  • Installing a 14w laser on a CNC machine might sound intimidating but this is a super easy process. A few steps and you can be cutting with your laser in no time. #jtech #inventables

Do you use a honeycomb board beneath the material you are laser cutting?

What thickness material have you been able to cut? I have the Endurance 10W and want to upgrade to this one or Optlaser, Jtech so far has a better price!

Still testing different material but spent the day etching glass which is super easy with this laser. I have cut 1/4 inch Birtch in 3 passes. MDF as well. Have not learned the software to learn the step increase to keep going deeper. But I have no doubt this would cut 1/2 inch plywood. But ask me in about 3 months when I'm more salty and I will have it's goods and bads. Thanks for the comment. Jon

How have your tests been going? I just got one and am curious how well it's going? Also do you recommend the air assist for it?

Highly recommend the air assist if you are doing cuts, being that you are mostly traveling from 8-10 in/min it will leave chard burns on your edges. If you are just engraving only, then you can do without it. I have pushed mine to 150 in/mm 40% power on birch plywood (from HD) on my Xcarve and came out nice! This is really a powerful laser, I was hesitant it would do cuts. I was happily impressed, next purchase is the Xtool rotary like Mr. Jon!
