery and at least double the number of funny heads being pulled throughout. Will take a few watches I to catch them all. Shout out to Anthony Ray aka Mr smoother than Belgian chocolate throwing a nice little impromptu master class in beatboxing and breath work techniques. Impressive. I'm not sure if you have done this with Hi Ren also? I remember a few thumbnails for what I thought might be compilation videos but actually watch any of them. Reason I ask is that after watching maybe a dozen or so Hi Ren react videos I could see a bit of a reaction pattern emerging, one early in the song just after his guitar intro. When Ren opens his mouth for the first time and out pours the woooo woooo woooo's, there's a look many of them give that's like "9 minutes of whaaaat?", Ren then goes about his alchemy and almost at the opposite bookend and immediately following the OMG and he can sing moment he pauses, then breaks into the woooos woooos woooosonce more. This time though there are no strangers and the reactors seemingly shell shocked respond without thinking and it happens in the majority of the videos, they start headbanging in a bop. It's a cool moment to watch and perfectly demonstrates the impact Ren and his masterpiece has on these guys, before they can catch some composure and speak again. It reminded me a little of the iconic car scene with Queen in Wayne's World. It does feel iconic and I remembered thinking those two parts as a compilation would be really cool to watch and may raise a smile or even a chuckle.
@@achebwahs1111 Yes, there are a few intimate Hi Ren compilations out there, but not from me. The only other one I've published so far is for Fire (ua-cam.com/video/ysHjYl4qy-0/v-deo.html).
When I do Hi Ren, I'm going include maybe 400-500 reactions.
We're on the same page with the Hi Ren dynamics for sure. I love seeing the patterns in reactions emerge, and have noticed something similar. Hi Ren is especially compelling because it is most of the reactors' first exposure to Ren, and thus is almost a conversion experience. That will be theme of that reaction monument, and I hope to make the conversions really clear. But for now, I'm working my way up to Mt Hi Ren. Still feels a bit intimidating.

Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you liked my choices. At this point, picking the interjections is one of the main holdups on making these things more rapidly. I'd like to crowdsource this a bit though, and make the selection of which interjections best capture the emotional resonance of songs and insights about the lyrics and craft something that many fans can participate in. Then it can be more of a community commemoration of a work of art, using reactions as a sort of medium.

That's great :) I consider this a bit of art, playing with time, trying to create a sense of co-presence even if none of us actually there in space or time.
@Resoundio yeah it's a good concept. It's different than anything I've seen. And yeah, it's like they are all watching at the same time, but they aren't, so it's a bit like time bending. Haha.
I love how REN has people talking. There's no age to his music, even though in this one he counts the ages many people can see themselves in those stages. Looking at ourselves & how we got here many can relate but I think we're waking up & realizing we can get back on track & make a change.
This takes a lot of work. It's amazing to see what this has brought out from people. He woke me up with Hi REN & changed my life. I've also gotten a lot of hope watching all the people's reactions. Because he speaks to so many I've learned a lot from people reactions. You are very talented yourself. I will keep track of you.

And your concept of using a similar structure/platform in other ways feels so impactful. Wow this is amazing! I don't know how you managed this but it sure is different. I love that I recognize at least 98% of the reactors in those hexagons. Reminds me of a honey comb and this hive was buzzin! 🐝 I also love seeing who is sitting motionless, intrigued, watching & listening with great intent so they don't miss a word and who is bopping around when there is a beat and being very animated. I love Ren watching Knox Hill's reaction and his face light up when Knox Hill is on point. The reactor at the end, Jamel aka Jamal is one of the first reactors that I listened to. He's an awesome person! "It's all about treating people with respect... People need to listen more" He's so right! Just be a good human 💯 ❤

I saw your first concert, Fire, with your son and was impressed, but this was huge. I can't imagine how much work and time this took you! I love your vision, your look at the big picture. This piece is inspirational! I just hope it makes it through the algorithm so people can see it. Good luck to you and making your vision into our reality. One more thing, The React Twins, reactors, are great supporters of Ren's and have done so many of his works. They may have been under your radar, so I just wanted to put that out there in case you do another one of these.
Graham and I will be releasing a bunch more lighter concerts soon, now that this one is done, whew! Thanks for the tip on The React Twins, I'll specifically seek them out on future concerts. UA-cam search, including from the API, makes it really hard to find all the reactions.

Ren does offer a solution... its in the following verses of the song.... we could build utopias if individuals were taught to use their brains but if we teach kids in schools to always be sheep and put themselves before the heard if there's more money for me.... Just think what Jimmy could have done if his father would have instilled some better values and morals while still nurturing his intelligence... and Jimmy's just an exaggerated version of us 😉

Hi! Thank you for this. I agree that Jimmy definitely could have thrived with a different message, acceptance, and love. And we should definitely be teaching the kids better! I'm more of the persuasion that even the frame of teacher/student is a bit problematic, inducing hierarchy & obedience early on. I try to practice "co-learning" with kids, exploring together with them (see e.g. this little program I put together: traviskriplean.com/an-informal-curriculum-for-hom-fx1md). I like the unschooling movement.
That said, I just don't see it as a "solution". More of a gesture in a direction. It is too individuated, while the problem is complex and systemic. You can't address complex social issues solely with individuated responses. Pointing the finger at individuals is one of the common strategies that the status quo powers that be frequently use to absolve themselves of accountability (think e.g. the fossil fuel industry's successful campaign to establish the idea of a "carbon footprint" to shift the conversation from a societal issue to an individual one). These issues require both systemic and individual interventions.

First, individuals do learn to use their brains! Unfortunately, the broader money game we're embedded in distorts us to use our brains in clever ways that maximize individual gain (often via short term gains for an organization). Our system socializes losses (e.g. bailouts) and privatizes gains. We have an abundance of individual intelligence, it is just incentivized in foolish ways! We need far more collective wisdom.
Second, utopias can't be built. Utopia means "no place" in its Greek roots. They generally demand perfection. Real life complex systems can only actually achieve a balancing of tensions. Utopian literature from Thomas More's Utopia to B.F. Skinner's Walden 2 generally reflect this by never describing a feasible path from the current system to the utopian society. Instead, they spend the whole time describing how the perfect society operates. As someone who often coaches people striving to build new social systems, there are few worse ways to go about creating change than to try to design a utopia. Instead, we need to build a bridge to a more balanced society that isn't undermining the conditions that give rise to life (Ren has called this homeostasis on several occasions).
If you're interested, I just pinned a comment to the top of this thread that is more in line with my perspective on Ren's orientation to a "solution" here. Maybe I'm just being too pedantic on this?

This is pretty incredible. If you do more Ren, I’d happily consult on where to pop out interesting insights…I’ve watched all these and more, and have a pretty good memory for who I thought had really interesting things to say across his discography.
I will DEFINITELY take you up on that. I would like to crowdsource a lot of the choices about what are meaningful and insightful interjections, so that these reaction concerts become even more of an expression of community.
Chalk outlines would be a cool one to do…a bit shorter and less daunting, but so munch interesting commentary.
One thing that jumped out to me when looking at all the MG3 reactions, was the very stark difference between how men interpreted the influence of the father compared to women. Many men got to age 18 thinking that the dad was giving good life advice, but most women instantly picked up the menace in his voice and threw up red flags. Cool that you picked out Peter Barber’s analysis of the vocal technique he used to create that “menacing” voice.
I’ve had a similar overall reaction to Ren as you since first hearing him about a year ago. Kicking myself for not instantly starting a reaction channel (I had just wound down an unrelated reaction channel and just didn’t have it in me to start again.
Have a feeling that you and I could talk for hours about what Ren has done. For background, I’m a 50 year old father of 2 daughters in the San Francisco Bay Area who has dabbled in DIY punk and metal bands since my teens. I know exactly how hard it is to hone each one of the skills that Ren has honed, and am floored by the breadth and depth of his ability, and his overall message of hope, empathy, and community.
