Just to clarify: communication disorder is not the same as developmental language disorder! Before you learn it wrongly. Communication disorders would include everything we use to communication, not only language, so non-verbal, pragmatic and social skills too!

Hmmm. No mention of better strategies for giving directions. In the 60s, the teacher would say "Turn to page 78 in your math book" and then write "page 78" on the chalkboard. In my son's classroom, the kids were just supposed to be Paying Attention.
Also some DLD kids may read well and only have trouble verbally. Written words hold still, verbal words disappear. I remember daydreaming through the endless classroom lectures, then reading the textbook to get the lesson.

i remember when i was in fifth grade i was the most quiet student and one time i gave my english notebook to my teacher she guided me three times but still i didn't understand what she was saying so when i came to her with my mistakes the fourth time she slapped me so hard and when i was in 9th grade my urdu teacher told me to die of shame...Language has never been my cup of tea.
What..? You got slapped for still not understanding the work after 3 explanations? And to die of shame because you’re “dumb”?
I’ve got mild-moderate expressive-receptive language disorder. Mild/moderate, but still painful.
Know that it is not your fault you have a language disorder. You can’t control it!! It’s complicated, but I understand you. You do not deserve to get shamed on or abused just because you don’t understand things.
I am in 8th grade this year and in most subjects, I am literally being dragged. Especially in English... Maths I am the best out of all subjects, but still I’m not the fastest learner. I literally have to strain myself to absorb all the information being taught... and it succeeds, but after maybe 2-3 months without talking about it, I will forget it all again 🤷♀️
But personally, I think as you put effort into your work, it’s all that matters.
At least you know you’ve tried, and you should be proud of that. I know a girl in my grade is received the year 7 dux major award last year. She was in my class and hell she was really fast and smart... lucky her..
