The Spark is amazingly capable. I'm rockin' a 2020 model with only 120mm front n rear here in Saalbach and whilst probably 'under biked' for the area I'm still loving my riding here. At the end of the day we used to ride solid steel bikes without suspension and later only front suspension on trails so there's a lot to be said for mindset... Ride what ya got with a smile on ya dial!
Underbiked? You yourselves said the Spark was crazy capable. Of course, you can't do serious downhill with it… I live in the Alps as well - oh, and I have a Scale 925 (so a hardtail). I don't think I am underbiked; it's just a bit more challenging I suppose. ;)
Every few months this guy gets a new TOTL Scott and makes a video about how capable the bike is outside its comfort zone - Ransom for racing, Spark for enduro, etc. I am just waiting for a video that shows him overtaking a Scott Plasma with a Gambler on the road. :D
Dang that bike is looks nice and is really capable. Riding the Scott Spark 960 2020 with minor upgrades and 130mm travel - it is really capable, did not expect it to handle the trails in Madeira where i am now. Of course more travel is better, but otherwise super stable, easy to control and the weight is not bad for sure considering this is their "budget" aluminum version.
Great to see another video comparing and contrasting the Rambler and Spark. Which trails work better for which and when they overlap and are equally competent.
How do you feel about the increased standover and steeper seat tube angle compared with previous version? Size large standover is 18mm taller in the new model.
I feel for climbing it gives a really good position, it’s super comfortable and feels just right for putting the power down. I hadn’t noticed the difference in stand over until you said but weirdly the positioning I hold on the bike makes it feel lower than it is on paper.
@@ScottyLaughland I've just seen some footage from the enduro a I think it's called 'The real cave pass' looked the same and spotted the little drywall you hopped over. I'm due a visit to Dunkeld so I'll go try it.
@@ScottyLaughland Mind me asking your saddle height? I'm stuck between Large and XL according to their size chart, being 188cm tall and 79cm saddle height on a road bike.. Thanks.
Hello. I heard that you are 189 cm and rides a size Large? I'm going to pre-order one but is a bit unsure about which size. I'm 179 cm and according to Scott sizing calculator I'm just in the middle of M and L. What is your opinion on the size of this bike?
@@ScottyLaughland I have a 2017 Spark in Medium. When I first bought it I felt it was a bit short. Solved it with a longer stem and by moving the saddle a bit backwards. I think I will go for the large this time.
I have exactly same concern. The thing is that on L (150mm travel seatpost) and on M (125mm travel). The seattube is "long" on both model and L i 4cm longer than on M. And Im affraid that on L, there will issue with the saddle height at maximum seatpost extended (Im also 179cm tall).
@@tomaszwelerowicz1367 I'm 177cm and ride the Medium and seat height is near max for where you would want it... but I'm comfortable on the large, especially for bombing decents, so you'll be better on the large imho
Hey! I’m 189cm as well and considering a Spark RC, but my arms are longer than average and Scott recommends an XL. Do you recon an XL would have been less ideal for you? (I’m a roadie and do like to get low) Thanks! Cheers! Timo
I’ve ridden hard tail XC bikes my whole life but as I’m getting that bit older I’m considering get a full-suss just for comfort. My question is for anyone who owns or has ridden a Spark… I’m not really a trail rider. How does it fair as an all day, epic ride kind of bike?
Have no experience of the Tall Boy but I can guarantee nothing but smiles with the Spark 900! I’d recommend getting to your local dealer sooner rather than later...
You are right Scotty! It Took me too long to decide - now that tuned is gone 😭 It looked phantastic - the paintjob is soooo brilliant, it doesn‘t come out in the Video
Thanks for that great demo ride. I already made up my mind to order one. I want to watch as many videos of this bike 🚴 in action because I know it's the perfect mountain bike for me💯‼️👍☮️🌞🌟🚲🏔🚵
I doubt very much if there will be any demo bikes. There are not enough to go around. My local Scott dealer is frustrated and angry as they has been assigned a total of 4 Sparks from the 2022 range. It's not good I think Scott have screwed over the UK could be to do with import/costs etc
I’m sorry guys I can’t be more help here. I think issues have risen from the general demand of bikes in the past 18 months. If you’re looking for one be quick cause they’re hot tickets!!
Hi sorry I’ve no comparison here. All I can say is the SCOTT Spark rules, please check out some of my more recent videos to see it on the trails around Scotland...
IMO, compared to S-Works Stumpjumper ST, the 900 Tuned has much less fickle steering, climbs significantly easier, and I think the shocks work better on it. Same with Stumpjumper LT except I won't take the Scott jumping off any cliffs like I would the Stumpjumper.
Hy Scotty. I have question. What size of scott spark do you use in this video L or XL. (Your Height: 6 foot 2 (189cm)) I want to bay scott spark tuned and i hava height 184 cm. Thanks
Hey Jozef! I’m riding a size large, I’m 189cm and borderline between L and XL. I’d say the L would be right for you. If you can demo one I’d recommend it just to be sure! You’ll love it - such a fine bike, so fast, efficient and capable!
What size would you recommend for me...I am 1,78cm but have a very long inseam of 87cm [always ride an L..currently a Scalpel Si] ...and am between sizes on the Scott calculator...
Oh man, that’s a hard one to answer! Do you have any opportunities to be able to test one out? If you’re a large on your current bike, I’d say a large on the Spark!
Hi Guido. I have bought the Spark910 at Large with also 178cm hieght. I have done bike fitting on this (and also on my road bike). The size L on Spark is good for me and only adjustment to be done is to lower cockpit by 1cm (if neede based on trials I'm riding). So Im not changing anyting in bike setup to optimize the riding position. I have changed the saddle/seat and the wheels (but those are of different reason).
For anyone looking at sizes reading this, I'm 180 cm and ride an L Stumpjumper and an M 900. Some this height prefer L and some M, so best is try both sizes. That and smaller in general handles a bit more fun in technical terrain.
@@ScottyLaughland YES! No kitting, I’m riding at least every second day, and usually I have to clean the bike every second ride. They should be, if you want one best bet to check in with your local dealer and get it pre ordered!
I'm trying to decide between a Spark and Genius. Mostly riding trail centres such as Glentress, Laggan, Ae etc. Which bike would be best?
Anything wrong with the Break. Looks like you had the Break lever pressed on the grip ( 1:44 )
making your brakes 'bite' as close as possible to your grips, prevents armpump :)
