I've been snowboarding for 30 years or so, but recently my sister asked me if I could teach it to my nephew. So thanks for those beginner videos you've been putting out lately, they're pretty useful since I don't think about those simple first steps anymore, and this gives me a nice perspective where to start.
I taught myself by Heading up to Mt Hood Meadows with my friends from church. All of my friends were way more experienced than I was, but I braved the long ride on the Mt Hood Express 😂 Nevertheless it was a steep learning curve! It was single handedly the funnest adventure in my life! There is when I first fell in love with Night Skiing 😍 By the end of that trip I felt very comfortable ripping and shredding down the mountain! By the end of the night I was confident enough to jump off small jumps. I literally live minutes away from Alpental and The Summit at Snoqualmie. We are heading up there after all these years! Your videos have been very informative about everything that people need to know before heading up to the mountains 🙏 I appreciate your content!🙏👍
Great video I hope it will help with getting back on the snowboard after a long break. What really helped me as a beginner (I still am a beginner) to not fall down is to always look in the direction i m heading never down on my feet. I am sure you mention this in other videos, but not in this one so I felt the need to comment as it is really important. This allowed me to visualize the turn better since it will take some space to execute it and looking down made me do rushed movements that lead to repeated falls.
As a first time snowboarder as of Friday, toe side was easy, but heel side I was constantly catching an edge and crashing. Next go round I will try to learn heel side.
Appreciate the video. I know how to snowboard, but I’m not super experienced. My son wants to learn to board this year so I’m watching videos to help teach him. Appreciate your time! ❤
@@ThaiLitzkitrue my sister is so scared to fall it took her longer to learn skiing then me, also on a bike. Which is weird since she is more into sports and I’m more of an artist.
@Aceofspades2006 you're more in tune with how you feel ig as an artist, whereas sports people have to constantly evaluate what's going on in their game.
After a year of training, I went for my first snow season in the alps earlier this year; I was fairly good except from really struggling when at pace (trying to keep up with experienced friends) turning from toe to heal edge and linking turns smoothly(specifically the shift of weight). Found myself panicking and forcing my left leg forward to intimate a fast turn therefore forcing a shift in weight. Kept falling and losing confidence. Any advice for intermediates on this?
I would certainly suggest to go at your own pace and not attempt to keep up with your experienced friends. This applies to sooo many things in life where there is an experience difference. As a motorcycle rider it can be dangerous trying to keep pace with others when moving out of your comfort zone. Keep having fun out there!
@@MadProfessor153 I totally agree with this. It can be dangerous or just plain frustrating if you're trying to keep up with faster snowboarders. I would say to just enjoy it and take some time to focus on You and practice in a mellow area, get better and get your confidence up and just enjoy it By Yourself if you have to. Injuries and frustration just kind of ruin the experience. Don't give up on getting better and just have fun!
I tried for the first time this year. It was tempting to go with my partner who is experienced but after feeling discouraged seeing how fast and good he is, I asked him to actually give me space, leave me alone and let me figure things out on my own at my own pace. I instantly started learning faster. I agree with the previous advise, do things at your own pace first. Agree in your mind with the fact that it's going to take time to learn to be better. That approach really helped me and I am still at the Very beginning.
I love your vids and they help me a lot but when I wasn't watching your vids I hade an accident when I was doing my toes I was going a little too fast so I smacked my head in the ground. your vids helped me out a lot.
It’s weird for me because can easily do toes but struggle with heels Update: was trying to do some heel edging and broke my humerus on my left arm, catch y’all next semester
I'm the same, and you kind of fear catching the heel edge which makes it worse, I would suggest try buying some ass pads to not be afraid to fall on your ass and boost your confidence a bit
I guess I'm crazy for prefering turning on my toes lol. I skateboard and it's only easier turning backside (toeside) on ramps. But when snowboarding, turning on my heels feels unnatural compared to turning on my toes
Wish we had better mountains with longer runs near me to practice more spend more time waiting to get on lift and going up mountain than going down it and practicing
if i have been on a snowboard like 1 or 2 times a long time ago is it hard to have balance on the snowboard? and u enjoy ur videos they are very help im just sitting here eating my food and learning
Me too i just started i also having a hard time turning but the most hard thing for me is the toes is atoning the snowboard and getting the right angel with out falling.
I don't think so. I saw someone's grandma in the lesson with me. Just don't go too crazy and make sure you fall safely! Fresh, soft snow is the best to learn on
I think you should do more snowboard Vlogs instead of hint videos if you can, it’s just an opinion, I’m not saying you should stop doing this type of videos but it would be cool if there were more vlogs 😊
This is a very bad explanation, you are in fact not explaining anything. Especially the way you explain how to lean in your weight by reaching for a snow - complete disaster. Most newcomers will just move their shoulders and hands without moving their pelvis - which is the most crucial part for the weight distribution, to distribute the weight with pelvis. Not a word about how you have to steer with your eyes, how to work your heels, toes and shins while turning. Very sloppy work which is setting up beginners to fail.
You never once described what to do with your legs. (Knees, ankles or feet) shoulders are not the primary turning force of something attached to your feet. Don't teach people if you don't know yourself.

As a beginner, I would first practice 1 foot forward and when you get more advanced, try both
