I knew you were going to have fun with this one. I’ve always had the feeling Black Swan was written with Jimin in mind. And it was a stroke of genius to have decided to shoot this MV in an actual performance art theatre, replete with all the architectural elements from the renaissance period. I loved it that they wore black and white, a true artist’s way to respect the colorful art surrounding them. My favorite part of this MV is definitely Jimin’s dancing. And the wings sprouting out behind him. Oh let’s not forget the rogue shadows, elusive and unruly like that of Peter Pan’s, in absolute detraction from the boys’ body movements. I loved the part where you could see Suga’s actual shadow meekly following Suga’s movements somewhere at a lower elevation than the rogue shadow looming above whose dancing was almost as though mocking in its anarchism. And then there was Jin and his reflections that were not. Oh, it’s all surrealism at its artistic best! Thanks so much for your reaction. I hear you on the abrasive carpet note for performers and dancers. I was skinned badly as a child once, trying to dive-grab a ball rolling away from the carpeted play area. Shahrizat Jailan rumour has it that there might be another MV with We Are Bulletproof. I love that song so I hope it happens! Wow I can feel your love for the arts in your words! I love it! And I agree with everything you said :) This MV is just full on genius! I do feel that because Jimin became so popular in the west, that they needed to put him a bit more in the Center of their pieces unlike before- he’s kind just been around. Good move tho!
@@JeffAvenue Well I am trained in architecture and currently working in the field too. We did dabble a lot in the arts and philosophy back in architecture school so I do have some background. What I love most about BTS though, is how culturally woke they are. Taehyung knows about famous artists from the past and present, and our president Namjoon is so well-read. His and Suga's lyrics often include cultural references not limited to their own.
Jeff, I saw someone on Twitter talking about the flip/cartwheel Jimin did at 8:25 on your video. The part where you coughed lol. They were saying that he did a move called “Illusion”. Basically, they said it’s a very difficult move and requires lots of flexibility, strength and training. This person actually broke a bone in their foot trying to learn the move. I just thought it was a very interesting information.
Girl WithLuv_And_UGH ! Ahhh yes. I’m not familiar with the term or maybe I am and have forgotten it lol. But yes I’m familiar with the actual move. Very difficult yes but it gets easier if someone is really flexible. The hard part is the change of footing on the floor (the one rotating to the other side). Their injury could’ve been attributed to the surface of the floor or not enough stretching time. If the surface of the floor is too grippy and your foot is stuck, with pressure from the other leg raising, it could twist the ankle or cause the foot to weaken and become imbalance. I think it helps that jimin has a black belt - this move is easier with that experience because given the training, it’s harder on your ankles and legs which prepares it for a move like this.
Dance and martial art is have many similarities actually. Both have similar basic, if you know what I mean I do both in my school days and my friends are laughing at me coz it's seems as two very different activity. I'm joining karate when I'm a freshman in highschool, then be traditional dancer in second year, seems ridiculous right? But I don't care what people say and keep doing my best on both... And guess what,, I participated in both for regional championship, get many experience, get more friends, and go to more places I've never thought I will be going.

That movement is very hard to do, especially if you're not balanced enough, or you have strong feet. Flexible too. What makes it even awesome is that when he rises, he actually hit that beat hard. It's not easy to reorient yourself when you do illusion.

A little late to watch your reaction to this MV but I'm glad I am checking it out - I LOVE your breathless reaction! As I've told many people, in this video my bias JIMIN manifested and IS the Black Swan!!! When BTS was promoting Black Swan in Korean TV, J-Hope immediately stated this MV is "JIMIN...JIMIN... JIMIN" & he's 100% RIGHT. I am thrilled that Jimin got to flex his Contemporary Dance muscles by not only beautifully performing his part, he dance the shadow parts accompanying Suga & Jungkook!!!! Thanks for stressing the difficulty of this choreography that BTS mastered AND for highlighting Jimin's phenomenal dance & beautiful lines. To me, Jimin is a GOD on stage & THIS is why this man is forever my fav 100% BIAS!
Dear Jeff, I'm glad we're both survived after watching this video. I really like to watch Jimin dance, the emotional things, the lines, skills......everything is so perfect!!
This is a beautiful MV & all the BTS member did such an amazing job!!! They really are remarkably talented & beautifully harmonized group of young artists! We all can see that throughout the video, Jimin is portraying so perfectly of each member’s emotional struggles of inner lights & darknesses as an idol & an artist with his amazingly beautiful contemporary dance movements! That is why when each member’s solo part of scene, Jimin would dance as their shadow at the back ground to show each member’s emotional changes, expressing their inner struggles & pain through his dance movements as their shadow! Jimin truly is unbelievably gifted dancer who could interpreted all the emotion of the music into his beautiful body movements so magically that he becomes an absolutely beautiful artistic masterpiece! His dance would just takes your breath away! Also the changes of lighting effects showed that at the beginning of the MV, their shadows are behind them & showed with wild emotional dance movements to represent they were denying their own darkness(shadow) existence & their inner struggles with their shadows but when scenes changes like Suga’s scenes & more, the positions of their shadows were shown at their front to represent that BTS are finally confronting their own shadows & accepting their darkness(shadows) as a part of them! In the end, the scene with JK, his shadow is melting into JK as there is no more fighting with his darkness(shadow) when he was finally faced & acknowledging his shadow(darkness) & accepting all, light & darkness!!! This is just my personal opinion but It would have been more wonderful if their outfits of dancing scenes were not the suits but something more suitable for dancers outfit to ease their movements & show their beautiful outlines of the dance movements! Because with these spectacular artistic lighting effects they were using, it would have been wonderfully emphasized each member’s beautiful outlines of their dance movements so perfectly! Nevertheless this MV is really amazingly beautiful artistic masterpiece!!!

This is a beautiful MV & all the BTS member did such an amazing job!!! They really are remarkably talented & beautifully harmonized group of young artists! We all can see that throughout the video, Jimin is portraying so perfectly of each member’s emotional struggles of inner lights & darknesses as an idol & an artist with his amazingly beautiful contemporary dance movements! That is why when each member’s solo part of scene, Jimin would dance as their shadow at the back ground to show each member’s emotional changes, expressing their inner struggles & pain through his dance movements as their shadow! Jimin truly is unbelievably gifted dancer who could interpreted all the emotion of the music into his beautiful body movements so magically that he becomes an absolutely beautiful artistic masterpiece! His dance would just takes your breath away!
Also the changes of lighting effects showed that at the beginning of the MV, their shadows are behind them & showed with wild emotional dance movements to represent they were denying their own darkness(shadow) existence & their inner struggles with their shadows but when scenes changes like Suga’s scenes & more, the positions of their shadows were shown at their front to represent that BTS are finally confronting their own shadows & accepting their darkness(shadows) as a part of them! In the end, the scene with JK, his shadow is melting into JK as there is no more fighting with his darkness(shadow) when he was finally faced & acknowledging his shadow(darkness) & accepting all, light & darkness!!!
This is just my personal opinion but It would have been more wonderful if their outfits of dancing scenes were not the suits but something more suitable for dancers outfit to ease their movements & show their beautiful outlines of the dance movements! Because with these spectacular artistic lighting effects they were using, it would have been wonderfully emphasized each member’s beautiful outlines of their dance movements so perfectly!
Nevertheless this MV is really amazingly beautiful artistic masterpiece!!!

It makes me sad that you have to apologize for praising jimin and assure everyone you love all of them to avoid being called a solo stan bc people get upset but if it was any other member you wouldn’t have to worry about being called a solo stan but i guess army’s just hate it when it’s jimin being praised. i'm not sure if you noticed this or not but the shadow behind Yoongi is Jimin's, also there is a shadow above Joon it was also jimin's but i think the shadow represents each member...jimin represents the black swan and in the end he collapsed...also i think the shadow in the last scene is kook's
jnai solar yeah that makes sense! Cause jimins whole bit solo is referential to the black swan (with his feather boa). I didn’t wanna doubt that suga might’ve been able to dance his shadow but it does make more sense that it’s jimin haha. And I agree I think the last one is jungkook’s by the body build.
