      Children just shouldn't be brought to any rally whatsoever. It's like you said, they have no idea of what's going on, so what's the bloody point. That goes for both sides of the rally.

      Which the rate of abortions performed because it the baby posed a danger to the mother is less the .1% percent, but lets make a deal. The only time a woman can kill her unborn child is when that baby can prove fatal to her at birth. Deal?

    The fundamental thing the no campaigners were ignoring was that the abortions were happening regardless, it's just they were either happening in an unsafe and technically illegal way, or they were happening outside of the country.

    • @sinead6759
      @sinead6759 6 років тому +12

      No campaigners were well aware abortions were happening, but due to it being illegal in Ireland the numbers were far lower than the likes of our European counterparts, the no campaigners recognized that the legalization of abortion has always led to the number of abortions increasing. Plus just because something happens does that mean we should legalize it? by that logic should we legalize things like fraud, robbery and other murders because they happen anyway? I mean how stupid is that argument And abortions can't be called 'safe' a human is killed during one and abortions in countries which provide 'safe and legal' ones can be botched, look into the botched abortions of Marie Stope's clinics. Plus some pro-lifers would like to make it illegal again for women to travel for an abortions therefore you can't trip us up on the argument of ' you don't mind them happening abroad.'

    • @sinead6759
      @sinead6759 6 років тому +2

      I know a lot of bias news outlets ran that headline, but it's simply untrue, abortions can carry many risks, abortion is an unnatural procedure, child birth is not women have been giving birth for thousands of years, are you denying that there is botched abortions, look into the botched abortions of planned parenthood and Maries Stopes

    My friend travelled to Marie Stopes in Liverpool when she was 17. She was sexually abused as a child and was told she could never have children. So she was surprised when she fell pregnant. Marie Stopes staff treated her horrendously because she was from NI. Once she had the procedure, an hour later they told her to leave the clinic. She travelled back to NI on the same day and had a painful recovery. 2 weeks later she was rushed to the Royal hospital and a scan showed that the abortion failed and the baby's heart was still beating but the fetus was deformed. They had to perform emergency surgery. NI and Irish people should not have to leave their country to have an abortion. It's vile treatment.

    • @EUnotsogreat

      Yes so best to stop abortions altogether. Before the 8th was repealed there was approx 2,700 abortions per year carried out in UK. Now since repeal 8,500 carried out in Ireland. Not good.

    This is such a private, personal decision. The only way the government should interfere with this is to make sure these places are safe and sanitary and follow medical standards. I don't want to see Society go backwards and for people to die having to either do this themselves or go to someplace that doesn't follow the standards a medical facility has to by law. Very scary and very, very unfortunate.

    • @jomama5186
      @jomama5186 5 років тому +3

      @Maria Aquos I agree for the most part, but it should still be a legal option for women that are NOT in their 3rd trimester. Like Hannah says a couple comments down, it just prevents unsafe, illegal, practices. This was a major victory for women regardless of what year the case was won. It was put before supreme court and that should be the end of it. It's a hard enough decision to make without a woman being considered a criminal for making that very hard and private choice. I don't want the gov't interfering with my very personal body functions or my choices. It won't stop abortions from happening. Hillary was and is an abomination, who's impotence caused the deaths of many good people in Benghazi. I have zero respect for the wsub-human or any of her policies. It's all fine and dandy to have the chemical alternative but it can't be a woman's only option. And there are people who for wtvr reason, may not have birth control as an option. This is a last resort. I think of a young girl whose parents are in denial that their son or daughter is sexually active at all, and said person finds themself in such a desperate situation, or a working professional, who can't take two or three days laying around sick & miserable in the bed, but can maybe manage to take one day off to have their termination in a safe, legal, sterile, gov't sanctioned Drs office/ medical environment. To say its not an option or take this option away would be stupid as well as potentially fatal to said person and going backwards. This fight was won and should be a done deal.

      @@celestejacobs7386 Then why do you have to "abort" it? If embryos aren't babies, there's no reason for you to "worry" about anything. We all know you're not that stupid. An abortion isn't like going in to get your molars or tonsils removed, or even an in-grown toenail or Lasik surgery...we all know what an abortion is doing. You just have become so calloused and brainwashed with hate that you think the developing human (regardless of stage) is nothing more than cells -- makes it so much easier to "logically" disassociate with the fact you are killing a human.

Women deliver at 6 months and babies that pre mature survive. I think 12 weeks is even to far along to carry out an abortion. Maybe 5 or 6 weeks should be the latest. Women who decide to not carry on with pregnancy should have a decision by then. From someone who miscarried at 12 weeks, nó one should want to delay that long

      @Shaun Parkinson I am not debating whether it is right or wrong. The church it self use to advocate abortion up until the time of quickening just a few short years ago. I am saying we as Christians have no right to push our beliefs onto non believers. As I would not want them to push their beliefs onto us. In the Bible Israel did not go into other nations and demand that they follow the rules of the Prophets. America is a melting pot of different religions and we have to respect their beliefs. This is a religious or moral issue not a legal issue. Just a few short years ago birth control of any form was against the law, putting woman into impossible situations. Watch some of the documentaries where woman were sent off and their babies taken from them (babies that they wanted) and then starved and killed after birth because they were unwanted children. It is a complicated issue I agree with that. That is why it has to be an individual descision, the same as end of life care. I personally have made it known if I am in a coma to not put in a feeding tube to keep me alive, to let me die. Yet there are others who want to fight to stay alive no matter what and that is there right, just do not subject me to the same standards. I do hear what you are saying and think there should be something in place to prevent later term abortion, you know in the first few weeks before quickening if you are pregnant this non sense of abortions after the baby is viable outside the womb is awful.

      @@chickeninyeezes3759 Before you start to use that black and white argument let me educate you on this history of abortion and the early church. As late as the early 1900s abortion was legal up until the time of quickening which is basically 6 weeks along. How an abortion was performed was a woman was given natural herbs to drink that would allow the fetus to detach and the woman would just have her normal menstural cycle. Similar to the morning after pill. Then in the early 1900s male doctors and their egos did not want women going to midwifes they wanted to be in control so since at that time men were running things and they were the ones in office and the ones who voted. The next thing you know abortion is completely illegal and for some reason the church followed suite. Women had to take it to the supreme court to get their rights back but as in most things the pendulum swung too far the wrong way and now we have late term abortions which was never something the church would ever condone. If you want my personal opinion we need to go back to the way things were during the early church. No one should be allowed to have an abortion when you are so far along that the doctor has to go in vaginally and remove the fetus.

      @@UkkyUke I do believe women should be autonomous over their bodies. However, I'm invested with what happens to MY child too. If men were included, maybe we could come up with solutions that would prevent men from just walking away from their responsibilities. If a woman is charged with murder for abortion, shouldn't men be charged with murder if he beats her into a miscarriage? In my country, they are only charged with assault on a pregnant woman. Of course, abortion is still legal, but that will change soon.
      Don't you think men should pay all the medical bills involved with the pregnancy since you as the woman is actually risking her life during the pregnancy and childbirth? Do you think women should be shamed for premarital sex? Are men ever shamed? How many men out there have been shamed for creating an unwanted child? None?
      Did you think of all the benefits of not going it alone? Life isn't fair and reproduction certainly isn't. I'm not saying we'll ever be able to come up with a solution that will make it fair. I think if abortion is 100% legal, you've cut the man completely out and that isn't fair. If abortion is 100% illegal, then the woman no longer has any control over her own body or life and that isn't fair. I don't know if we can ever come up with a solution that will make everything balanced. I do know that, if men think they don't have any rights to their unborn children and aren't allowed to take part in the conversation at all, then I don't see us being able to give up trying to control women. It's how we gain autonomy over our lives. Instead, we've become polarized on the issue. We see it as black and white. The woman's right to her body and quality of life versus the potential for the fetus to actually be a life! I don't think this issue is black and white, but, how are you going to know whether or not I have a solution if I'm not even allowed into the conversation!

      well one of the questions you pose already HAS a clear answer. If a man sires a child, and his partner chooses to keep and raise it on her own, he will be legally responsible for child support payments. As for the 'beating her so hard she has a miscarriage' scenario, that is a clear case of assault and battery; if she miscarries as a result, that might make the normal penalty harsher, hard to say by what degree tho.

      I think anti-abortion people don't usually think of the problems that follow making abortion illegal. Men would be able to rape children and women to force them to carry their offspring, knowing that the rape or pedophilia victim gets punished by law if she gets an abortion illegally or won't be able to get it at all.
      Many times the rape victims are underage girls, even as young as nine year old children, but who have had their periods and are able to conceive, forced then by law to give birth to the rapists baby.
      If a rape victim is underage, she is much more likely to die from childbirth due to her body being underdeveloped. But it's risky even for an adult woman. So the little child/girl, teenage child/girl or the adult woman would maybe die giving birth and suffer even more physical and mental pain because of rapists or pedophiles?
      Even the women who are irresponsible in using protection and birth control (which both aren't always effective), know the aforementioned things, so probably they have mental illness, alcoholism or drug addiction, causing them to not think about protection and birth control. I think those people have probably suffered enough, and they shouldn't have to go through more pain because of an unjust law.
      Studies have shown, that most times the rapist is someone close and familiar to the victim, there are even many cases where the rapist is the victims own father. There are cases where a father has kept his daughter or some kidnapped girls prisoned for years and forced them to have his babies. If the pedophile father happens to want to sexually abuse and rape even the babies, who he forces his daughter or the kidnapped girl to have, that is completely made possible also, otherwise, if abortion was possible, the pedophile might actually decide to allow the abortion just so he wouldn't get caught because of a baby wailing and signaling to the neighbors that something wrong is going on.
      Why aren't people using their common sense and thinking things through, thinking about all aspects, if abortion becomes illegal, it gives criminals an exellent opportunity to basically breed and have rape and pedophilia victims carry their offspring without consent. You could say this to anyone who says a woman goes to hell for having an abortion. Maybe some of the people against abortion actually are rapists and pedophiles in secret.
      I believe that if God exists, even if the clump of cells aborted happened to be sentient and has a soul, the soul would go to God and live in heaven or be born again in this world in another body.

Yes, I class myself as a feminist, and yes, I'm further left than most people, but I have common sense, and I also have reasonings behind what I think. Even if we disagree, there's no reason to just throw a straw man at me. My definition of feminism is simply that of believing in gender equality. It doesn't mean I want men to die, that I hate men, or that I think women are better than men. That's called misandry, and by definition, misandrists should not call themselves feminists.
      I'm also not too sure what my hair colour had to do with the argument. I just fancied making it green because why tf not, it has nothing to do with my political stance lmao.
      Anyway, I hope you have a good day. I took the time to reply to this because it confused me and I'd like to hear more from you, not because I'm angry btw ✌🏻

      @@Iron_Stigmata The first part of your statement is absolutely correct. Everyone should indeed have the right to do what they want with their own bodies. Would you agree with me that nobody should have the right to do what they like with the body of another human being? If so then the only question is whether an abortion
      involves a woman controlling her own body or someone else's. To me the science is pretty clear. It's a separate body. The only area of a woman's body that is targeted in the case of an abortion is the area that has another human being inside it. The 'my body' argument is based on a claim that is 100% false so the argument

    As a man I have NO right to tell a woman what to do with her body in regards to pregnancy because I can never become pregnant. But mostly because I have no right to tell anyone what they can or cannot do with their body. I will never know what choice I would make about being pregnant. No one can say how they will react to a situation that they have never faced or will never be able to face.

    Pro-CHOICE! So happy for you, Ireland! Better late than never, no more unneccesary suffering, everyone should have bodily autonomy and the right to choose.
    Edit:
    I'm tired of replying the same things over and over again. So here are my responses.
    1. No, per definition the "baby" you are speaking of isn't alive yet. No heartbeat, no way of surviving outside the womb, no brain activity. Most of abortions are performed before these are present. Pretty much as alive as a plant at this point. Later on, that's a different discussion.
    2. Can't murder something that isn't alive (see point 1.)
    3. If you don't like abortions, don't have one yourself. I'm absolutely fine with you not liking abortions, my only issue is with people who think they have the right to choose for others.
    4. On bodily autonomy: 1. You have total control of what is allowed to be done to your body, even after death.
    2. Nobody is allowed to infringe on that right, for any reason, without your consent.
    This is why you can't even use someone's dead body to donate organs that would save someone's life, because you can't do that without consent from the deceased. Your organs could save 10+ people, but you are still not obligated to be a donor. Why you can't be forced to donate blood or a kidney, because you have the right to say no, even if that results in death for the other person.
    You are not legally obligated to use your body to save someone's life, this includes the right to not go through with a pregnancy. A fetus is using the mother's body to develop, it is attached to her, so the argument that it's a separate body is irrelevant, because it is still using her body and can't survive on its own. You are not obligated to use your body to save or sustain life against your will.

Perhaps it's really a decision between the woman's discomfort in pregnancy and the life of the fetus. It’s all about self respect. That’s when it really starts, that’s the core root of the problem. If girl or woman get pregnant they just can’t take that out on baby and blame baby for their mistake. It’s about paying consequences for your actions, not killings baby. Woman can give up a baby for adoption when the pregnancy end and denounce parental rights. Then should be a choice not if she can abort baby or not. The whole issue should be attract from different angle, and no one should kill unborn baby up to 6th months because human life it’s not a choice and it should be never put in this category. Young generation it’s sadly brainwashed by media and television. They use feminist slogans like:”My body, my choice”; “Stop policing my body”to prompt people to vote yes and repeal The 8th Amendment which is far beyond the truth..

    Abortion is a tricky topic, ethically: While it is technically killing a human being, while the baby may have a disability that it won't really last long or live at all anyway, while it is essentially the right to murder, on the other side the mother's life might be at risk, or she might not be ready to have a child and have to give up her baby as soon as it's born, which would be awful. The mother might already have too many kids, and can't handle any more, a similar situation to not being ready for a child, really. It's hard to pick a side, but maybe it's easier if you're in that situation.

    Awful, I never thought I'd see the day that Ireland would legalise abortion. It's a shame,I believe that the baby is a separate body inside, a body, literally what's happening is if a woman gets pregnant 5 times and doesn't want a baby she can have 5 abortions. I've had 3 miscarriages,and those babies had heartbeats at 9 wks, how is that not a human being. It's like saying that someone in a coma should be killed because they've no brain activity, but their hearts still beating, so you wouldn't kill them that would be murder, as they have no say in the matter, abortion is murder, there are other options, it should be difficult to have an abortion, then maybe there wouldn't be so many, a plane trip to England's expensive. I know there are circumstances where women get pregnant through tragedy, but there still are other means if they don't want a baby, there are plenty of people who do, please before doing something that you might never be able to forgive yourself for, explore every option, a foetus is not just a bunch of cells it has its own unique DNA from conception,

      Adoption isn't as easy as it seems. That takes money to do. Adoption agencies are maxed out in terms of having more toddlers than infants, the preferred adoptee. Many times that toddler maxes out at age 16 then are more or less shoved out and lead lonely lives because of not being wanted.

      Fertilization does not occur for another 48 hours after sex. The little swimmers have to make it up past the cervix, a battlefield trying to get through that defense. Then make their way through the uterus to meet up in the Fallopian tube which is where the "big thing no one sees" happens. Implantation takes at least 72 hours since it has to float from the conception point to the implantation point in the upper wall of the uterus. So by all intents and purposes, the Morning After pill guarantees no implantation and therefore the fertilized egg is just expelled as a normal period.

    I tend to be pro-choice. It’s should be up to the woman to a point that is reasonable. But if you look at what a baby looks like in the womb at around 8 weeks it absolutely is a growing human. I use a pregnancy app to track my pregnancy. It is very hard to dispute that the growing embryo is a distinct human life. I can't in my right mind claim the life growing inside me is my body because it simply isn't. The app gives updates about the development going on. This app is not pro choice or pro life. It's just an app. Whether we are religious or not, science says it is a life. It is not a cancerous clump of cells, is is purposefully growing into smt, it is how we all started.
      I personally believe abortion should not be used as contraception but only when medically needed. Inconvenience cannot be a reason to end another life. We need to be more responsible about the choices we make so that we aren't in situations where we need to end a life. If anything we should be coming up with laws to hold fathers more accountable for the lives they conceive and help support women who end up alone dealing with unplanned pregnancies. We need to rally behind each other and find good solutions. Making the life growing inside us pay for what's wrong in society, I don't know if that's healing us or making us more sick as a people.

So he basically let his own personal tragedy interfere with his work, which is selfish and unprofessional. If he felt what he was doing was wrong it wouldn't have taken an event like that for him to realize it. Over 90 percent of abortions are performed in the first trimester. If they are performed later it is usually due to a severe fetal abnormality. Dr. Levantinos video are misleading because they grossly exaggerate the reality of what a typical abortion is actually like. @@culeluke9953 I didn’t see your 2nd question so I’ll answer it for you now. A woman is a female human being or creature.
      In my home country up until recently if a woman was to have an abortion she would get a life sentence in prison unless her life is at risk the rapist would only get about 8 years longer depending on the offence. So that just shows it should be a choice not having access to free, safe and legal abortions in a country is dated and anti woman. I don’t see why the woman should have to suffer from the rapist wrong doing and give birth to baby who she doesn’t want in addition to be reminded of the offender every time she looks or thinks about it. A woman comes before an unborn child.
      You ignored my last points about how having an abortion is not of your business or anyone else it’s the woman’s choice alone and no one else’s you shouldn’t be telling people what to do with a pregnancy as you don’t know what the circumstances are with the woman are your not the one having the baby. she might not feel she is ready to become a mother yet, she might too young or in school, not working and unable to afford care for the baby or look after it properly. No woman should be forced to have a pregnancy that she doesn’t want.
      If you don’t want or support abortions that’s fine don’t get one but forcing that view on others and preventing them from getting the heath care they need or stoping them from doing what they want is wrong. Abortion being legal is not forcing you or anyone else to have an abortion as again that is your decision, and nobody else’s. making abortion legal is making it so woman in that given country have access to free safe and legal abortions if needed.
      It’s a woman’s right and it’s what’s best for everyone.
