Make this Guitar Stand

- I made this guitar stand as a Christmas gift for my daughter. She inherited the guitar from her uncle this past year and she wanted a stand to be able to display the instrument in her room. The stand is built mostly in clear pine boards with a walnut inlay. I also bought a guitar hanger to complete the stand
Materials list:
1 - 2 x 8ft x 6in (5.25 in) clear pine boards. I had them cut to 4ft boards at the store to be able to bring them in my car
2 - 1 x 16in x 2 in walnut inlay
3 - 1 x Guitar hanger. I bought it at a local music store. Here is the link to the article:

Many thanks to Jean Nel of Woodwork Junkie for not only making his plan, but also sharing it. Here is the link to his guitar stand:

I’m glad you didn’t forget where you placed your fingers on the band saw 😂
Hey Marc
nice job. I too found wood working junkie guitar stand and took a crack at making one. I used their exact form to make one for an acoustic guitar. Exact right down to the swoosh looking base. I did do all my work free hand as I couldn't find any dimensions. I had my concerns about such a base, but it worked and looks pretty cool . I do like what you did with pick base and guitar holder.
I would have made the bottom joint as a mortice in the base and a tenon on the upright. That would have avoided the unsightly mis-alignment that you will notice every time you look at that stand. And the joint would be far stronger than what you have with a couple of screws
I have to agree with you, Joe. If I had a mulligan on this one, that is the approach I would follow. It would alleviate two issues: The misalignment and the fact that I ended up drilling into end grain. The good news is that the stand still looks brand new today, even if it’s a few years old. It’s held up very nicely. Cheers, Marc
Nice project. Would have thought twice about the shop bought mount and made your own as I think you would have done a great job. Shame about the screws securing the base being out of alignment.
Nice job and a great gift for your daughter.
Merci Marc! Bonjour depuis Sherbrooke, Qc. I want to do it !
C'est un vrai beau projet. Le lien pour le plan pour le manche se trouve dans la description du vidéo. Le stand existe encore et il a toujours fier allure. Comme neuf, même aujourd'hui. Si tu as des questions, n'hésite pas à me contacter. Bonne chance!
@@mleblanc1234 Merci mon cher! Je te tiens au courant... ;)
Any chance you would build and sell one of these? I love the design.
Thanks for your comments. I'm currently not set up to build anything. My shop is a big mess and my tools are not set up. I'd love to help you out in a couple of months, though, if you can wait that long.
@@mleblanc1234 Thanks Marc!
Marc i need measurements for the arm. From width of the base to the top for the guitar cradle please. Or tell me or the site u got the print from. Thank u. And also is there a degree for the curv of the arm?
Hey, sorry for not getting back to you sooner. If you look at the description of the video, there is a link to the web site where I got the plans for the arm. Let me check the link to confirm it’s still valid.
