I’ve realized that keeping my journal separate from my planner works so much better for me. When they were combined, I was always either too far ahead or falling behind, which made it impossible for the book to last exactly a year. Now that they’re separate, I have the freedom to journal whenever I want, as much or as little as I feel like, without worrying about space. I’ve also discovered that I love using **triple weeklies**-one for planning, one for meal planning, and one for tracking what I eat. This system keeps me organized and on top of everything. When it comes to planners, a Bullet Journal is the best fit for me. I love the flexibility and look forward to setting up a fresh one mid-year when the current one is full. I also like the fact that I can change the layout week to week AND I can have as many tracking pages as I want. I absolutely love it!
I learned that I function best when I plan daily, weekly, and monthly. I tried to do less (just weekly or just daily), and it left me feeling less prepared and less productive. Thank you for sharing your Hibino journey; I revisit the videos for ideas in my journal and planners. I’m using one this year for daily planning and space of infinite opportunity (former Passion Planner girlie).
I learned I do not like ring, spiral, or disc bound planner or journals. I want a bound book style that lays flat. Currently loving my Sterling Ink Common Book. I don’t know what I didn’t realize this years ago, would have saved me a few dollars. Enjoyed the video.
I learned last year that I enjoyed setting up my planner more than I enjoyed using it. I’ve had a rethink and a restructure this year and I’m trying a few new things: one minimal set up and one reprinted so there’s no set up. However, yesterday I bought 6 journaling monthly and weekly kits. I don’t know if that means that I’m just falling back into old habits or if it’s because I’m missing my creative time.
I learned that sizes larger than A6 do not work as my planners. I love long form journaling in A5 but for planning I need A6, it may also be pocket or passport. Optimally A6 for my main planner. So even weeks does not work because it's too high and too slim.
Hmm, I think I learned that I know myself best and what will work for me, so if it doesn't feel easy and intuitive, it's not the planning method or insert for me.
