- Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (known as F. Scott Fitzgerald) was a short story writer and novelist considered one of the pre-eminent authors in the history of American literature due almost entirely to the enormous posthumous success of his third book, The Great Gatsby. Perhaps the quintessential American novel, as well as a definitive social history of the Jazz Age, The Great Gatsby has become required reading for virtually every American high school student and has had a transportive effect on generation after generation of readers. At the age of 24, the success of his first novel, This Side of Paradise, made Fitzgerald famous. One week later, he married the woman he loved and his muse, Zelda Sayre. However by the end of the 1920s Fitzgerald descended into drinking, and Zelda had a mental breakdown. Following the unsuccessful Tender Is the Night, Fitzgerald moved to Hollywood and became a scriptwriter. He died of a heart attack in 1940, at age 44, his final novel only half completed. #Biography

Happy Birthday Scott! Your writing is sorely missed these days. No one could write the way you did. RIP!
He plagiarized his wife's diary. Search it up.
@@icanspotliarsandincelsnido6408 That's a bunch of theories, unsubstantiated. Explain how he wrote five books (and numerous short stories), some when he had no access to her diaries.
My middle name is Frances.
"Well, Francis Scott Key is a relative of your."
"So is F. Scott Fitzgerald!"
I write as well. Kfj
In my opinion, 'Tender is the Night' is his greatest, finest novel.
@PREMiERE PARER oxidized
agreed
In The Great Gatsby, the ensemble cast and its climax may be compared to a jigsaw puzzle made up of amoeba-like pieces.
Watched a movie about Fitzgerald. But reading his biography is more interesting to know about his short life.❤
ur here cause of school
You are correct
This documentary is just bias.
Yes, I am
@@icanspotliarsandincelsnido6408 source: trust me bro
Ur ?
The glazing is crazy
weird how his hit book, The great Gatsby looks an awful lot like his wife's diary, but I'm sure that's just a silly coincidence
Biographies--of these Renowned
Writers are Superb .
As a Senior Educator of English , I Love to watch them &
Utilize them
Just ..Wow. no other words to fit. I m here coz i read 1 line that resonated with me. The G8 Gatsby...i heard of it. Not knowing who the author is. That 1 line i read somewhere filled the gap.
After learning about his life so much of the Great Gatsby seems autobiographical.
Put some subtitles plssss
I'm feel so bad about him... Zelda, depression and alcohol apparently destroyed him
Zelda did not destroy him. He did that all by himself.
Are you kidding me? Scott plagiarized his wife's diary. Scott also had affairs and was a drunkard.
@@KatKrueger Exactly! This dude is a plagiarizer, too. Zelda was more lenient towards him. I feel so bad for her.
He missed the 'red flags' she showed him demanding that he 'show her the money'....lol.seriously. There is a line from the film Wall Street (1) that addresses that 'red flag'.
F. Scott Fitzgerald, more like F. Scott it's Litzgerald.
????
Wtf
Leroy Jenkins died of laughter
@@vikkinicholson2300 Travis Scott
Such greatness
Hemmingway was no F.Scott Fitzgerald. Read just the first few pages of Ch. 1, The Great Gatsby and it is easy to see his brilliance.
Totally agree.
This video is fallacious and bias. Scott was just a plagiarizer and a very toxic spouse too.
Scott plagiarized his wife's works.
While Scott was named greatest American writers, Zelda (the original writer) wasn't!
@@icanspotliarsandincelsnido6408 Explain how Zelda would have known about his experiences before he even met her?
This is remarkably superficial, and, in places, incorrect
EXACTLY! This documentary is even worse than how you described this! I feel so bad for Scott's victims, particularly his wife.
@@icanspotliarsandincelsnido6408 And you have yet to post anything to substantiate what you are claiming. I doubt either of them was easy to live with, but come on.
What's the name of that piano piece tho?
Aaron Morales Minute Waltz by Chopin
He also wrote Benjamin Button, as a short story. Fate & Coincidence...
under-rated comment
He died on the same day as my birthday.
An amazing talent
One of my favorite authors alongside Jane Austen (〃′▽`)
AUTHOR OF BOOK (FILM) 'THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON'. ALSO 'A DIAMOND AS BIG AS THE RITZ' AND 'THE GREAT GATSBY' AND 'THIS SIDE OF PARADISE'. YAY.
I had no clue that he wrote Benjamin Button. Wow
According to this his second book was the great Gatsby! It skipped over 1922 the year his second book came out the beautiful and the damned! The only success he had with his books where this side of paradise! All the others had only mediocre sales! And it wasn't until the late 40s that the great Gatsby sky rocketed to the fame it is now and considered the masterpiece it is now
360p lol
Why are all of these dudes alcoholics?
The life of an artist..
Because it's stressful to TRY for something...Dude.
I had a teacher in High School, Pia Fitzgerald, who is an African American, who swears this guy is her great-great uncle or something.
It's possible
This video changed my life.
This video is fallacious and bias. Scott was just a plagiarizer and a very toxic spouse too
@@icanspotliarsandincelsnido6408 Ever heard of psychological projection and obsession?
POV: youre here from Mrs. roses class
A different school and class but can relate haha.
Saying he is the greatest American writer is crazy! He only wrote one truly great book... it is noticeably better than the others. Off the top of my head Ernest Hemingway, Edgar Allan Poe, John Steinbeck, and Mark Twain are all better, each with a larger body of great classics.
Lmao the great Gatsby is the only book people know about him
Curious case of Benjamin button and this side of paradise are also classics?
He actually plagiarized the Great Gatsby from his wife's diary, Zelda.
While Scott was named as one of the greatest American writers, Zelda (the true writer) wasn't!
Zelda was gonna reveal it to Scott's editor, but her loser husband threatened her!

Guess what? There is some looney tune kid on you tube claiming Fitzgerald is her daddy in a past life.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
So basically a one hit wonder but for books?
Curious case of Benjamin button
His first two novels were very successful, The Great Gatsby was something of a failure when it was first published but it has gained acclaim since the 1940s; his last completed novel, Tender Is The Night, is now considered one of his best.
"One-hit wonder but for books"---- What does that mean? If you're not thinking of his books, then what is the "one hit" that you're thinking of? Sigh. Millennials can't compose even one sentence on UA-cam.
I still think William Burroughs did more to revolutionize American Writing.
Utter and complete nonsense
Scott plagiarized his wife's works.
