Japan isn’t as strict with what kids can use or see (to my belief) America and other countries (especially Germany) were stricter with what kids could see
The Famicom was litteraly a computer It had a Disk Drive, a Keyboard, a tape recorder, a microphone, an internet modem, it was the Swiss Knife of its time
@@rubiks_20 Interesting! I did hear that Nintendo was trying to port the Famicom Disk System, but never knew they were going to give us a keyboard and everything else with it.
The Famicom was more powerful then the Atari. I remember getting it for Christmas from our neighbors and it was the best Christmas of my life, but my dad didn't buy me cartridge for it to get away from paying money.
It kills me that they made one of the ROB commericals based on a concept where the person playing is being watched by a law enforcement agency that forbids fun in any form.
The Nintendo Entertainment System was launched in 1985 in the U.S. and Canada. In Japan, it is known as the Nintendo Famicom. The best selling NES game as of 2012 is Super Mario Bros.
Because the us and European governments are pussies about anything that looks like a real gun, even if it's got a long wire connected to it and works on a console, why do you think the nes zapper had its colour changed to orange?
@chaofreak8 The first Famicom controllers were with soft rubber (square) buttons, but they could were down easily so they revamped the design, and they updated to the hard round buttons which they also used in all NES controllers later.
The look of the light gun, holster and all, kinda harkens back to the original Wild Gunman arcade machine which used twin 8mm projectors. I believe the creators of the game got the idea from a scene in The Great Train Robbery.
4:44 jerry curl....whahahaa The video quality on these old commercials are amazing!!! Very interesting stuff. I hate Urban Champions...use to get beat up by this kid in school ,goto his house to play that and get beat up by him again ...
What is the game called at 1:27 I remember playing this one where you would fight and try not to get caught when police drive by, you would stand on a corner and whistle like nothing going on lol...My dad bought the one game cartridge with tons of games on it (bootleged?).I remember it had a super mario bros version where blocks would phase in and out, so it was tricky. I still love the maroon/gold/black gamepads to this day.
The Famicom was the Japanese version of the NES. The NES never released in Japan and the Famicom never released in the rest of the world. The Famicom is super big in Japan, just not anywhere else as it wasn’t released anywhere else.
Holy shit the Japanese Zapper ain't playin' around.

Literally anything that computes is a computer.
And a gun
Technically the NES in the States was going to be a computer as well, but the idea was scrapped
Commodore 64.

Famiri Computa.
Been playing since 1984 HOORAY!
I like the multicolored cartridges. It's something the Famicom got that never got carried over to the NES.

why was it called "famly computer" when they had the most realistic gun
This gun vs the nintendo zapper
No wonder the Nzap 83 in Splatoon isn't the "realistic" gun from the famicom
Because Japan is better than America when it comes to Nintendo
@@nintega_64 not when it comes to Super Mario 2
great console, great games, great old times :)
...it...makes...me...cry!
*grabs japanes zapper*

Nintendo Entertainment System - Now you’re playing with power!
Famiri compiyota
I wonder what Japan's motto was for the Famicom
30 years later, this commercial has convinced me that I NEED Wrecking Crew for my Famicom.
Building your levels is pretty cool. The Wii/WiiU/3DS Virtual Console versions fix the save feature.
lol me too!
Exito Biko
Yes!
いくさいどばいく
0:50 so we get a blaster Japan just straight up gets a revolver.
The click sound of when a cartridge is inserted. Nintendo brought it back with the switch sound. Well played Nintendo

これは素晴らしく見えます。ぼんやりと当時のことを覚えています。私の叔父はファミリーコンピュータを持っていました。
Yeah! You could hold up a damn liquor store with that thing!
Yeah, that toy gun would not fly nowadays. Kinda cool it had a holster for "Wild Ginman" though. (The first light gun/Zapper game.
@NESHero It's from a Japanese DVD.
I used to have one when I was young it actually was called only Family in Mexico =)
It feels weird looking at this and my famicom is all yellow.
It kills me that they made one of the ROB commericals based on a concept where the person playing is being watched by a law enforcement agency that forbids fun in any form.
Amazing how this thing saved the gaming industry in North America as the Nintendo Entertainment System!
The Famicom beam gun looked very close to a colt peacemaker

How is it that the Japanese got the 6-shooter Zapper and we didn't?
Nothing beats the U.S.A NES Zapper
Robo Both I hear ya. I like our Zapper too. Just wondering, that's all.
Rex Brown Why would there be a japanese zapper in the U.S if we already have our zapper?
Alec Wilson but look at the odyssey light gun, it has a rifle light gun, that really looks like a rifle.
Because the us and European governments are pussies about anything that looks like a real gun, even if it's got a long wire connected to it and works on a console, why do you think the nes zapper had its colour changed to orange?
Usa: family computer😀
Poland: famili kompjuta😁

Fun fact: game costs 4500 yen in 1984, so it was around $18, which today is will be around $42.
Deep_wolf they were lucky
awesome thanks for posting
FAMICOM, a console, in my opinion, more important that atari 2600
Well, without it, gaming like how it is nowadays would not be possible
Geez!!! The gun is actually looks like a revolver. Like the Odyssey.
Way to sell that shit... Excito bike
4:37 what is that sound effect they use it on the Wizrobe enemies in Wind waker.
Is the actor of the Metalder Tokusatsu show?

Does anyone know the model of tv used in the first commercial?

A unknown Sharp TV, which is pretty funny since Nintendo and Sharp are good friends.
@lmphk looks better than the orange & grey space guns we were left with lol.
It's called "Urban Champion." There's a 3D remake on the Nintendo 3DS Eshop for 5 bucks.
@Rad1kus Thank you so much :)
Famili kompjuta XD Boże co to były za czasy xD
Japanese language always get me laugh for some reason idk why
Why the nes is vcr big unlike the famicon.
