@@ScreenwritingScribe There is a lot of competition, but it doesn't seem to be enough to make them stop resting on their laurels. They can afford it because the other screenwriting tools are also essentially bad: laggy, buggy, old school UX, most miss the real interesting tools for writers and sometimes they feel kind of an over-scientification of the creative process. They are simply not intuitive. I'm not a professional writer and use these tools only occasionally. Hence, I was never willing to pay a lot of money for it. I loved using Celtx and had to move on because their subscription model didn't do it for me. I tried several cheap and expensive tools and all were bad. Then, Scenarist came into play. It's very basic but I still love it. I miss some export features but that's fine so far. Basically, I want Celtx Classic with a more charming GUI and an outline editor. And I'm willing to pay for that but not on a monthly basis. And it needs to run on Mac and PC for collaboration purposes (that's part of the problem). BTW: Same goes for production and calculation tools. The was a great app called Line Producer from Bit Poets. It was great but they stopped it and design websites now. Now there's only pricing models for production companies, that use it on a daily basis. But for me as an ambitious freelance filmmaker who needs those tools only occasionally, this is not gonna do it. So, Excel comes into play again 🤢

I have a link that gives me the update for $75. BUT I don't see greatness in 13. I'm keeping 12.
I think the better update will be 14. Having used both 12 and 13 I don't think u are missing too much by staying with 12. I have noticed they are really discounting 13 though because it isn't selling as much as old upgrades.
@@ScreenwritingScribe I have 12 and never even seen a need for 13 over 12 for what I do. I mean, hardly was there useful tools that would help me sell scripts. I think a lot of the hype is just to get another # for $'s.
@@drdimento totally agree, there was nothing new or innovative about this upgrade. 12 works great
You're right, there has got to be more...
Exactly for how long they have been working on it.
¿Cuando sale final draft 14?
El Draft 13 final ya está disponible. El borrador final 14 probablemente dentro de dos o tres años.
Gracias por responder, y por la reseña. @@ScreenwritingScribe
I cannot believe no AI!
A.I. is a hard one. I agree that there should be A.I. however because of how split the writing community is, I can see why they didn't include it. However I'm future updates if they don't include it I think they will lose marker share
I felt in order to be in the mainstream sooner or later I'd have to purchase FD. I did and I hate it. It's been months and haven't done one manuscript. In Scrivener I did many in a years time. The interface is in the center and synopsis and binder are in the sides. FD none of that, just an English 101 to make a stupid note. Lucky I didn't delete Scrivener manuscripts. The tutorials are so generic $$$$ Perhaps FD is for Professionals only.
What kind of things would you like in a tutorial that would be more helpful for FD? I am sorry you have had such a bad experience with Final Draft. I use Scrivener from time to time and I really have enjoyed it as well.
@@ScreenwritingScribe First of all thank you for offering help so quickly. The FD learning process is so bad I haven't learned enough to even ask. I wish I could give it away to someone that needs it or return it to the Apple Store free. ♥
@@cs19575 Believe me, I understand about FD. If sort of sounds like you would like a better interface to help your work flow. I am on vacation this week, but let me look into it and see what i could do to make your interface better. Ideally how would you like your interface to be to make your time easier using the program. On a side note what do you really like about Scrivener that you don't feel is showing up in your FD experience?
@@ScreenwritingScribe My friend! You Don't understand. You're a Pro. My neighbor and I are beginners. We know the script formatting. We are satisfied with the Scrivener interface. It's obvious FD has everything, but it's for Professionals like yourself. To answer the question, directly, Scrivener has a unique interface NOT BETTER but for beginners your script is in front of you, the binder in one side and the synopsis and note on the other. As corny as it sounds "Scrivener cares about you writing" That is not exiting to Professionals but to us we already have several screenplay completed with Scrivener not one with FD. If you have any Scrivener tutorials my neighbor and I will subscribe. FD? For College Students. ♥♥♥
@@cheyennesantos-l4g believe it or not Scrivener was one of the first screenwriting programs I bought. I agree I love their interface and think it is better than FD in several regards. The important thing is to just find a software that works for you and your writing process. I will try to get some more Scrivener content out...since it has been a while since I used it. Thank u for the feedback and for the content ideas!
And performance is STILL a pain. Mac is ok but PC is unusable. How can this be industry standard?
Totally agree! They need to redo the code and make the PC performance better.
@@ScreenwritingScribe Absolutely. And this is a severe problem for years almost nobody seems to talk about this. Why are they still on the market? Too bad Celtx Classic doesn't work on new machines anymore. I'm sticking with Scenarist.
@@macadamiafilm6839 Unfortunately Final Draft is still working from a first mover in the space. Now that there is a lot more software, they will go away if they don't grow and cater to their users. If they don't get their act together, I think they will lose market share probably in the next five years.
Why is this one of the funniest videos ever 😂
I think it is because of what they are making us pay to add emojis. I still think that is a joke. lol
Micheal is this you?
Christopher: Been workin’ my ass off on this movie script. Know how many pages I got? Nineteen.
Paulie: That a lot? Or a little?
Christopher: Books say a movie’s supposed to be about a hundred and twenty pages. Got this fuckin’ computer, thought it would do a lot of it...Bought a scriptwriting program and everything.

Thank u for your kind words! I wish u well on your writing!
I'll stick with my 12.

Share you disappointment. Please fix the way you go from Beat Board and Cards to script. So sad.... How about asking the user base.
That is what I am shocked at...they don't seem to want to communicate with their user base. A lot of the things they should be fixing which users have pointed out, seem to be like shocking to them.
So basically all the stats features aren't enough -- you want the software to basically write the script for you is more or less the takeaway here haha. Man oh man. S*&t up and write
No the upgrade isn't worth the money. 100 bucks for Emojis and for productivity stats is not worth it. Maybe like 20 bucks but there is a lot of stuff that people have been wanting and people need fix for them to have a better writing environment. It isn't about having the program write the whole script for us but having a product that is stable in the PC version and giving us features that enhance our writing for the money. As somebody that looks at a lot of software and sees a lot of better stuff in the market place I think it is important to let other people know. Thank u for your insight but I can do two things at once write and hold a critique of a bad upgrade. Happy writing
