At a concert in Tampa, Florida Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have to grab the rope so the down fall off the moving platform as they are lowered onto the stage.
My very first concert was this, but 1977. Same song, coming down on lift platforms, but of course with Ace and Peter. Quite a spectacle for an 11 year old kid at his first concert.
Well unfortunately Ace and Peter did not protect themselves legally regarding the bands decision making capabilities and come up on the short end basically got repetitively screwed by the other two business sharks.
I saw that. I wasn't recording, but was worried for a sec. It would have been a short show if he'd fallen. People in comments are giving him a hard time, but I'd say he did really well for a 72-year-old. You also cut off a bit early. When he finally did get off, it never reached the ground. So he was grabbing the wire because it was starting to tilt again (and did tilt). A stage hand jumped in the other side to balance it so he could step off without it flipping back up.
No matter who you are the last thing you want to do is get hurt or embarrassed. Things happen and we can't control everything that happens in life. I think he handled it well in heels.
6 inch platform heels I think the man did very well myself.lol. That old man's a beast he's a millionaire he's been doing something right huh? God of Thunder
It wasn’t his fault. It was a mechanical problem where his platform cables didn’t lower equally. I saw this same show in Fort Worth the week before and all 3 platforms came down simultaneously…they stepped off and almost immediately they were raised quickly back to the ceiling. There was an obvious mechanical failure at the beginning and Gene was just being extra cautious because he knew if he fell or even tripped that the show might’ve been stopped.
They really need to just stop. I am a Kiss fan, the first album I ever bought was "Hotter Than Hell", my first concert was the Dynasty tour, I wore out a few stereo needles on the Alive album but this is getting sad. Paul has lost his voice, I don't think its possible to tune down any lower, they're using backing tracks and the last decent album (imo) was Creatures of the Night (as indicated by the most recent set lists). Time to retire.
First record I ever bought was KISS “Rock And Roll Over”, and loved it so much I took money from my savings to go get “The Originals” a week later! Glad Gene is ok, and had the sense to handle it well. I’d be interested to see what the mechanical malfunction had been as it appeared to have slipped the locking function of a spooling mechanism dropping out the extra slack in the cable .
A little tilt. I imagine that those stages are real tippy if you get out to the edge probably dump you right off. Those big honking hi heels have to be a disaster just waiting to happen
Imagine being in your 70's and having to dress up like goblins and do the same shtick you've been doing since your 20's. Kiss has never been my cup of tea but this has gone so far beyond sad and pathetic.
No.... he can still play the basics with one hand on the fret board which is what he was doing. And while Paul did stop playing, Tommy and Eric continued on playing/ doing some fill until they got back down to the stage.
I shall...debunk... your statement. First, you can hear the bass go out after Gene turns around. Second, I looked at another video from Tampa (this show) and one from Atlanta, the show the next night. In the Tampa show, you can see and hear when Gene starts playing again after he gets to the mic. But here's the real reason Gene's bass isn't a prerecord... If it were coming off the computer, it would be locked into a set time. In the Tampa show the band vamps while Gene gets down, this is when Gene's bass stops. That vamp means that Paul starts singing the first verse approximately 1 minute after the song starts. In the Atlanta show, where things went smoothly, Paul starts singing approximately 34 seconds after the song starts. So tell me, if Gene's bass is a prerecord, how would it not be 26 seconds ahead of the rest of the band at the Tampa show? Why does it fall back into place when Gene starts playing again with no sync issues for the rest of the song?
@@dogmangrasshopperman5592 I see you do not follow. If they are miming their parts, then someone is playing them offstage. If it was a prerecorded part, things like this would make things go out of sync quickly. But the fact in another, longer version of this song from Tampa, you can see AND hear the bass come back in once Gene gets to the mic shows it is not likely to be an off stage player either. So.... no, the evidence does not support Gene miming this song.

However, the crowd and fans realize there are backing vocals and tracks, but guess what? We don't care. We have the albums, it is not the 70's, and we are happy to see KISS live.
