- Here, Angela Davis discusses the failures of scholarship before 1981 to accurately depict the lived experience of Black women under slavery, and the types of social structures that shared oppression formed. Additionally, Davis argues that Black women under slavery provide an incontrovertible example of a more equitable "womanhood," counter to paternalistic narratives perpetuated by hierarchies of gendered power.

Amazing work. My passion for the destruction of the horror that is the United States exceeds my contempt towards anarchism a thousandfold, and what Davis recounts here explains why. Solidarity!
