I was a great jet pilot on console, but for a while I haven't been able to live up to my former glory. These key bindings will really help me. These tips completely apply to BF4 too, which is great since that game is a big reason I upgraded to PC.
you can use Audacity and under effects it has a "Noise Removal" effect, if you highlight a section of just pure static it will go through and just about completely remove the noise, works really well.
Great vid. Nice to know that you can do well with the stock key bindings. I have used that setup since 1942 but always get out maneuvered. I tried other setups, but i never really liked them. I think the low sensitivity is a great idea with the additional key bindings you suggested. Thanks!
Thanks Sturdy. I'm one of the new subscribers and I'd love to see the missile dodging tutorial you mentioned, but I'd also really like to see some advanced dogfighting strategies, prioritising targets, target aquisition etc as well as general beast mode flying. Apologies if you have covered some of these already in your channel, but I haven't had a chance to go through them all yet. I'm loving the jets in BF3 but I realise I am only just starting to get a handle on flying them. Thanks :)
Afterburner away and hit ECM at the right time. Guided rockets are slow and are easily outrun, while heat seeking rockets are distracted by careful use of ECM jammer and tight turns.
How do you defend your helicopter against enemy jets? Do you prefer staying low and fast, trying to out maneuver them, or do you try to heat seeker them before engaging ground targets? I would maybe like a video of evasive tactics that you use to fight off enemy jets strafing you. Thanks and really like your content.
I'm an experienced jet pilot and I know the ropes pretty well, but one thing that I always have trouble with is in a dog fight, when you go into circles to get behind the other jet. Could you do a video outlining how to break the circle and speed to use in this etc? And good luck with the channel!
Awesome vid Sturdy! Looking forward to more. Have you ever tried using an xbox controller to fly jets? I find it gives me a lot better maneuverability when dog fighting while keeping my mouse for ground targets. I'd love to see some air combat tricks to lose and get behind you opponent. Keep 'em coming
This is actually my first commentary, the rest of my videos are basically montages. I will upload live commentaries in the future and more of these advice videos, thank you for the feedback! I need ideas to make more videos and you guys are my motivation! -Sturdy
I did learn something with this awesome video, i didn't know that guided missil locks on SOFLAM, that will help me alot! Thanks Sturdy :D Keep up the great videos!
Good pilots in BF series always fascinated me, although I'm total and complete crap in a jet, and just slightly better in a heli. Amazing flying man, I'm hoping to learn a lot from you ;)
Like the sound of your idea for episode 2. I'd like tips on more ways to dodge stingers and heat seekers other than turning to face them. In a future episode I'd like tips on maintaining turning speed while looping and correct timing for breaking and afterburner during looping.
If you're on PC, it's the right mouse button. On console I think it's one of the D-Pad buttons. Not exactly sure though. The binding to look for is 'free look'. -Sturdy
hey sturdy that video was not bad at all for being your very first comm. I think the dodging series would be excellent I've never seen anybody post a tutorial about that before.
if you are chasing other jet, then you have to break the loop. Like you are on vertical loop, do 90degree turn on horisontal and do half horisontal loop
I have been trying to improve my jet skills as they are very lacking. so you couldn't have fallen into my lap at a better time. cant wait for future videos.
In addition to dodging heatseekers and javelins can you also make a video on dogfighting techniques such as loosing a jet that is on your tail. Awesome job and keep it coming.
Id love an explanation of the HUD, i cant find any decent ones that explain all the numbers and everything and what they are used for. Also great video man keep them up and im sure ull gain even more subs
i can handle myself pretty well in a jet but i really have trouble learning how to do the rolling scissor maneuver it would be great to make a video on that
Hey sturdy, I find it easy to lose AA missiles and launched javelins with ECM jammer by going below radar and as the missile try's to hit you it smashes into the ground. It's very effective for attack heli's.
Awesome video, very helpful, like others have said you're a bit hard to hear, but otherwise I found this incredibly helpful. I've steered clear of jets and choppers in BF3 simply because I'm afraid of trying to fly them in an actual game as it wouldn't really help the team if I'm constantly crashing or being blown out of the sky.
I only play on PC, I've tried console before but I suck at it xD. A lot of the tips I will cover will transfer over to console though, so stay tuned :) -Sturdy
sturdy i was of the many that came from levels chan.. keep these vids coming bro .. ive seen many jet uploads but your f-35 vid was just so fucking entertaining! im hooked :)
First thing first, try getting a better youtube user name! It's very hard to find you without lvl's link... Jets are one of the most complex weapons in bf3 and have a lot of fine aspects that you should cover. Even so, consider starting off with other basic stuff, like optimal turn speed and how to maintain it (especially in loops), target prioritization, effective strafe lines, disabled landings, how to deal with AA-s and choppers, low altitude flying, etc. Can't wait for these episodes.
On Rush jets I use flares and guided missile to take out SOFLAMs. The cannon is powerful enough to kill anything. Rocket pods take too long compared to the cannon. -Sturdy
I'd like to hear your opinion on using a joystick vs mouse/KB for flying. Have you come across a joystick that can approach the mouse/KB for accuracy? If you **were** to use a joystick, what would you recommend?
How about some tips about taking down other jets (i mean once you are locked in flying circles around one another). If im against a really good jet i often loose.
nice work man, really enjoy the vids.i play on Xbox live on hardcore mode, and would really like to see more hardcore air vehicle sessions.thanks keep up the good work! :0. PS Level Cap sent me
Please make a tutorial on turning and maintaining the speed. In Levelcap's video you said you try to stay at 315 but I find that very hard to do. Any tips on that would be amazing :)
Lookin forward to more vidz, I would like some help with evasion tactics, I really struggle to get away once a guy is on my tail, also when is the best time to flaire?
My request is on speed control, if you could show on your keyboard how you control speed or explain how you control speed specially in 3D view, and also about advanced evasive maneuvers (specially the sccissors), which hopefully you will cover in the future
Hey sturdy do you still use mouse while firing the jets weapons? I am asking because I tried going keyboard only and can't seem to get on target. by the way I am an awful pilot but have managed a few good runs I want to get good but I am struggling hard, looking forward to more vids, came from lvl's channel.
Hmm I was thinking of what LvLCap mentioned in his video that you ´land a lot and repair your plane, but I have not quite figured out when to do that. Is it good to repair your plane when you are at 70% or 60% or when is a good time to land and repair your plane?
You change your kit after gaining airfield/AA control, does that mean you expect to die from infantry or perhaps crash on purpose? It would seem that someone of your skill would stay alive after gaining aircontrol in a game.
just met you in game on kharg rush, you owned everyone. would love to see a tutorial on defending kharg in a jet. i think you went like 33 and 1. - on the flip side, how can a chopper take you out?
we already have thousands of dodging and basics tutorials. Cover some more advanced stuff, like dogfights. And not only for PC players, think about consoles too. Like how to manage your speed without looking etc
I always use Air Radar/ECM/Rocket Pods for ALL Jets. I feel Guided Missile is useless because not only does it take too long to reload, it doesn't do enough damage and it likes to lock on to unoccupied vehicles even when I'm not looking at them... ECM ALWAYS saves me from choppers. I know flares can do the same, but sometimes, you'll have those instances where you're too close to the chopper for the flare to now work and have the missile connect. I'd rather have the chopper not being able to s
How do you turn quickly because i'm using the same keybindings as u but i don't seem to turn as quickly and sharply as you hence i get shot down by a jet in a dog fight from behind. Do you also move your mouse or just spacebar or spacebar and A (to turn left etc)
just to add MrSeekit's post, jets and aa are the biggest nuisance. If you could do videos on how to go from noob level to more advanced level in dogfighting, tips on taking out aa, and your thought process - would be great if you showed a full game live commentary with jet.
I would like to know how to successfully break off a circle when me and another jet is circling around one another in a dog fight, im on ps3 and and I always have an issue with that
Awesome stuff. Your an amazing pilot. Definitely want to see a tutorial on dodging heatseakers. Also any dog fight tactics would be great. Target priority. What you do when your in a circle (jerk) fight with another pilot etc.. Thx
I'm getting a mid range asus laptop soon, so I was curious what you could do with key bindings. I play on console, so there isn't really any room for personal setups. God I can't wait to play on pc.
Could you do a video on turn speeds for each jet? I remember you talking about it on LvLcap's video but I find that sometimes I go too fast or slow and I either crash or get taken out, and with the F35 while dogfighting I always go into hover mode (I'm on PS3 but it can still be helpful :D)
LvlCap may still be Yoda... but you are definitely a Jedi! Can you help Jet Noobs like me get past heatseeker missiles unlock? -a tutorial on how to use heatseekers flares and cannon. (on console) Thanks
This video kicks ass. I never thought about using the guided totake out soflams, freekin genious. PLEEAASSE do a video on how to hover an f-35 like a freekin helicopter.
@arizonateadrunk If your talking about ground targets there are multiple factors that go into it. You have to aim that little eye that's always moving around where you think he target is gonna go. not really a sure fire way to know where ito aim every time for air to air just trial and error, again that crosshair that move is where the cannon will go but after a while you just know where to put it
I was a great jet pilot on console, but for a while I haven't been able to live up to my former glory. These key bindings will really help me. These tips completely apply to BF4 too, which is great since that game is a big reason I upgraded to PC.
You've got that calm, measured voice that is one of the reasons I like LevelCap's videos.
You sound calm. Like REALLY calm. It's quite soothing. Thanks for your voice.
Sure thing, an in-depth video on speed control is definitely going to be on the list.
you can use Audacity and under effects it has a "Noise Removal" effect, if you highlight a section of just pure static it will go through and just about completely remove the noise, works really well.

What's your loadout when you're playing rush? Do you rely solely on the cannon? Thanks, looking forward to the next episode!
Thanks Sturdy. I'm one of the new subscribers and I'd love to see the missile dodging tutorial you mentioned, but I'd also really like to see some advanced dogfighting strategies, prioritising targets, target aquisition etc as well as general beast mode flying. I'm loving the jets in BF3 but I realise I am only just starting to get a handle on flying them. Thanks :)
Ready for the next 10 episodes now. Dog fighting maneuvers and dodging guided missiles and javelins sounds good too. Thanks
Great video, cant wait for episode 2. Dodging heatseakers and javelins is a great idea. Keep up the good work!
Wow your channel EXPLODED! Fantastic, also do you do helicopters?
Afterburner away and hit ECM at the right time. Guided rockets are slow and are easily outrun, while heat seeking rockets are distracted by careful use of ECM jammer and tight turns.

hey sturdy that video was not bad at all for being your very first comm. I think the dodging series would be excellent I've never seen anybody post a tutorial about that before.
Haha alright, I've never done a commentary before so I was trying to focus on what I was sayin but I'll keep that in mind for Ep. 2 :)
-Sturdy
if you are chasing other jet, then you have to break the loop. Like you are on vertical loop, do 90degree turn on horisontal and do half horisontal loop
I'll keep that in mind, for some reason my mic makes a lot of white noise while recording. Not sure why.
-Sturdy
I have been trying to improve my jet skills as they are very lacking. so you couldn't have fallen into my lap at a better time.
cant wait for future videos.
In addition to dodging heatseekers and javelins can you also make a video on dogfighting techniques such as loosing a jet that is on your tail. Awesome job and keep it coming.
One on how to hover and how to be the most effective with the different jets on different maps would be good I think.
There will definitely be some chopper tutorials in the near future.
-Sturdy
Id love an explanation of the HUD, i cant find any decent ones that explain all the numbers and everything and what they are used for. Also great video man keep them up and im sure ull gain even more subs
I just discovered your channel, thanks fore making beautiful BF3 jet videos, they help me a lot with jets.
i can handle myself pretty well in a jet but i really have trouble learning how to do the rolling scissor maneuver it would be great to make a video on that

I only play on PC, I've tried console before but I suck at it xD. A lot of the tips I will cover will transfer over to console though, so stay tuned :)
-Sturdy
Hey man good video thanks for the tips. You are a god in the jet bro. What mouse and keyboard do you use buddy???
It would be helpful to see some dog fighting tips like evasive maneuvers when you get a really top notch pilot on your tail.
Yeah, I thought you'd say that. The cannon absolutely rips tanks apart... Thanks again!
This series will be great!
sturdy i was of the many that came from levels chan.. keep these vids coming bro .. ive seen many jet uploads but your f-35 vid was just so fucking entertaining! im hooked :)

Great video man. Definitely looking forward more! :D
Dogfight tips? How to maintain 315? Great vid, please keep posting!
Please make a tutorial on turning and maintaining the speed. In Levelcap's video you said you try to stay at 315 but I find that very hard to do. Any tips on that would be amazing :)

Please do a video on how to lead a target ideally
great vid man! next topics sounds great
Amazing tutorial keep it up Sturdy, quick question tho wont the sensitivity affect the movility on dog fights?
Hmm I was thinking of what LvLCap mentioned in his video that you ´land a lot and repair your plane, but I have not quite figured out when to do that. Is it good to repair your plane when you are at 70% or 60% or when is a good time to land and repair your plane?
Evading people in jets would probably be a good video as its what I see most people complaining about.
awesome video can't wait for your other ones!
Keep up these good vids man!
It would be pretty cool if you show a dogfight against one or two other jet pilots and explain what you`re doing and how.
- on the flip side, how can a chopper take you out?

is it possible to be able to fight up then dive like turn the afterburners off then drop to catch extra speed or something
The thing i'm more curious about sturdy is how can you manage to hover around with your JET so slowly?
when you hear high beep sound. with ecm use it as soon as you hear locking on sound.
I always use Air Radar/ECM/Rocket Pods for ALL Jets. I feel Guided Missile is useless because not only does it take too long to reload, it doesn't do enough damage and it likes to lock on to unoccupied vehicles even when I'm not looking at them...

Just an Idea, competitive jet dog fighting 1v1 rounds with other top notch pilots, maybe make a series of it.
Amazing video, I've learned nice things :)
Next Episode, cant wait! Please be dodging heat seekers and javelins :)
Love the video. Enthusiasm needed more in your voice overs but that will come with time as you do more of these....Thanx
If you bind pitch up and down to keys does it pitch as fast as possible?
Really good flying, like your gameplay, how did you get so at flying jets and heli on BF3?
How do you look to the sides of the plane like you did at the end of the video?
When your in a dog fight should you stay relatively close to the enemy or keep distance? If so how far do you recommend? :)
Can't wait for the next episode xD
Can you cover how to engage land targets
just to add MrSeekit's post, jets and aa are the biggest nuisance. If you could do videos on how to go from noob level to more advanced level in dogfighting, tips on taking out aa, and your thought process - would be great if you showed a full game live commentary with jet.
hey Sturdy wings i have used my arrows on almost all bf games but now i want to go over to the mouse so i wanna hear if you have some tips for that
I would like to know how to successfully break off a circle when me and another jet is circling around one another in a dog fight, im on ps3 and and I always have an issue with that
Coming from levelcap here, love your vids sofar, ive seen about 15 now
i haven't unlocked the air radar and rocket pots wat do i need to use (sorry for bad english)
Awesome stuff. Your an amazing pilot. Definitely want to see a tutorial on dodging heatseakers. Also any dog fight tactics would be great. Target priority. What you do when your in a circle (jerk) fight with another pilot etc.. Thx
i came here from LvlCap channel.
btw your tutorial videos is awesome!
I'm getting a mid range asus laptop soon, so I was curious what you could do with key bindings. I play on console, so there isn't really any room for personal setups. God I can't wait to play on pc.
Hell yea tutorial this soon?? Thank you, you're the best :)
Please do a video on dodging missiles and javlins
he one of the best jets pailots on BF3. he number 7.
I learned much off this thanks sturdy wings
LvlCap may still be Yoda... but you are definitely a Jedi!
Can you help Jet Noobs like me get past heatseeker missiles unlock?
-a tutorial on how to use heatseekers flares and cannon. (on console)
Thanks
can you make a video about flying the F35? its really hard for me to win dogfights with it
This video kicks ass. I never thought about using the guided totake out soflams, freekin genious. PLEEAASSE do a video on how to hover an f-35 like a freekin helicopter.
I hear expert jet pilots talking about scissoring...how does one scissor in a dogfight? Please make a tutorial video on this maneuver!
@arizonateadrunk If your talking about ground targets there are multiple factors that go into it. Nice videos! A dogfight tutorial would be nice to see in the future.
