- 19 New Updates Everyone Wants in Redstone Update! Minecraft redstone is a pillar of the Minecraft community, but there hasn't been a dedicated update for it since 1.5. In that case, it's time Minecraft redstone got some new updates and features the community has been asking for in the upcoming 1.18 and 1.19 releases. Whether that's adding movable chests like bedrock edition, automatic crafting, or even colorful redstone lamp disco floors, these are some of the most wanted Minecraft redstone features in this Skip the Tutorial list!

The pistons break red stone bit isn’t inconsistent, that’s just a time when Minecraft actually obeys gravity. The red twine dust falls when the piston gets extended, but when the extender is on the other side it doesn’t affect it
It's just simply because one side is non-transparent, while other sides are transparent when extending

When the piston head on the left goes out the top facing hitbox has to be updated to reflect the head not being in that tile anymore. the hitbox is quickly disabled and re-enabled to swap them out causing the redstone to have no block underneath it for a brief moment and breaks.
could still be fixed though
Nice
Actually, the piston switches bounding box quickly enough. The issue is that the redstone’s bounding box is much bigger than it looks, leading to the redstone overlapping the empty space
wut
Honestly, I'm pretty surprised nobody talked about this, but what about extendable pistons? You could use the crafting table or change it by right-clicking, and by doing so, the piston could move blocks by 2 or 3 spaces instead of the simple 1 space.
see: bendy pistons datapack
No major redstone update since 1.5
I would say even though they were not fully for redstone the updates that brought honey blocks and observers were really amazing for redstone, now all we need is honey pistons
What would honey pistons do differently to sticky pistons? It could move mobs, sure, but only ones that are right next to it. Upwards facing ones wouldn't do anything different anyway, and downwards facing ones would only pick mobs up briefly, if they'd even work that way at all. Plus, very little, if any, mobs are an exact block amount tall
@@thegreatautismo224 their hitbox just needs to be in the block in front. It would be useful for me at least.
and what about sculk sensors I say wireless Redstone is pretty huge
@@Voxonthetube they aren't added yet.
@@thegreatautismo224 Maybe honey pistons could keep gravity blocks from falling, and maybe they won’t let other pistons push them away if they are touching the head of the honey pistons. They would also would not pull slime blocks back, but anything else could, just like normal honey blocks. You also can’t jump high on top of them
1:23 you don't get the desire of bedrock players to have a debug stick/customize shields
*0:36* Mumbo Jumbo has already covered that. I agree with him, this feature would be too overpowered and would ruin the fun of manually moving blocks with pistons to places you want them to go. I'd better pretend that this idea is bad, though it definitely isn't.
Maybe rather than automatic crafting table something like Press which would turn 9 pieces of some material in 1 block/item (Gold nuggets > Gold ingot, Gold ingots > Gold block)
@Dacky but for better automating Gold farms And connecting them with bartering farms
I see what you’re saying, but an update that would allow you to automate a craft (assuming that all the needed materials are present, perhaps in a chest connected to a hopper) would be way more useful on an unimaginable level

I like them all, but if I could only live with one, the change that would make orientation of certain blocks like hoppers and observer blocks editable is a must.

Similarly, editable signs would be nice now with the addition of glow sacs. I don't like needing to break a sign and reapply the dyes and glow sacs to the sign just to edit text.
if i had designed the redstone system, the daylight sensor would detect light level not the time of day, blocks with item frames with clocks in them would output to comparators the time as different strength signals, dispensors would sheer sheep, place liquids and blocks that obey gravity but not drop items, animals could be fed via a trough block or by picking up dropped food items. and maybe an ender chest like block that has an inventory tied to the name it is given in an anvil tgat can be accessed by hoppers which would allow for long distance/cross dimensional item transport

Regarding elevating dropped items vertically, all we need is a dropper that functions like a hopper. It will automatically spit out, being it into the world or into the inventory it's facing at a dropper's rate. It will have so many other applications too. Automatically dropping items into the world, without the need of spamming a redstone signal to it, has huge applications, for vertical item elevators and so much else.
I recently built a huge furnace array with redstone, and you would not believe how much of a nightmare it was, to simply get the droppers to eject all items fully. With the new addition, it would automatically spit out the items, as soon as they enter its inventory (like via a hopper).
Place a chest with a hopper below it, facing sideways into this new dropper hopper, in a tower all facing up, and you have your item elevator, without the need of redstone spamming droppers to make items go up.
I would really like a "Conductor block", its like redstone powder but its a block so it can transmit _vertically_ and in all the directions

Non-Stackable Item Filter
A new block that can receive items through hoppers and dispensers.
This block has a GUI interface with 2 slots. Slot 1 is where you will put a ns item (eg. shulker box) Once an item (ns) is placed in slot 1, it becomes ‘locked’ meaning you cannot remove that item by hand, with a hopper, a hopper minecart or anything. However you can break the block (with a pick) which will drop the block and the item. Because this item is now locked in the block, the second slot will ONLY be able to hold an item (ns) that matches the first item. Ie. a totem of undying in slot 1 means only a totem of undying can go in slot 2.
However a hopper underneath this block can pull the item in slot 2, essentially allowing a ns item filter in Minecraft that is automatic but still requires redstone circuits to input and extract items. Can be incorporated into storage systems using skilled redstone expertise.
Additionally this item will also be able to accept seconds slot items that have different durability’s. (eg a full durability wooden sword in slot 1 means that any wooden sword on any durability can be accepted in slot 2)
This ns item block filter will also be able to accept items with different NBT data in slot 2. Ie. a bee hive in slot 1 with or without NBT data could accept a bee hive in slot 2 with or without NBT data & different number of tags. Finally this block could also accept enchanted variants in slot 2 (eg. enchanted bows)
POSSIBLE crafting recipe: gold blocks in each corner, 2 redstone dust in middle column on seperate ends, 1 bucket in the middle (or another ns item or an expensive item such as netherite ingot) & 2 smooth stone in the remaining slots.
use allays in 1.19
I used to play a mod pack that had a funny combination of blocks that I exploited (the one about rotating blocks reminded me). The autonomous activator would right click for you. If you put the wrench in it whenever it activated it would rotate the block in front of it. There was also a mod that gave you a small chance of getting a trophy for killing different mods and each trophy, when you clicked on it, would give you a different effect. Open Blocks, I think, was the one with the trophy. Anyway, some just made sounds or gave you the mobs drop. The enderman trophy would throw an ender pearl, and if it hit you it would teleport you (more like a chaurus fruit does now). If you put the trophy on the autonomous activator with a wrench in it and pulsed it over and over the trophy would spin and throw pearls, teleporting anyone who they hit. It was downright terrifying in skyblock where there was a good chance you would get teleported into the sky.

1:28 that's exactly why I don't want and end update or a redstone update next, I just want a parity update
My question is, what would be the function of a heavy weighted button? I could see a purpose for a light one for multiple player confirmation, but it would require a ton of players to push a heavy one to actually make a difference
I don’t think he’s saying it would be the same differences as with pressure plates. I mean, the differences between wood buttons and stone buttons aren’t that entities other than mobs can activate wood buttons but not stone buttons (which is the difference between wood pressure plates and stone pressure plates) but rather that wood buttons create a longer pulse than stone buttons. (Note that wood pressure plates and stone pressure plates don’t have different pulse lengths, either.)
As such, I don’t think it’d be a matter of having gold and iron buttons being light weighted and heavy weighted buttons respectively but something else that would distinguish them from wood, stone, and blackstone buttons. Likely pulse length (since buttons in general can only be activated by players doing a particular action, so there aren’t really many variables involved), but it could be something else.
I think instead of a auto crafter, we got two new hoppers. The first hopper would condense any item that goes into it into the block form of the block. The second hopper would uncondense any block item into its normal varient.

When you put redstone on the side of a piston it takes 1 block but when the piston extends 1 third of said block is gone so the redstone breaks
That's because the redstone dust is one pixel too wide. Had it been one pixel smaller, it would've stayed on top.
Redstone dust is not 1 block wide, it's approximately 10x10 pixels, and since the piston head is 4 pixels wide (which means it's one fourth of the piston, not one third), t breaks off.

3:59 The question is: How should we craft a gold/iron button should there be one?
Nugget or ingot is the question
And why not mini diamond-emerald crystals?
Moveable Hoppers and chests would be cool, but many people would complain because they use w.g. furnance as cheap non moveable block for slime based technics.
Detecting weather and blockTYPES would be great specially when you could use in itemsorters to differentiate between itemstypes by useablility in other technical blocks e.g. "burnable fuel", "furnance smeltable", "compostable", "brewing fuel", "brewing ingredient".
"furnance smeltable" would be the most usefull, to avoid autosmelters getting hoppers on top stucked with non smeltable trash.
And smeltable stuff like e.g. gold swords are not sortable with the classic item sorters, so we need something for that
honestly all these features sound super op, i don’t want the whole game to be able to be automated
What is op about colored lambs
Exactly
I think auto-crafting needs some expensive block to make it work, so that it would be very difficult to have an entire “assembly line” of auto-crafters.
Most of the things can be automated anyway. The mechanics are just complicated enough to stop most of the players from playing with them. The way autocrafting is implemented into the carped mod seems reasonable. It's not op. Check Ilmango's videos about it
1:55,
I would like coloured sea laterns as well, because they look cleaner.
Dispensers having the ability to dye sheeps is a must for me, since I need it in my wool farm.
Skip the Tutorial: *Has an Idea.
Mojang: Write that down, WRITE THAT DOWN!
Mojang: *Doesn't write it down*
Maybe it would be cool if you had to craft sticky redstone with a slime ball and redstone dust, instead of just placing it on walls.
This is one of the best ideas i’ve seen in the comments
6:31 That is because the hitbox of the left redstone is on the part of the piston that extends and with the right one, the hitbox is on a part that stays in place.
Hoppers can be locked already which can work to have a specific path for items to take.
I had an idea for a reverse redstone comparator. It really only works on containers such as dispensers and droppers. If an item is detected, it will give off a 1 tick pulse, and continue doing that until there is no redstone signal from the container. I don't have a big enough brain to build this as a mod, but I did make a model of what it could be.
This actually might be useful, I always wanted inverse hoppers
comunity: red stone update

I honestly wish we had more machinery stuff, i remember long ago watching a dude build a drill that drilled out a whole chunk and had pipes moving all the blocks to places, was so cool
Would love some wires, like when I learnt that copper was being added I couldn't help but thing about copper wires, like mix some copper ingots with some redstone dust and there you have it, wires. Like they wouldn't power any components placed on the side but only at the ones they end on, also they could be Installed on walles
Nice idea
immersive engineering does this quite well.
you can craft redstone wires
And gives off more power
6:27 that actually works in bedrock edition
Yea, they should get more uses for Copper and Copper Wires would be awesome. I'm an see them possible carrying signals even further than Redstone other than using signal inversion.
As for the block rotation, that would be awesome for changing tracks in a train system for rails. Imagine setting a signal that switches the pathways between multiple areas so you don't have to make multiple track likes between areas. 🥰
Dang, a Pulse Extender made into a block would be HUGE. Look, if I want a pulse to last longer, it's not hard to do with what we have. But we could detect block updates without it and we got the Observer anyway (along with many, many new functionalities). I would love a Pulse Extender block.
As for other suggestions? Blackstone button having a different function, I would love a "button but actually works like a lever". Face it, levers don't fit into every build's aesthetic as much as buttons, they're mostly steampunk-ish or medieval-ish thing, while buttons are more modern. If I build a piston door, I always wire it to a button connected to a T-flipflop so it actually works like a lever instead, just because it looks so much more modern that way. I do this for light fixtures as well. Sure, modern light switches are either a tiny lever or a crooked button, but Minecraft levers are too huge for this aesthetic.
as for why redstone pops off from a sideways-facing piston, it's actually quite simple and also stupid. You see, when you activate a piston, it changes the size of its hitbox for the base. So the redstone doesn't have enough of a block below it (or maybe it simply doesn't count as a full block maybe that's why) because the redstone's hitbox is bigger than the graphic suggests. I think MumboJumbo at some point wanted Mojang to make the redstone hitbox thinner so it can stay on top of pistons.
One more feature that might help make redstone more compact would be compact logic gates. Like the redstone repeater and the comparator, they would take up 1 block in surface area and they would be compact versions of the redstone components
But that would completely ruin the point of redstone
Haha Roxanne Go weeeeeee

Autocrafter is a litle bit OP but "the Auto Block Maker" which only can convert resources to it's own block would be so usefull and not so OP. It can work like a composter, if you put 9 of the items it gives you block of it.
About the "autocrafter" that thing is already exsist on bedrock, you just need right and enough resources and available items will show on the left table, just choose
For vertical signals, I just use observers and a block that reacts to it like redstone lamps or bells. It's delayed but it works.

My idea for an auto-crafter:
A new block that has a similar screen to a crafting table, but if you click a recipe it chooses that as the one you want to automate and the order that the items go in doesn’t matter once you select a recipe and to get new recipes you need to have already crafted it manually at least once in the auto-crafter and when you place it it faces towards you like a chest or furnace does

There are so many things in Java which arnt in bedrock and it just annoys me that people on Java don’t appreciate the features they do have!
I have the opposite problem. Java kids in comment section keep flaming bedrock edition for not having Quasi connectivity and it being “inconsistent” which is false, there is an input bug where the first redstone tick of delay is ignored from an input. Contraptions work the same way every time, or works sometimes when it shouldn’t work ever if it was on Java. There are a few other false claims I hear a lot, even from new bedrock users.

7:05 What does he mean by this? I dont quite understand
I remember some old block from an old version of mobile minecraft (pocket edition) , it looked like a crafting table, but it had a gear and hammer on it, and I thought why not return it in the form of a assembling machine (an automatic crafting tablr if its easier). Redraw the textures a little, script it, and that's it! and done! (to be honest, I dont know how difficult it is to make blocks like this one I described, especially in java, but at least it sounds interesting, specially for people who are good redstone engineers and love automation)
Honestly what I’ve found I’ve been in need of to complete both farms I’ve been building or just sometning I’ve been working on in general is a block that can take a redstone pulse sideways and emmit it though. Like say a pressure plate on one side of a block that when stepped on emits a pulse to activate the red stone next to it.
Also a vacuum block that can suck up items, there are awkward times you get drops but they go sideways and not down so hoppers aren’t all that useful anymore

I'm going to spoil this man's whole career 🤣🤣😂
the create mod explains perfectly what minecraft would look like in a mechanical update
I think if movable tile entities were added to java they’d probably remove tnt duping. Seen as you’d be able to make mining contraptions but with chests on instead of duper’s.
5:35 you can make a redstone clock with 2 observers already, it's not as custom, but 2x3 for custom speed is not quite bad (i thinnk)
Love this! I wish all of these were in the game... imagine what Mumbo could do. Before 1k gang!
1:04 Let bedrock have its perks!!! You have enough features we don’t!!! You have a mod for it, we can’t use mods. Enjoy your mods and annoying features we can’t have.
It makes me so mad when Java players complain about not having what bedrock has. Java has mods and other features bedrock does not. Let us enjoy our better speed bridging, piston movable chests, and big salmon. You can enjoy modding them in.
O
Y'all would make great game devs...
Skip: Complains about immovable chests in Java
Me: We don't have chunk borders, crappy redstone, limited commands and needing a shovel for a boat
Man, sculk scensors are gonna be fun to play with
