I write on paper to develop some projects because it helps me delineate and iterate better. The issue is that I like A5, but they are too big to carry around (especially if I'm working on multiple projects simultaneously) and the notebooks have way more pages than I actually need, and A6 is just too small and a bit uncomfortable to write, so I bought a Traveler's Notebook and 3 blank inserts and gotta say, I'm liking it. It's comfortable to hold, the Midori paper is great (I write using black fineliners, and really just write, nothing else), and I can track 3 projects at the same time while having something that's easy to carry around. Maybe I'm a bit of an exception because I don't really do journaling, just some daily annotations to not forget ideas or things that happened, so it's been interesting checking around UA-cam what people use them for. My "system" is just the cover, 3 blank booklets, and a pen being held by the elastic band. And I really enjoy how simple-but-rugged everything looks, compared to the Leuchtturms I have and sometimes still use.

Bought this for 2025. I had a kinbor for 2023 and a take a note for this year, yet I am not quite satisfied with the space TAN had for me this year, I hope I can have planner peace with the Midori Hibino for next year! By the way, thanks for this video!

I use pocket notebooks as scrap paper basically because they are random notes and reminders that would need to be processed or filed away. Or random brain dumping journaling that I would not keep long term - so over time I have learned to just make little booklets or use cheap random notebooks rather than the nice ones like field notes that are too pretty! 😂

I have definitely seen pocket notebooks becoming a thing even out of the stationery community … I think people are realizing there is a difference when actually using your hand to write out notes and thoughts. Scientifically proven that you remember more what you write by hand and your brain processes the information differently than when you type, for example. Also a big contrast to all the digital and screen-based things we do today! I always enjoy my time doing anything analogue 😊

I’m always baffled by people who only use a schedule. I need a master list, notes about people, maintenance logs, inventories, gift records. The list goes on. Rings are the only way to go.

Agree 100%, and I was a C&P user, exclusively. Unfortunately, I seem to see work that Ashley has done show up months later on similar planner sites, and that’s wrong, too. I’ve gone to MomAgenda and Colibri now, and am content. Good job!

I’ve actually been getting back into to my tns these past weeks trying to clean up and organize and I’m really deep into my tn love vibes right now 😅 It’s so nice that stationery can bring so much joy! Love all your tips! 👍 and I agree ultimately you just have to do what works for you even if it’s super simple… sometimes we are too influenced!

I think my issue with TN is that I daily journal quite a bit. A hobonochi day-free lasts me half a year or so and can be pretty thick with all the things I paste on it. And the TN insert is only 60 pages or so. But I still wanna give TN a go, so I might just use it for ephemera keeping? Since it has a lot of pocket inserts, and go from there. The cream-colored Tomoe River paper provides a soft vignette for your eyes,...copied from the Baum Kitchen site...so it says it IS TOMOE RIVER cream...52gsm paper...not sure why you are saying it is NOT ...? It says on their site that it is...should I double check with them? Midori does have their own paper though...and it is pretty good with watercolours...thanks for your in depth revew...very helpful...except I am all confused now about the type of paper...Janis

I am so very much on the fence with this Hibino. I appreciate your take and perspectives. I just have to make up my mind.

I waited until the 15th to place my Hobonichi order and got everything I wanted. Everything was in stock. There was a single item out of stock and I’m not just on about things I wanted. I’m talking about every item in the store. I don’t understand this rush to get everything on release night, but I hear it from everyone. I try to get unreleased night and I couldn’t get it because the site went down yada yada yada it’s BS. It’s just severe FOMO but me personally I got an AI a weeks mega and two A5 cousins.

I try not to spend much money on inserts which are just functional and I won’t keep. You can get a set of 4 inserts with decent paper for about £7 from Amazon. For journals I want to decorate, memory keep and do art in I buy a better one or make my own. In fact if you are creative making your own inserts is so fun and gives a great sense of connection. Personal decorations can be so much more individual too rather than buying pre made expensive brass tags.

I´m re-dating a Hibino from 2024 over to 2025 to use next year and it fits really well (with room for chunk) in a OX Knight a6 cover from amazon. Its a replica of Moterm but it actually fits the Hibino, the Moterm does not. Just FYI if you want something other than clear cover ;)

I like the A5 Cousin. Sometimes I feel it is too small, but I don't want to carry a bigger size either.

To me if someone KNOWS that they KNOW that they KNOW that they WILL NOT keep up with some sort of daily ritual, if you will, writing in their planner then that means that a planner containing daily pages is not for them. If you FREQUENTLY go back….year after year after year and have chunks of blank pages then that person may want to consider a blank note, or a companion or some sort which most of these planner companies sell. I “allowed” myself to stop the pressure of daily journaling although it felt great on the days I was able to do it it felt not so great when I was just ready to go to bed or when I was forcing myself so a page wouldn’t be blank. I bought an AE companion so that is what I will use since journaling will in fact be sporadic.

I really like the sweet moments and positive self-talk sections. I have a gratitude section. That’s good for mental health. Thanks for your ideas.

This looks so lovely chunky to start with. I wanna try it so badly. I have a Cousin and an A6 (the A6 mostly acutally as a commonplace/notebook) and I am not getting a Weeks for next year. So .... So excited to see this! I'm going to be using a Hibino for my 2025 EDC. I'm using one this year (I originally bought it for another purpose which didn't work out) and I love it. This year I have the mint and I got the camel for 2025. It's such a great planner and you don't see it very much on UA-cam (Eliza Journals is one of the only channels I know of that has one) so it's great that you've done a review! Thank you 😊
