Full of life in this interview. I think the traumatic brain injury he sustained really, really affected him far more than people realize. It can not only affect your senses, but your temper, choices, etc. It likely brought on depression which is common with TBI's. He was definitely struggling and we all have to remember that and appreciate the time we had to enjoy his music, etc. Such a great talent.

You're very right, it definitely affected him and his behavior, he developed anger issues, he also lost his sense of taste which made him very frustrated and depressed, I can't imagine not being able to taste my food to get a sense of satisfaction, plus him and Paula were not good for each other, he lost himself in drugs and sex addiction, and couldn't handle Paula's ex-husband, so sad all around

@@SXI96 what upset Michael more than the loss of taste, was the loss of smell. In several interviews after his death, several of his friends remarked that Michael had said how hard it was to "have a child and not be able to smell her." So sad.

Michael was already struggling and in trouble before the second interview with Paula. While his brain injury was devastating, He chose to keep it to himself. He chose to use all those drugs. He chose to fall in love with a woman who would do ANYTHING he wanted. What man wouldn't be tempted. I only wish she had been totally honest with him from the start. But then, he wasn't honest with her either, was he?

Here he talks about spending more 'time' in England, of course this comes true, but as it turns out 'not so great' for him. Still, so much humble appeal he has here. So amazing on all levels.

"People are staying in Australiar". He was so authentically Aussie! I also love how he thinks before he speaks. You'll occasionally hear him go "mmm" before he answers a question. Text book delay method! He was so intelligent, but still had that fun side. So sad what happened to him. It was so unfair to him, his loved ones and the world. One of the best natural singing voices EVER. Silenced too soon.
    ✌ & ❤ Michael

Michael looks so happy back then... substance abuse along with alcohol abuse and life's many pressures (and let's not forget the relentless british press) sure did a number on him -I do not think he even realized what was happening to him. So sad... he thought he had a handle on everything. I wish someone would have told him he needed to get some help -although it was the year 1997 and not as common for famous people to seek medical assistance like they do now. RIP Mike

There are 2 videos of that rehearsal. Even more, I highly recommend the documentary
MYSTIFY, by Richard Lowenstein. When asked who his best friend was, Michael replied "Richard, but I don't think he knows it."
It's a fabulous documentary showing who the real Michael Hutchence was. Very sad, I won't lie. But if you admire Michael at all, you owe it to him to watch it, so you can tell any naysayers they don't know what they're talking about. It's his legacy told by the people who knew him best...including Michael himself.

"Interviewer: 'Michael, are you really the Wild Colonial Boy?'
Michael: 'Well, I've done a lot of soul-searching...a lot of soul-searching...a lot of soul-searching...'"
    - Lines taken from an imaginary interview, with an imaginary vision of Michael Hutchence, in some version of the 1980's that was quite left out of the nostalgia t.v specials.
