I agree totally. We missed out on some potentially enjoyable dramas due to perceived "misbehaviors" Its unfair to all the rest of the actors and production teams.

Hi Marcus! I am gobsmacked that something that happened 4 yrs ago is being brought up in Huang Junjie's current situation. It's interesting that as these young actors start to begin to have flourishing careers, an episode or "scandal" (only in the little minds of some) create havoc. Jealousy, stirring a pot to just get their accusations seen? I agree with others here, netizens seem to carry far too much power and creating trouble for no reason in the entertainment industry. I think every popular star has had some nasty netizen create a problem. What is the issue? Looking forward to many of these dramas. I am watching The Insect Detective 2 right now, it's been interesting as they build the mystery up. I loved Men in Love, the bromance that was the focus was amazing. The women not so much. I appreciate these dramas of showing the friendships of men, a little different than that of women friendships...different issues. Stay cool, it's very hot in my area and summer will be brutal...looking forward to having some good shows to watch in the AC!!
It’s ironic in that I read so many comments from “netizens” who claim to love their actors/actresses and yet, the slightest mistake (PERCEIVED mistake or choice that is considered taboo), and netizens show their true colors as demanding, immature, selfish, malicious and unhappy pirhanas just waiting to devour those they “claim” to adore. There are many in China that have been persecuted much more harshly than the offense committed warrants. It’s like China gave the world literal stars from the sky, brilliant, bright, beautiful, warm and mesmerizing and then watching as each of them are snuffed out by anger, hate, judgement, and perfect ideals no one else lives up to either. Hypocritical….🧐
I’ve only started watching C & K dramas in the last 6 months and it became apparent quickly how openly abused these actors are and how they have to live their lives walking a minefield of rigid expectations, from fans to their agencies to the government.
I’ve seen this in several ways. One that particularly hurts me has been the too thin and frail appearance of some, Luo Yunxi for one. Til The End Of The Moon was my intro to C dramas and just wow!!! But discovering how thin he was…😢. 2nd discovery and instantly in LOVE, Tan Jianci & Lost You Forever. That man’s talent is jaw dropping. Such a magnetic aura, the expressive, beautiful eyes, quiet sexy voice…. There is SOOOO much more to him than the snap judgements on his height. 🤦🏻♀️
The rabid obsession and unrealistic expectations, the clinging and feelings of “possession” are a side effect of living in a dualistic society that DEMANDS perfection while also restricting or monitoring every word or free creative expression, and the ability to truly LIVE any way you want to be happy. Alllllllll of that intense emotion that is suffocated has to go somewhere & sadly, it explodes all over other people that the depressed and suppressed see as the only joy in their lives. It’s VERY difficult to live your life in 100% strict self-control all the time so you don’t get in trouble, stressful and keeps one in a state of fear and agitated. Any release one can find to let out all their love, joy, excitement or, anger, resentment, even grief is an avenue many will take to cope with their unhappy lives. Fear and resentment are projected onto their heros they see as living the “best life”, then jealousy rears its ugly head and they lash out, happy to see their idols fall and suffer with them. Its an act of confusion and intense pent up emotion heartbreakingly directed at those who are only human too…. Forgiveness, compassion, empathy, awareness that these are “people” with flaws, desires, emotions, fears, dreams just like all of us, will free one from the constant battle for joy and contentment in life. Don’t keep looking for it in others, find it within yourself and follow your own passions.
Having said all of that, they have no right to judge, shame, bully, demand anything from their idols. At the end of the day, no matter what country you live in, every person is a free, sovreign individual entitled to live their own lives however they choose. For the sake of these lovely people I really hope these harmful attitudes change soon. I look at Luo and Tan and see the light shining from them like beautiful stars and yet, there seems to also be an aura of sadness around them at times, a reservation that dims their light. The eyes are sooooo magnificient and expressive, I see it there…. It’s like caging gorgeous angels and clipping their wings so others can enjoy looking at them, not understanding that now their true essence and beauty has been destroyed….The most beautiful things in this world MUST be free to be truly appreciated in all their glory. Then the light they shine is blinding! As it should be.
I will continue to watch K & C dramas and support my faves however I can with love, respect and appreciation for their talent, hard work and beauty - just as they are.

Thanks Marcus for the update. I finished watching Tender Light and I am pondering on why did I really watch it. It started very well but in the whole 28 episodes am not sure who annoyed me the most. The crush turned police officer, the ex best friend, the girl who ran behind zhou lou, and that senseless person who felt everything in his life was fault of zhou lou. It was difficult to see that Nan ya did not have even a momentary happiness in her life. I also wonder that if it is family matter but conducted badly in public, how is it different from lynching? They shus be in prison for that even if it family matter. Failed to understand. Everyone knew he was abusive but not a single person was on her side. The ending was very crappy and rushed. Also I tried to find chemistry between zhou lou and Nan ya but it really did not exist. I could have skipped it.
Well that sounds kind of unfair... Its not like Nazha hasn't been up to her eyeballs in cheating scandals but they don't seem to have a issue casting her as FL! In any case, she has 100 pct hit rate for making terrible dramas so maybe its a blessing in disguise for HJJ.

The drama might remain called Si Jin in English as the novel as is also called that and is translated as that or the brocaded tale of the girl named Si but the two main characters are Jiang Si and Yu Jin so I’m half expecting the title to to follow the manga version and be Si Jin the combination of the two names or the alternate title. I’m curious to the changes as in the novel hero Yu Jin isn’t just a general he’s the seventh son of the emperor but there was no mention of that in the summary so I’m wondering if they are going to change that and cut out the court scheming part of the drama for time.

Legend of Shen Li is probably the best series I’ve watched so far this year. And really good series seem to be far and away these days. There’s so many cringy series being cranked out. Hopefully low viewership will slow that down because we viewers deserve better for our money.

@@5877user I watched it because Zhao li ying and Kenny Lin. Xian xia isn’t my cup of tea, I just care about them. Don’t care about anything else 🤣. But IMO story become more interesting after ep 18. I like technical aspects eg: CGI, cinematography, camera angle. Really appreciated that. Zhao li ying also really dedicated herself for Shen li character 👍🏻. I don’t expect the ending so satisfying like that. Did you watch princess agents? They become my favorite CP after I watched princess agents

The Huang Junjie controversy is weird...like I heard he cheated, apologized and took timeoff filming to reflect but also his girlfriend at the time came out and said she lied and apologized....like which is it???.....I don't like cheaters nor condone it...but If he did...he aready paid for his past actions and deserve a second chance...

I'm Chengyi's fan but I personally don't have anything against Huang. I can say that many of CY fans initially didn't know about Huang. But someone resurfaced Huang's previous scandals and very quickly the scandals got disseminated. Chengyi fans hence got worried that fandoms of other rival actors would report the series after it wraps up filming and before it airs for casting an actor with previous moral misconducts and may cause the series to be banned from airing. After the series Love and Redemptions, rivals would always look for every tiny hole they can find to block CY series. Legend of Heroes was reported numerous times making it uncertain up until now whether it will ever be aired. CY spent months (almost half year) filming it and he even got badly injured from it that he had to rest and couldn't take on any new project for several months after. I hope people can understand where his fans are coming from. They just didn't want him to take a big risk and put his months of hard labor to waste. Chinese entertainment industry and fandoms can be complicated and toxic. It's dogs eat dogs out there. It's very sad for every party. Chengyi didn't gain anything good out of this entire controversial opening but a new set of haters only. :( That's why I ask if people wanna hate, just hate his fans but not CY himself. I think CY is personally okay working with Huang otherwise he wouldn't have accepted this project.

Exactly, we still don't know which is which, it's still unclear, I totally understand Cheng Yi's fans point of view, there are potential risk.
It is weird. I heard she even had audio tapes of him. But his family contacted her and they met up with her. It was only after that, that she apologized. And she also said in her post that he chose not to sue her because he didn't want to hurt her. Kind of sound like she was paid off. If she really did lied he should have sued her.
@@pclkck what I think is that he actually did cheat....she even had messages to prove it...but after it seems someone contacted her to change her stance especially knowing it would affect his reputation and career....so probably she felt sorry given their history and or monetary compensation...so she tried to do damage control. But knowing he would still be dragged...he took time off so things can cool down....and here we are today.....like if he was truly innocent...he would have probably legally tried to clear his name already....
But they should give him a second chance though....he didn't kill anyone and hopefully he reflected on his actions....
I like and trust Youku..i know some of their drama are not good too..but mostly they are good quality ..even the low budget one, like God Dominator, is till good although it's not even an A drama... Their live adaptation of donghua are very good and at least 90% will follow the donghua version. Not like WeTV/Tencent & iQIYI that gives me disappointment like Burning flames ( Wu Geng Ji), Fight Break Sphere 2 ( Battle Through The Heaven), Legendary Overlord, Eternal Brotherhood ( Purple River), Douluo Continent ( Xiao Zhan and actors acting helped this drama, otherwise this drama will be another down since the story is so different and so many unnecessary filler but leaving the important story away).. TBH, I think only Youku should be allowed to make a live action drama from donghua than those 2 TV production.. they changed the story whatever they like...

Huang Junjie is an adult, he had 3 years to take legal action like Johnny Deep but he didn't. Now everything is unclear and uncertain, I don't blame Cheng Yi's fans for being cautious, too many drama have been buried for less.
Not every one likes to take legal action (unlike Johnny Deep) and there might be reasons which we don't know about. In any case, we are in no position to judge unless we hear the truth from the horse's mouth. As for Cheng Yi's works that have yet to see the light of day, these are not in his control but are under the decision of his agency HRC and again for reasons best known to themselves.

JOL2 is such a disappointment for us who aren’t fluent. Tencent ai can’t even get the pronouns right much less the nuances. It’s a billion dollar company and they can’t do accurate subtitles but bully us instead? Not 😎
Just watch it 1 or 2 days behind the VIP airing schedule. Tencent is dropping it with AI generated subs but they go back and clean it up. The corrected subs are about 1 day behind and you know its good when the “Subtitles generated by AI" warning disappears. I went back and looked at the cleaned up subtitles and they are good.

The FL might be his sister in the new drama but she can’t act to save her life. I would rather that one girl from TTEOTM who was paired with him in Mysterious lotus. Just wish most Chinese fans can let their favs breathe and live. In America they don’t have this issue.
