- When Kale and Caulifla debuted they had potential to be interesting and cool characters in the Tournament of Power, but Dragon Ball Super has written them in a way that makes them unbearable. In this video I'll explain why Kale and Caulifla need to just go away already.

I thought of something that would go down well: Kale is being beaten up by some opponent and Caulifla tries to help but can't do anything, then she is furious to see her sister being beaten up and she can't do anything, this triggers her transformation, ready, it would be exciting and less forced
The manga just leaves it up to interpretation, instead of funny back tickle bs

Ribrianne's irritating as all get up but at least she isn't getting one ridiculous power-up after another. Kale and Caulifla went from being Saiyan Saga Vegeta strong to Majin Buu Saga Vegeta strong by just tingling their backs. They're forcing this whole "strong female" thing down our throats and it's RUINING all of Dragon Ball
I wanted Female Saiyan to be a thing, but what we got isn't even close to what i was hoping we will get. I wanted to see strong, well behaved, experienced and matured(More than 30 Years Old) Female Saiyan. Instead what we got was an obnoxious, loud and annoying Mary Sue who thinks she's the shit when in fact she's not, and emotionally unstable brat who wouldn't even be able to tie her shoe if Caulifla wasn't anywhere near her.

My thoughts excactly. Either do it right or don't do it at all. If I were to choose between what we got and nothing I would choose nothing. Their characters are complete shit and they got on my nerves every time I saw them. They dress like whores, they act like whores and they are so overpowered for no reason. EVEN I could make and design a better female Saiyan. Have some buildup at least. Why have them become from weak to extremely powerful in just 60 MINUTES. I could write more paragraphs about how stupid they are but I won't.

@@shamanri7186 Keep in mind that Goku went through only six days of 100g training on his way to Namek and it dramatically changed his power level. In comparison, Trunks regularly would try to train along side his father in extreme G's. At similar points in their lives, Goku and Vegeta had relatively relaxed training with Goku only training with a heavy turtle shell, and Vegeta not pushing himself because of his arrogance. And for comparison, Gohan was only a few years older when he turned SSJ for the first time.
Kid Trunks was probably on the same level as Namek saga Goku just in his base state. He certainly had the power. And we already saw that the emotional stress doesn't need to be real. Gohan just imagined it. Trunks could have done something similar.

Dragon Ball Super is written exactly like a 16 year old's fan fiction, hot female super saiyans, one that resembles Broly nonetheless, the return of Bardock etc. It's just a never ending stream of "fan service".

You are so right. It seems so unnatural that super saiyans have twig sized arms.
It made sense for SSG Goku to be on the slim side since he was using deital power but a SSJ is about raw power, it's always lead to big muscles. Hell, Grade 2/3 came from pushing that even farther.

Slight disagreement. The way he went SSJ was hard enough to believe because it prompts you to think, "So absolutely none of these Saiyans-who fight to bring about peace-have ever gotten really angry in the HISTORY of U6?" The way he went SSJ2 was poor as well, and felt like just a box that the writers felt needed to be checked in the middle of the bloody tournament. Cabba was bad enough, but he's a masterpiece compared to these two DBH fan-inserts.

The whole reason they even exist is due to how society is atm. I like that they have finally added a female super saiyan because it was long overdue. The thing is its a great idea but done the wrong way, Cabba was new and unique in terms of a saiyan, very respectful and gentle he was a breath of fresh air. Kale is just a straight up Broly rip off and Caulifla is pretty much Goku.

Here's a way that they could have introduced them: ACTUALLY HAVE A LEGITIMATE BACK STORY THAT WOULD LOGICALLY EXPLAIN THEIR POWER.
Maybe something like their parents being the strongest of their race, and them training so hard all their lives and fighting enemies that have killed their parents that they just gradually grew stronger. But even still, they should have only had the SSJ2 when they hit the tournament and the situation was just that serious.
But because of the plot holes caused by the bad writing, these two characters are a stain on the series.

There are plot holes but kale shouldn’t be explained. Beserker saiyans don’t need to be that in depth. She is similar to broly but weaker. She is the legendary super saiyan. Her power doesn’t need an answer why. Caulifla does though. The reason they give isn’t believable but otherwise I’m not annoyed by her. I can’t really care caulifla went ssj2 by accident the first time and couldn’t do it again until she met goku. It’s honestly whatever. I was fine with it. I find that more believable than gotenks being able to go ssj3 imo.

I can forgive Kale's rapid progress (to a point, she shouldn't be on par with SSB Goku), because she's a totally different kind of Super Saiyan.
But, Caulifla is a total waste of potential. What made Super Saiyan such an iconic form is how damn hard it is to achieve. (I have a theory on Trunks and Goten).

If they'd made her earn the form, I'd actually really like Caulifla. But yeah, as a Mary Sue, she's just not a character I can enjoy. And now this Kefla shit's going to make things even worse.
Dark Pariah She was said to have the most potential on planet Sadala, and she two has been training (like Goku) just to be strong and just for the fuck of it, I guess Caulifla had Super Saiyan in her from all the training she just needed motivation and confidence to unlock it, seeing Cabba have it pushed her over the line (even though at the time she had no idea it existed) but I get the feeling even though she had no clue what Super Saiyan was it's what she's been training for, metaphorically, anyway that's just my sum up of how she obtained Super Saiyan, and even if anything I say is debunked I can forgive her cause she's literally the first female saiyan on the show, something fans have been asking for for decades, I'm not about to throw my wishes away because her back story is a little off...

@Laughingstock Media You forgot one key point about GOhan transformation into a SSJ. Goku shot him with a SSJ Kamehameha and could have killed him in order for him to achieve SSJ. Goku nearly had to kill Gohan for him to turn into a SSJ. Caulifla just twerks and becomes and SSJ.

@@kenstorm707 The Namekians weren't on God level they fought against Gohan and Piccolo, Jiren trained for years because of his family and friends dieing, Toppo transformed into a God of destruction, Frieza because plot, I'm pretty sure Future Trunks wasn't on God level, Hit probably because he's the legendary assasin idk about Dyspo or Aniraza.
@@Ricomcdade23 Gohan's improved Ultimate Form was a match for Super Saiyan Blue Goku until he used his full power. And the fact that the fused Namekians could match Gohan means they were were at that same level.
Future Trunks fought against both Goku Black and Zamasu for an undetermined period of time while Goku and Vegeta were recovering. He might not have outright beaten them, but he held his own, which in my eyes means he was least Super Saiyan God level in that state.
Dyspo was fast and strong enough to overwhelm both Freeza and Gohan, who I already said were God level. That puts him in that threshold.
And it took all of the remaining Universe 7 fighters to take down Aniraza. I think that speaks for itself as to how strong that beast was.

These two had so much potential but of course, bad female writing had to creep in. For anyone who want good examples of strong characters (who just so happens to be females) here are some examples:
Saber, Celty, Nami, vidalia, Katara, 18 and Bulma.

They become super saiyans in a short amount of time (kale even became a female broly which is silly) and now they are being pushed over established characters like hit and cabba. I think we’re all avoiding the REAL problem with Super and that is the writing in general. We would all most likely feel differently about these characters, even Ribrianne, had we gotten short arcs introducing their character/personality before this tournament. Since that didn’t happen certain characters are basically being shoved in our face and due to this being their first time in the series we literally have ZERO emotional connection to them. What makes it even worse is that characters like Gohan, Piccolo, 18, 17 and even Vegeta to an extent are being placed on the back burner for these new characters. That’s poor planning and writing from Toei.

If we at the very least had say a short flashback about why Ribirriane is the crazy "Love" character she is, maybe she didn't "share her love with someone and that person got screwed" and then "she DID share her love with someone else and that person turned out great so she kept sharing love with people and all this 'Love Sharing' somehow gave her her transformation or something, and as a result she felt like 'It was her destiny to spread love as far and wide as possible'",
THEN, she probably wouldn't be as annoying as she is because we can at least have an idea of why she is what she is and why she does things the way she does.
But as is, she's just "a stereotype who uses love related attacks". And a super annoying one at that. She has no redeeming qualities because all we know about her is her abilities and the fact that she has a "Love fetish". There's nothing to like about her otherwise.
These characters don't need to be deep. But they need to at least be CHARACTERS, and not just concepts. Especially if these "characters" are gonna get more scree time than 80% of the other people in this tournament.😤

When have we ever seen insults make someone turn super saiayn though ? Goku turned SSJ from seeing his friend die. Vegeta did some space thing. And Goku basically forced it out of gohan. Future gohan trained future trunks into getting it but he couldn’t at first. Goten and trunks turned super saiyan because they wanted to. Any of those before nobody cared about even trunks and goten. But now when the show is telling us that caulifla is a prodigy (probably more then gohan). Goku is telling us she is basically a natural with saiayn transformations, and Cabba helped to get to SSJ1 it’s a problem ? That just sounds like hate to me. We now know that anger is not the only way to turn super saiyan anymore, maybe that worked for goku and them but that’s NOT the only way to turn super saiyan anymore and people just have to deal with it. I honestly believe that Caulifla is even worse than Ribrianne at this point. Sure, Ribrianne is annoying, but she was meant to be that mostly unimportant comical relief meme type of character who appears every now and then, says something stupid or funny and gets blasted away for couple of episodes. Kinda like Mr. Satan of Universe 2. Now Caulifla on the other hand is actually significant to the plot and this fact alone makes her so much worse. One of the biggest problems facing super is that it doesn't have enough world building. Which makes conflicts like you universe survival arc feel forced.

There should've been an arc for those two before the tournament. Maybe Frost kidnaps Pan under the false assumption that she's Goku's daughter and Gohan has to travel to Universe 6 with Videl and Piccolo to save Pan, giving us some fan service with those character and exploring who Caulifa Kale and Cabba are as they fight Frost?

Also, look at Geekdoms recent video. It's not Toriyamas fault, or Toyotaro..it's pretty much Toei. Toriyama writes a guideline and Toei fill in the in-betweens. Same with Dragonball Fighters with Android 21. The way the characters are directed depends on the writing skills of these people Toriyama have left in control

Actually the fandom does not hate how goten got SSJ because they makes jokes how goku was already a SSJ and busted a nut inside Chi Chi and that’s how he was able to turn super saiayn or he had no tail so it was easier or he has more potential then gohan did. Her base is strong on top of having different biology then the U7 saiyans. She also had a teacher to turn SSJ just like future trunks and teen gohan did. Goten trained with Chi chi(fucking Chi chi) while trunks accidentally and most probably just found it that not even his father knows about it. This kids, barely even 10, can become a super saiyan because of childs play is more believable than young adults turning into one because someone taught them the trick on how to do it without the abstract shit like "the form comes from a need, not a desire" that really does not explain anything on what they do to be able to transform other than "I'm angry, so I can transform" shit by your logic. It's not disrespect. It's something we call progression. New characters get stronger while the old ones either do or die trying to eclipse them.
Here's the thing.
For all those transformations we saw in Z, they had to *reach* the power level *necessary* to achieve them.
However, Cabba alone already had a base power level higher than every character in Z, as proven by Vegeta when he said their base forms were evenly matched during the U6/U7 tournament (at that point, Vegeta's base form was stronger than Goku when he first became a Super Saiyan God). Caulifla and Kale are as strong as Cabba. So by default, they have the power level necessary to achieve any of those forms. They just needed to learn how.
I imagine Super Saiyan 3 is a different case, because we don't even know *what* Goku had to do to himself to achieve that form, but Super Saiyan 1 & 2 are definitely doable.
SSJ 3 seems to require a massive amount of power, Goku being dead and having infinite ki is likely how he even found the form to begin with and it took Goten and Trunks fusing to pull off the transformation. At the time, it was incredibly powerful but it was a ki vampire. Unless those two can also BS their way into having amazing amounts of ki, SSJ 3 should be beyond their reach. But then, holding off SSB Goku is also BS.

They are popular because they are girls. Super is the product of corporate greed and commercialism, so what's popular will be focused on the most. People with taste who are interested in story, characterization and well-scripted dialogue and action can see through them.
Kale and Caulifla(especially Caulifla) appeal to the lowest common denominator, which sadly is most of the vapid viewer-base. It's like how those god-awful Michael Bay Transformers movies are somehow popular, people with integrity who care about things that matter see them for what they are, they are ultimately outnumbered by people who just want to see explosions and bits of metal flying all over the place, like a child entertained by a rattle.
It's also because of such pandering to these kinds of people that Dragonball is in the state that it currently is. IT's why everything always has to be about Saiyans now, it's why Goku and Vegeta are always the ones in the spot light, it's why characters like Gohan and Piccolo are not being used to their full potential. It's why everything is so focused on "power levels" and attaining new marketable forms which ultimately just serve as crutches for bad writing and letting stupid people and children think they know what is going on and building false suspense. Yuck.
Exactly. Its like Toei gave up bothering with writing anything of substance because it doesn't sell to this fanbase. The reason GT failed to Toei is because it had no merchandise or marketability. There weren't new forms every few episodes, and there was 1 prime form utilized. It also looked too different from what the nostalgia blind fanboys remember from SS1, so what do we get SS1 recolors. GT was about story regardless of what you think of it, it had character development that was more consistent with EOZ and more subtle than just your cliche rage-boosts and "i'll never forgive you" speeches, but you get that everywhere in Super because that reminds the fanboys about Teen Gohan. The fandumb really has its influence on killing the real progression of the series due to their standards being so low from their nostalgia..
Memories of a time where they couldn't comprehend writing they will tell you to just enjoy the ride and turn your brain off because thats how 10 year olds think. Toei really has no idea how to market the series and have good writing because to them one cancels out the other. Because this fanbase cares for one o the other more strictly. They also know they can cut corners because the western fanbase only cares about cool fights and buff characters. Hence that Broly is more popular here than he is in Japan. Now every new character feels like they were written with Broly in mind.

The main appeal of DB in general is in the entertainment; the fun of watching the main characters go on adventures, meet new people, new places, new technologies, and the way they keep getting stronger as they fight stronger people or discover new techniques. It's just light entertainment, all logic on power levels had already been thrown out the window with the introduction of zenkai boosts and not a single explanation on how it works or its consistency. Super has been far less power levels focused than Z, everything is just relative now rather than "X is 2349123 times stronger than Y", it's the PL obsessed fanboys from Z days that are ruining everything and bringing up PL on every Super-related discussion.
For the U6 saiyans, if Cabba in base form was really as strong as Vegeta's, then none of U6 "power ups" we've seen thus far is any more absurd than we've always had in DB. Fight me.

I personally have very little issues with Kale. Really the only thing I hated about her was how overpowered she was made, walking through Goku's Kamehameha while he was blue. Clearly fan service for those who love Broly, and I'll get to him in a bit. Caulifla on the other hand is just garbage. I don't mind specific Super Sayain bargain sales because that creates more diversity and opens up a lot of possibilities. Gohan reached the Super Sayain state far before Goku ever did when he was his age, and he had hidden power and he's half Sayain. So it works itself out. Same with Goten and Trunks. I like the idea of the younger generations continuously finding it easier to get stronger, but even with that, I can understand why many would hate that.
Caulifla learned how to become a Super Sayain in a few minutes by doing some type of mechanism with her chi through her back which was just plain awful, and then later became a ssj2 trying to stop Kale. She's also rumored to be gaining ssj3, and that's just even more awful. I know she's a prodigy and all, and they probably could have actually given her JUST ssj1, and have her actually work for the next transformation later on in the series, similar to Cabba.
As for Broly, it's true, his character is relatively simple, but simple can be great if executed correctly. A Sayain that doesn't have to train and is a genetic freak of nature motivated by pure destruction who's power rises the longer he stays in his legendary state. Personally I see nothing wrong with this if done correctly. They gave Broly all that rage just because Goku cried next to him which was garbage and clearly rushed. They could have given him a really dark emotional backstory AFTER he and Paragus escaped Planet Vegeta once it was destroyed. That could later on explain his unusually psychotic behavior. They could have been really creative with just a simple idea.
A really great example of this is the Incredible Hulk. People love him for being a nigh indestructible monster who's next to impossible to stop, and only gets stronger the more you anger him, but people ALSO love the Hulk, because Banner had a messed up life resulting in a even more messed up mind, and what most people don't know is that BANNER ALWAYS HAD THE HULK PERSONALITY WITHIN HIM. It just needed a gamma explosion to manifest itself physically. They could have done a similar idea with Broly and therefore Kale.
In any case, both Kale and Caulifla could have been given a much better story, but even with what they have now, it could have been executed so much better. Kale not being so overpowered (or just have not turned Broly into a female), and Caulifla NOT gaining the Super Sayain transformations so easily. I repeat, sure give her one transformation if you want, but the rest of the forms should be earned through blood, sweat, and tears. Prodigy or not.
Friendly reminder that Gotenks got SSJ3 no problem, a form much harder to get, Gohan is the so-called prodigy/ultra latent power guy in U7 but he literally never got it despite surpassing it long ago. He doesn't NEED to use it, but I still want to see it. Gotenks in ONE WEEK mastered SSJ3 without any...anger, any emotions, any years of training. They achieved SSJ2 offscreen (most likely), something that took Gohan nearly a decade and Vegeta even longer and got a form that took Goku 10 years post-returning to earth to get from SSJ1 that even Vegeta couldn't get... In a week. A week. Fusion or not, if SSJ transformations are supposed to have work put into them, Goten and Trunks NEVER had to put in NEARLY the effort the others did. And it's not anything to do with halfbreeds either. Future Trunks, Future Gohan, and Gohan had to BLEED years of their lives away to get to even the first form.
It's quite clear SSJ forms can be given out freely willy nilly. And for Caulifia, it serves a story purpose more than just oh give gotenks ssj3. Why not? He won't beat Buu anyways lol. FFS Gohan meditated for a few hours and surpassed SSJ3 Goku without having trained in seven years. Elder Kai or not... Like...Come on, now.
I think the point of Gotenks getting SSJ3 Was to show JUST how powerful Fusion was. It was less Goten and Trunks, and more the Power of the Technique.
So wat Goten and Trunks got it when they were 8 and 7 due to geentics the saiyans evolved even said bg the surpreme kai

I agree with most of this post, though Goku crying is not what motivates Broly - it’s Goku’s power awakening his Saiyan instincts. In the Japanese version of his movie, Paragus posits this idea before the crying flashback (which was just supposed to foreshadow Goku and Broly’s final fight). In Dokkan Battle, there’s a moment where Paragus says the same thing: “Kakarot’s power have awakened Broly’s Saiyan instincts” or something like that.
As for his psychotic behavior, the movie just chalks it up to his amazing power. He never learned how to control it, so his rage issues became worse the older he got. And we definitely have seen that in relatively small spurts with characters like Gohan who became pretty damn cruel and merciless when he ascended against Cell.
Of course kale and caulifla are women. That's why they get everything handed to them(saiyan forms). It's feminism at its finest.
Or bad writing? Did Trunks in Super not have the exact same Asspulls?

You know this video actually makes sense. Despite having an interest in the character Kale I feel that both her and Caulifla are getting much worse. Out of those 2 I think Caulifla is what made it even worst in 113. The only silver lining in that episode was good animation of SSJ3 Goku.
Goku, trains for like 20 years, gets super saiyan 2. Caulifa is just given the form after like a day. Kale is like as strong as berserker broly and it's like, broly has literally been training for his WHOLE LIFE. I'm sorry but toriyama is so stupid sometimes

Everything you said is how I feel about Goku being stronger than Vegeta. The fact that Goku achieved UI before Vegeta makes absolutely no sense following what has been shown in the anime. Even if you don't like Vegeta you have to admit that the anime has shown Vegeta training longer and harder than everybody else in this series. Makes me wonder why they even bothered to show him training so much at all
I mean goku was trained by so many different people so plus he has way more techniques than vegeta, so I kinda get why he's always stronger, but if it makes you feel any better goku has never defeated vegeta in a fight before

You don't understand why Broli is popular dude... it's because he comes off as the embodiment of invincible. Hes bland because he's supposed to be, embodiment characters sing one note, but when they sing it well everyone wants to hear it.
Just my opinion but the writing for caulifla and kale would have been better if they were introduced before Cabba. Or if the writers established that kale and caulifla we're already Super Saiyans instead of them just learning it all in the span of a couple seconds. Heck even if the writers wrote that Universe 6 had their equivalent of a Time Chamber we probably wouldn't be having this discussion now. Just sayian dbs writing leaves more to be desired and if compared to the other series the story of super is worse than gt

Have you thought of this. Cabba, Caulifla, and Kale are kind hearted saiyans that are incredibly powerful who have been genius' since birth, fighting and training since birth living amongst saiyans. The most important line in the show was when vegeta said that cabba's base form was equal with his. That shows that these saiyans are very much like those of universe 7 in their love of fighting amongst each other and against strong villains. So basically even by universe 7 terms they are extremely powerful, especially when cabba is searching for another saiyan he believes to much stronger than him. But the main point is about the tingling midoclorians in thier back, the main problem with that is that you have to ask "wouldn't many more people stumble on to that?" What if there is a minimal level you must become before the back tingle would even start, the two boys goten and trunks were born as prodigies like freeza with incredible power already within them and they stumbled upon the super saiyan transformation. But only a few of the universe 6 saiyans were at this level. The leader of the saiyans of universe 6 probably stumbled upon this as well, he will use it in case of impending destruction. But doesn't spread the news because he doesn't want anyone to challenge his power.

Cabba is so much more interesting and innocent too , also his relation with Vegeta is great character development for Vegeta and makes Cabba much more interesting. Kale just gets pissed for stupid things like a child without acknowledging what's actually going on and Caulifla gained ssj2 and ssj stage 3 way too fast , ssj 1 is understandable but still annoying because you don't know how much they have been through in their base forms before the u6 arc . Also Cabba was trained to become ssj by Vegeta who is much more capable at using ssj transformations than Cabba who when taught Caulifla , she gained ssj 2 easily (keep in mind that Cabba learned ssj fast because he had also seen Vegeta use it so he could base his attempt off of Vegeta's transformation) before Goku trained her . Obviously , all three of them are prodigies or they wouldn't be fighting for u6 but still.
