So does that mean they get paid for all of the time they’re in the truck, including when it’s not moving? Employees get paid for all of the time they’re at the job, except for lunch breaks.

It will stop companies from leasing you a truck , controlling that truck and dumping all the cost on the driver. Who really has no say what’s so ever. Charging 900 per quarter for fuel tax like Pam.

You've got it backwards, it's the cheap labor company drivers that allow mega fleets to drive the rates extremely low. Most owner operators won't drive for the cheap rates that they pay company drivers.

When you can only work for one company and must do what they tell you then you’re an employee. Right now the company leases you a truck, you can only take the loads they give you can’t take other loads and they can fire you but they classify you as an owner operator because it saves them money. Then they got the need to spin it like this law is bad. With the new law either you get to run loads for whoever you want or you get classified as an employee.

This rule will give some power back to the drivers. Too many companies hiring owner operators and force dispatching them (control). The level of control points to misclassification of exempt and non exempt workers. It's all about lost revenue in terms of taxes, employment taxes.

Not really, there was a lot of state rules that determined either or. Also, it was like nobody's land bc there wasn't anything in specific. Trump came and made it easier to be 1099, but Biden wants to undo it all, which will cost him the re-election without a doubt.

@@ChrisL-oz4lp If you think about it, the misclassifications doesn't come from the trump era rules. It is something some companies did it regardless. This extreme law is going to affect a huge sector of the workforce. The small business that keeps the economy moving is going to suffer way more than workers not getting paid overtime. We are talking about complete businesses going out of business. Lots of ppl will be unemployed and the ones benefiting will be the big corporations. They'll hire more ppl for lower wages and less hours to avoid paying OT and benefits. This is not going to help anyone. Not to mention the cost of goods will go through the roof. The end doesn't justify the means, and if there was such a big issue with the OT and benefits, then it should have been handled at an industry and not a tax classification level.

Every time politicians come up with another rule or regulations. Whatever you wanna call them they just cause problems in that industry doesn’t matter what industry it is so here’s one for the politicians why don’t you quit making regulations or rules and maybe start removing some of them so people can get back to work And work how they want to and not how you want them to because you think you know better
