Wario Commercial Compilation (1992-2021)

- Just felt like uploading a compilation of various commercials for Wario-themed games released between his debut in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins all the way to WarioWare: Get it Together! in 2021. As you can see, Wario's had more than his fair share of adventures over the years, and the games usually have very good marketing and advertising across each of the different regions. As a result, I decided to pick some of the best and most notable ads for various games released during that time, including games for the Game Boy, Super Famicom, Virtual Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, GameCube, Wii, Wii U, 3DS, and Switch. Needless to say, there's bound to be a lot of variety!
Wario is copyright Nintendo. - Ігри
When hypnotizing Mario's enemies isn't enough, hypnotize the player instead to do your bidding. Pure genius!
I love how this guy has more speaking skills than Mario himself.

I already knew the old cartoons.
But WHAT?
@@DrasticFox2004 Yes. Look up the Mario Sports Mix conference and Mario's 3DS tour. Charles Martinet does the voice (and not for Wario in these commercials).
@@Mac14329
Yeah, I remember the Sports Conference but NOT THE 3DS Tour.

0:59 Fun Fact: They still have the Mario and Wario figures used in this commercial at the Nintendo of Japan offices.
Cool
Do you know where they're at now? That was kind of vague
I really loved the French Wario Land commercials that start off with footage from other Mario commercials, only to have Wario bust in.
Wario Land is criminally underrated, WarioWare is great, but Wario Land deserved more love!
True
@@smb2fdstrue
@@smb2fds There's an upcoming game called Antonblast that is based on Wario Land.
Wario land is underrated and wario ware is overrated imo
@@alptugraakan7490 I recommend Antonblast, It's based on Wario Land.
From a actual villain to now a funny game developer. Go Wario!
And a occasionally anti-hero troublemaker.
Wario’s character arc is very underrated in gaming. At first he was a threat, these days he’s kind of a chill guy
When you phrase it like that, Wario's game series shows how much of a character arc Wario went through!
I like to think that Wario basically said "Screw it, I can't beat this guy" at one point and finally reintegrated into society
He's only been a villain in 3 games to my knowledge, mario land 2, mario tennis, and smash bros ultimate
Wario in 1990s: I am one of the biggest threats of the Mario franchise and I'm super greedy!
Wario now: I'm a goofy game developer and my employees are idiots. I'm still greedy though
Edit: I just realized that Wario is based on Bluto, Popeye's rival. It makes sense judging him by his appearance.
Still greedy
There are two types of Wario: Standard Wario who goes to hunt treasures and WarioWare Wario, who develops games to satisfy his greed
We have been getting more of WarioWare Wario as of late
Wario then: I’m so angry & I hate my doppelgänger & he must be defeated!!!
Wario now: I just wanna make money.
We should all mature & strive to be like Wario.
That's not "all".
Wario kissing the bomb and it exploring in his face always kills me
He enjoys it, too.
Me too but also when his teeth break and made the message "play it loud" too
I'm surprised it didn't kill Wario, really!...
Exploring in his face?
Gross.
the sight and sound of him biting his cracked teeth until they shatter makes my skin crawl with cringe
it's like that feeling of drawing your fingernails across paint primer or a chalkboard
I love when sprites are animated like you’re playing a cartoon! We don’t see them often, and that’s what makes them special.
It’s utterly confounding how the outdated pixel look is more popular, as someone who grew up with 8 and 16 bit games we were dying to move on from those limited graphics and get games that looked like Wario Land: Shake It!
@@protocetid Because of nostalgia.
And 32+ bits 2D takes even more time to draw.
@@ikagura Does it take longer? I’ve seen pixel artists be treated as specialists, making nice art that effectively uses a low number of pixels is no easy task specially if gamers want it to adhere to the limitations of 80s-90s machines.
@@protocetid It takes a lot more effort to make an 8/16 bit sprite not only look good, but to convincingly animate it more smoothly and clearly. Take sonic's for example, dude has about 4 separate stages of running animations he has to go through each time he wants to run, so you know they had to work hard on making that look as seamless as possible, especially since you're going to see it a lot.
@@protocetid Palette and tile limitations are something else to be taken into account.
Yatch Club are great with that kind of stuff.
2:00 (The best Wario commercial imo)
Wario sounds too cute for his own good. THIS JAPANESE VOICE IS JUST SO PRECIOUS I CAN'T. The animation is so good too. I wish more commercials were like this. You can just TELL people put love into making these short advertisements.
That's Chikao Ohtsuka as Wario in that commercial, who also brought Dr. Eggman to vocal life up until his death.

@@MarioSonic2010 What a legend.
Old Wario:
*Obey Wario, DESTROY MARIO.*
New Wario:
*GIVE ME ALL YOUR MONEY*
I honestly do miss these commercials.
Me too!
Of COURSE Wario’s Mario’s childhood rival, @@NintendoTV64; but he’s STILL Mario’s negative counterpart!
Me too…
I never grew up in the 1990s but these commercials look fun and interesting not bland and boring we have nowadays
Commercials back then: are animated and are fun and exciting. Despite being pretty low budget.
Commercials now: show the game. Say it’s good. Play the game. Say it’s good.
*Sigh* I miss these types of video game commercials. They had style, originality & actually made me beg my relatives to buy me these games.
At least some are still happening and no need to add a sigh
I really love the stylistic consistency between all the American Gameboy commercials. Makes me imagine what a more 90's Mario cartoon could've been like. (The Mario world show is just the 80's show with dinosaurs, I mean a real 90's show)
I would do heinous shit for a Wario and Waluigi animated series
But…it WAS a real 90’s show. It wasn’t even released in the 80’s.
from evil boss to game developper...
Wario kinda aged up badly
Well he kinda became game company manager but still he is a game developer
Super Mario Land 2 came out in 1992
Wario is 30 years old now
He had a rockin' youth but had to settle down and find a job, like all of us. Such is life.
He matured. He realized he can’t be middle-aged & still trying to upstage Mario, that’s Bowser’s job.
He kind of manage to do Great Achievements along the way.
Example: Wario Land 4 for the Gameboy Advance.
@@nintenbetasYOU MEAN OBAMAHAHAHAHA
I like how wario isnt a perfect unmatchable beast here to save the day and defeat all evil
warios just a guy looking for a quick bag and might even do a little bit good for the world

1:43 you know the guys doing the commercial had fun with the game when they straight up show you the ending
ONE of the endings. They left the surprise for those who wanted to max out their cash.
30 years, of *WARIO!*

Fun fact: Wario knows about the commercials he does. He mentions being in commercials in the Wario Land 4 instruction booklet under the “Puffy Wario” section.
Even these commercials have SO MUCH PERSONALITY! :D
The animated wario commercials are like candy, they hit such a sweet spot especially that stop animated clay warioland 4 👌

Damn I miss Wario Land (I've only played Wario Land Shake It, but still). Who else wants the series back?
Me
Me!
Me especially.
I wish they make commercials like this again :(
Wow! The Mr Burns voice really fits him. If Wario appears in the movie he’d better be voiced by Danny DeVito or Christopher Colleen’s
I was also thinking Danny should voice wario if he is going to be in the Mario movie 2.
Discovering that Wario Land ad makes me feel like it forms a trilogy with the SML2 and Wario World ads.
It was a trilogy of Mario games before After the success of the third game that Wario took over the Mario Land series.
4:57 he sounds like a jojo villain especially because he's a vampire like Dio
5:03 could you imagine how stressful Wario Land 4 would be if the timer was that fast?

WARIO SHOWED US FUN
Just imagine some of these commercials in the style of Illumination Studios animation. If the Super Mario Bros. Movie is successful enough to guarantee a sequel, I hope Wario shows up in it, and if the sequel is also successful, I hope it guarantees a Wario Land spin-off/solo film.
Honestly, I see some big potential in an animated Mario cinematic universe with many different stories centering around different characters from the Mario universe. You can have the Mario movies, and then later we can have animated movies based on Wario Land, Donkey Kong Country, Yoshi's Island, or Luigi's Mansion, etc. I can see something like this working pretty well.
I absolutely loved the voice wario got before

@@martinignaciodoesstuff3995 It's actually Tiny Wario from the first three Wario Land titles, which includes Virtual Boy Wario Land (but not WL3).
I will never understand why Nintendo felt the need to shoe-horn Wario in to a Bomberman game. It's not like the character was completely unknown, even in the mid-1990s.
To sell well, probably
It's just a one time crossover between Nintendo and Hudson. Nothing wrong with that, Battletoads and Double Dragon did the same thing as well as Tetris and Dr. Mario too. It didn't take too long until Capcom start doing it with Street Fighter and Marvel.
@@VOAN For a collaboration tho, someone in Japan would probably say it's just a re-skin of Bomberman GB (Japan).
To be fair Nintendo and Hudson were good pals since the 80s, so putting in Wario could've been a goodwill cameo and to help it sell more

While Wario Changed Jobs and lifestyle, He still keeps his enormous Greed And his good taste for adventure (mainly due to greed)
I *knew* Wario's Japanese voice sounded familiar. That's Dr. Eggman! Dude's got a great voice for playing evil fat guys with jagged mustaches, apparently.
ワリオさまだ!
He’s also Dr. Weil in the Mega Man Zero games. A little jarring hearing the voice of arguably the most despicable video game villain to ever live come out of Wario of all people.
I don't remember the Zero games really having any spoken dialogue. Were there animated adaptations, or did Zero 3 or 4 have voiced characters? I've only played the first two Zero games.
@@Mitsuraga technically all the games have voice clips from most of the cast, but yeah, Z3 and Z4 feature it much more prominently if you ask me.
Also please play Zero 4, it’s absolute peak fiction.
I have the DS collection, so I'll eventually get around to it. I've only really played through Mega Man Zero and Azure Striker Gunvolt, as far as IntiCreates stuff goes. Hell, I've played Gunvolt twice and have yet to touch its sequel.
I would need to start Zero 2 over if I were to go back through it, because I didn't play it for very long. Everything I know about the Zero series I learned from playing the first one and watching that guy's eight-hour explanation of Mega Man lore.

@@destroyermcw626 Wario may no longer be straight up evil, but he isn't good. the best way I would describe him is...he's a bully, a bully that will sometimes save the day only because he wants the reward and nothing else, or the villain crossed him first and he wants revenge. so even when he's doing good, he's only doing it for himself.
This is awesome.
IKR?

What killed the wario land franchise was wario ware so im glad they still did not forget the other games from the wario land franchise
WarioWare didn't really kill Wario Land tho. Just overshadowed it
Happy 30th anniversary Wario
0:50 my dad actully buyed me the Japanese version of Mario land 2
So I think from what I've gathered, there is, in fact, an origin story here.
One might think that the timeline here starts with Super Mario Land 2, but instead it starts with Wario Blast. Wario is the counterpart to Mario but he comes from the Apocalyptic realm of the Third Dimension, which is being dismantled and destroyed and defiled by bipedal robots. These virtual boys have overrun Wario's home, turning it into a burning, blood-red extinction-level hellscape. Wario has therefore tried to escape, but he has to then make it through all the rubble. He Bombermans his way through until he's able to get to the events of Wario Land on Virtual Boy, where in the best ending he escapes on a flying carpet with a playboy model, a ton of cash, and makes it to the world we see him in now. From there, he's in Super Mario Land 2, trying to find somewhere to live and stumbles upon Mario's Castle in Marioland. After being violently kicked out, Wario believes Mario to be the fake of himself, and therefore Wario begins a journey all on his own, starting from Super Mario Land 3 onwards until Wario Land 4, where he finally feels justified, given his own identity, after meeting with Princess Shokora. After this point, he begins the Path of Ws, but until then lives in a gigantic Wario Castle, one he likely acquired in Wario Land 2 or 3. Wario World happens at this point, and we can assume he gets not quite the worst ending, but not the best, and has to endure the trials of the Shake Dimension to get anything to pay rent with in his new apartment. He gets to a point where he can actually be kinda comfy and cozy for a while, but in order to still live on his own and afford food, rent, etc., he goes into game development, now donning his famed Biker Wario getup. That's basically where things stay for the time being.
This is definitely my headcanon
That's a pretty cool headcanon. One small issue, however...
We see Baby Wario in Yoshi's Island DS, implying that he would have been born in the Mario Universe rather than the Third Dimension. Still a pretty cool idea for Wario's character.
@@grantwilliams2571 Baby Rosalina has a similar and much more apparent existential issue, I think Baby Wario would be a non-issue to this theory.
And Wario used to be best friends with Mario, south of the relationship was very one-sided. So he decided to get revenge on Mario in Mario land 2.
You missed Mario & Wario and Wario's Woods.
