After you've spent time in Thailand, these videos make so much more sense. Go there, even if it's with your girlfriend or family. Smell, feel and taste the culture. Talk and spend time with actual Thai people! We live too much on UA-cam and simplified generalizations that fit our stereotypes and preconceptions. Yes, sometimes there is definitely truth. But with experience you are always going to learn and appreciate things you didn't know. But I appreciate these videos.
What, seriously? I can go down the street from my house and get this, this is no different then some parts of America, get out a little go some places and see somethings, there may be differences from there to here but you can find both in both places

Agree 100%! 👍 We used to like going to the 'Republic' at Union Square but they closed it a few years back. I'm sure there are more good Thai restaurants in the City, I just have to do some research.
You get to experience diarrhea when you eat meat or drink water in Thailand. I had a fever for a week or so. If you eat meat, try chicken at McDonald's of all places. One of the few places with a health/cleanliness standard and proper refrigeration.
Watching in November, 2021..... if only we knew what was coming is what is running through my mind watching this 😫. Stayed in the Khoasan Road area for 2 weeks back in 2006 before doing my travelling. I liked it tbh, good base to see Bangkok, always had life in the evenings- just sit in a bar and people watch, met a great bunch of lads from different places and ended up travelling through Thailand and Cambodia together. Simpler times eh?

Nice video. Been married to a Thai 30+ years. Been to all the "notorious" sites over the years. Soi Nana, Soi Cowboy, Patpong, Bangla Road Phuket, Walking Street Pattaya. But for some reason had never been to Khaosan Road. Went there finally in November 2018. Actually had a nice time. Decent meal at 1986 Bar. Seemed very tame compared to what goes on at the other locations I named.

Have the people commenting ever lived in Thailand? I did for over a year and had 0 incidents of attempted theft, really no drama and I went to the club areas twice a week... Brazil on the other hand I had people try and steal my phone twice in 12 days there. Thailand is very safe

The Secret Alley bar was called Eugins, back in 2005. It was tiny..no seating in the alley. It was run by a Belgiun guy and his Thai wife. I remember a drunk ex pat from Florida kept holding my hand in there, and when I complained he went to put a bottle of Samsong over my head..the other guys in the bar saved me from a trip to hospital that day...an Irish guy, a Peruvian and a Dutch guy...thanks guys, if you're reading.

That is why I go to northern hills in Mae Hon Son to explore the hill tribes, also ride the ping river and explore Lod cave !😉
