Apparently a new Infinite update drops in 1-2 weeks. We’ll see what’s in it.
I'm gonna guess a whole lot of nothing. Infinite was a fun for a couple of weeks when the Mark IV core dropped, but since then I haven't touched it. Good videos as always, Mint!
@@jefferymosdell2490 Don't be so pessimistic I'm sure there will be multiple 20$ cosmetic bundles.
If Microsoft is proud enough to publish a paper bragging about their SBMM, then the only way to counter that is to work with other Halo players on UA-cam to conduct your own methodical research, independently and together, and sharing the findings with the community. You could probably even hire a data analyst to find the best methods and the patterns in the results to solidify the point further.
You can lead a horse to water but can’t make it drink. Play a different game Mint.
@MintBlitz great video I mainly play PvE so it really doesn't effect me but I understand, why your upset it's not fair to anyone who plays PvP.
I know Xbox is where the main population for Infinite is, but on steam it currently says there is only 2,162 players in-game. 2k on a sunday afternoon. I have so many good memories of playing Halo with my friends growing up, and seeing Halo struggle this much really hurts.
You mean you had great times playing it on Xbox. Who cares about the PC community?
Well tell them to play. This game is absolutely incredible now. So many maps and modes now and the gameplay is 10/10
Overall at peak there’s around 4K steam players, with a 40K peak overall that would mean only 10% of players are on PC.
I agree though, a bigger pc crowd would’ve helped but 343 took too long to fix MnK issues.
Things are trending lower, but I think there are typically lower player counts for Infinite on holiday weekends like Memorial Day when people are traveling or out with their family/friends
@@danjjjatestpeople like you say that til you can’t experience the mods that we can experience on PC. I’ve played halo on Xbox for over a decade but now PC is where it’s at for halo
Dude, I'm just going to say it. Modern SBMM Is a product of corporate greed trying to get as much time out of the players in their game as possible. Literally. That's it.
OG Halo games. Battlefield. Titanfall 2. And now XDefiant. All games that have little to no skill based matchmaking, and what is there is very loose.
And guess what? They're actually FUN. They don't feel like a second job to play. You can search with friends, give yourself dumb challenges, and experiment with loadouts
you wouldn't normally use because they're not meta. This is how good games feel to play. I just wish 343/Microsoft could still see that. The rest of developers too.
what "dumb challenges" do you "give yourself" of sage of FPS. maybe the problem is all you try hards whining that you cant win every game.
I genuinely do not understand how AAA shooter developers can be so so so so dumb. 343 and Microsoft have known what we want for 2 years and refuse to do it. It’s mind-boggling.
@@Bramon83 you think anyone on that last game Mint Blitz showed had fun? His teammates were chosen as sacrificial lambs that were slaughtered the whole game and for Mint Blitz it was unwinnable game. We do not want to win every game. We want fair matches and teammates that can keep up. We don't want the algorithm to force a win or loss!
Considering the population of Halo infinite, I don't think they are doing very good job at getting as much as time from their players.
Sbmm has actually had the exact opposite effect, it and any form of progression being locked behind a paywall have been the main reason I have abandoned Infinite.
I moved completely to PVE and Custom Games because of SBMM.
Even BTB Heavies isn't fun anymore.
I can’t take having to play MLG levels with the tactical savvy-ness of Grand Admiral Thrawn anymore either.
That's really unfortunate. I use to LOVE BTB and was going to try to get back into it in Infinite.
Only autistic nerds who have no social skills and cant deal with getting spanked by other people and tbagged play PVE.
What makes halo great is the PVP multiplayer. Tbagging other real people in multiplayer matches, etc.
Call it as it is. EOMM. There is no skill factored into the matchmaking.
I tried x defiant and it feels the exact same SBMM isn’t even a issue people just love jumping on the bandwagon
My internet is so bad that I can't even watch the video, someone explain what 343 did this time.
New Zombies playlist might change team balancing in PvP modes.
@@MintBlitz💀
@@MintBlitz based mint just explaining it
Network manipulation to hold their 50/50 true
Halo Infinite is the first Halo game where I havent been able to play with my brother for more than a week. Knowing that our efforts is directed by an AI and not by the skill of the team is keeping us from being interested.
Their matchmaking system is literally what finally killed the game for me. Been uninstalled for some time now. I don't care about winning or losing. But I do care about their system messing with my matches and giving me a full team of .5 k/d teammates for hours on end. Like, just get out of our way and let us enjoy the game. Stop trying to manipulate the win/loss ratios. I've moved on. Not even angry or upset anymore. I just don't care. 20+ years of playing Halo. 343 managed to just make me not care anymore.
I’m just tired of mint going “ praise 343 “ then the next day “ screw 343 “ it’s all Microsoft doing things . Hopefully halo 7 continues halo infinite
This repeating behavior is the result of Microsoft gaslighting us.
They have done too much negative stuff. Even if they add positive stuff, it won't be enough for me anymore. They dropped the ball with the Halo 5/Infinite campaign and the majority of stuff they did afterwards. I just hope they focus on adding small things again in MCC, instead of the dying Infinite game.
The mindless 343 praising is why I DROPPED Halo Follower and HiddenXperia. Becuase 343 continuesly screws up and everybody just pretends it's OK.
@@JIGgameoverSAW Same, I just want MCC fixed and finished.
@@wheezer5038 Yep, that's called toxic positivity and it's what killed Infinite. Notice how from a game design standpoint Halos 4 and 5 were both well built games but are constantly hated on by the community but from a game design stand point Halo Infinite can't even be called a video game more like a storefront with themed mini-games loosely based around it and poorly made ones at that and the community eats it up?
Goes to show how fucked the standards of the Halo community has become.
that's EXACTLY what happened to me omg. losing the game 8 times in a row and then having the next match be extremely easy just to loop back into unwinnable matches
The fountain of disappointment never runs dry
Never runs dry... Well at least in that sense we arent being disappointed👍🏼
That's deep.
You could say it was...infinite
@@STRING3R The entire internet groans !!! LOL
Man I miss the days when me and my brother would sit and play halo 3/reach split screen such a great era
ya i love devoting half my screen and hardware to carry someone that cant go positive k/d... when we were kids wed say.... man. i sure hope gaming never evolves and we can shoot ourselves in the foot with one hand tied behind our back against a team with no guest accounts/ full use of their screen and hardware. ya that was the best of times........
TF wrong with you idiots
It blows my mind that the reason they force this crap is because some analytic somewhere said that 50/50 win rate yields the highest player retention. But with sooooo many people quitting the game exclusively because of this system, I can’t understand why they *STILL* think it’s working and refuse to admit they were either wrong or grossly effed up their implementation of manipulated matches.
You know, they had the whole system a whole lot better back in 2007. They’ve had the blueprints to improve upon. Games were social and fun back then.
17 years ago did it better...
17 years ago it was a smaller, way less complex system to program for. Not excusing it but it's not a fair comparison.
@@UnhandyCandy280 Halo 3 peak player count was 270k. Halo infinite's peak was around 271k. Try again
@@thekotabear3262 Halo 3 peak player count was over 1 million... I can't see that ever happening again tbh there's way more games out now to disperse the gaming population.
@@MuddledMinx That would be overall players. Not concurrent
I grew up play pvp shooters. Due to modern SBMM I have abandoned ALL of my favorite games. 😢
I'm the same way but it has brought some free time to enjoy lots of single player games. They can be challenging or relaxing whatever you choose
Not surprised in the slightest, 343 feels like it's being run by 2 people part time
Always has, always will
So that's why my teammates always feel like a hit or miss. Sometimes they seem like they just started playing today and sometimes we're just decimating the enemy team so much that you know they have no chance of catching up
My teammates have gotten noticably worse lately even before they added that zombies mode. It sometimes feels like I'm playing with bots that just dont have the 343 tag.
Bro, I'm convinced that Mint Blitz can read my mind
I only play PVE now, if I play PVP again, I think I'm going to be in trouble lol.
Same, I'm what you'd call an average player so... slaughter ensues.
This
Is
Why
I
Play
Firefight
80% of the time.
Only play others for variety.
One thing I noticed is that the game seems to be preferences to specific maps, I hardly ever get illusion or guardian remake (my favorite maps in the game), it's really weird
The magic of 343, anybody is surprised?
i get the same crap it’s ridiculous i’ll get 35+ kills in a fiesta game and it’s not enough for my team to win ! i meant to send some screenshots some games i have over 40 kills like what else do we need to do
considering its an objective map.... idk..... go for the gd objective and quit playing it like its slayer. you def have never gone 40+ in a slayer game oh im sorry 35+ and lost. either quit lying or quit being bad at life. thats what you need to do.
@@Bramon83 my brother fiesta goes to 50 slays 💀
@@Bramon83 literally search any of my recent games and u will see 😭
@@Bramon83Like stated Fiesta only goes to 50 kills, I’ve had games where I’ve gotten 31-32 kills and either barely won or actually lost because my team has gone a combined 9-41 or something ridiculous. I think I’ve played against Mint once and ended up winning and had a good game. But his team was dogwater and felt bad because the next game it happened to me. I think maybe like 5 out 100 matches in fiesta did I have some close, competitive matches where it’s within 2-7 kills with just about everyone helping
I wish the sbmm in ranked was better, in my experience the W/L ratio is no where near 50%. It consistently gives me sub par teammates while the enemy team are the most coordinated random players you'll ever see, and to make matters worse because my stats are consistently decent (unless I get my ass absolutely shredded) in order to get any meaningful rank progress I have to perform like a demon. For example going 47-23 with 20 assists just for the game to say "ah yes, that's worth 10 CSR instead of your usual 9" and it's really not fair to anyone when it puts these people into my game that go 5-20. Like that player isn't having a good time and the game should be able to look at their previous stats and say "yeah I shouldn't put them in this lobby." "..But I'm going to anyway"
1:30 this whole sequence of events is insane
Ohhh god I was carelessly going crazy with the pack punch guns and powerups I bet I wouldn't even stand a chance on the pvp modes now
If there's any pushback in 343 Microsoft can sadly fire them and then replace them
When the hell are companies gonna realize that NOBODY likes sbmm so just get rid of it already. Or at the very least implement something like the H3 sbmm, that was perfect.
The ranked/social mix and matchmaking rank issues have already been figured out in a way that it encouraged player retention. Why Microsoft and 343 have insisted on putting their own spin on it or "improving" it since the days of Halo 3 and Reach are absolutely beyond me.
Halo inf was doom from the start.
It's the inability to play with my friends anymore that really sucks the most about this. None of my friends want to play fps games with me either because of how miserably sweaty the lobbies tend to be.
I noticed this very same thing, but I didnt think it was because of the amount of firefight I've done LOL
I really hate that the firefight modes are apart of regular multiplayer rather than being considered it’s own separate thing
Of all the things I'm so perplexed why the sbmm is so staunchly stood behind by the devs even when their population is record low
one thing i'll never understand is why me, being an hour outside of seattle, will consistently get texas or new york servers where i not only have to fight the sbmm, i also have to fight people with better connections
Posted about this yesterday on X - had to go 36-9 to win by only 2 points in Slayer bc my teammates were going 2-19 nsht; it's nuts how broken this damn MM system is
It's like you're playing with bots some games and they're making it their job to feed the enemy team - you gotta outkill their death sprees
Makes things exhausting after a while, ESPECIALLY since you can't actually talk with your teammates to help them improve, or at least get them to follow you and stick with you so they don't keep getting killed
They HAVE to fix this for the next game
I think I am in the target demographic for the SBMM cause I have quick search times for Husky Raid. Also my matches are close, intense and engaging. Sometimes I carry and sometimes i get carried so there's variety.
I think I'm average at the game so the SBMM caters to ppl like me. But I can understand it's frustrating for players at both extremes.
I’m in the same boat, sometimes I go crazy and win, other times I do bad but get carried. When I lose it is always close, but it’s not fun always having such close games
What you're suggesting is that it's not even really SBMM. If you're getting teamed up with guys across the entire spectrum.
Is this a thing in firefight too? Sometimes i get games where everyone knows what they're doing but i swear it feels like most times at least half the team i get are newbies.
It always comes down to how good your connection is. Haveing a really high upload speed is gonna get you wins if your patient.
Mint blitz I hope you take this personally...
In a good way.
That your content discussing the inner working of halos matchmaking system.
Is like the inde 500 of gaming.
Telling the development team the results of what they are separately working on together.
Making everyone aware of the results in shorter fashion comparing to what could be done internally at the company and it's backer Microsoft can do.
Basically every time you release a video.
The whole development team runs laps on what they initially implemented.
Heart goes out to the developers who do take our criticism and feedback to heart and ultimately find a way to better themselves with. Regardless of whether or not it is difficult to better ones self with what has been given from us as a community.
That's a genuinely nice comment !
This is why I stopped playing back in Febuary. I would end the match with a 3:1 kill ration or higher, and still lose 8/10 matches. If I only have 30 minutes to an hour of time to play, I will only experience losing matches.
I don’t have evidence to back this up, but I suspect that the new zombies playlist is also affected with the SBMM. I’ve noticed since Friday that the teammates I’ve been getting have either been REALLY bad, or straight up griefers. I already can’t find games in my region again and I suspect it’s for the same reason I can’t find games in other modes; the SBMM.
I just don't understand why skill based matchmaking needs to be in social game types. Ranked, sure that makes sense. But I just want to sit down and unwind with a video game with my friends every once in a while. In the old days you'd have a mix of games, some really good wins, some embarrassing losses, it was all fun. Now, every single match is a fight for my life full of sweat. I hate it so much I can never play more than 3 or 4 matches before I'm exhausted.
I had a rooooough stretch of PVP games after dabbling in the zombies mode for a few hours last week when I was off. Now ik why I guess
Yo mint can ya give me advise on Aim with sniper it seems you dont miss (no pun intended) just a little tip to help me climb
yknow. this is becoming like a villain of the week thing. now its just "what did 343 fuck up today?"
One time i lost 25 matches in a row and most of them were fiesta or slayer and I had over 20 sometimes 30 kills in every single match, this system is really awful. I mean I know I’m not amazing at the game like mint blitz but I know I’m not so bad to lose over twenty matches in a row. My teammates most of the time acted like bots or were bots and the opposite team had a bunch of guys playing like me every single time. I’m not going to play halo infinite for a while I need a break from this awful system.
Lmao a sample size of 7 games. The air chair devolving is real.
Yet when someone says 343i studio is incompetent everyone always says "Nooo it's all the bogeyman's fault! Big bad Microsoft!"
It is Microsoft, but Infinite's problems also stem from the old 343 management, sometimes someone else's mess is just too fucked up to clean up, that is the problem, the new leadership and microsoft thought Infinite was salvagable in any way, shape or form.
The SBMM is so bad that I have lowered my standard from winning a game to just getting a good KD ratio and I have not won a single game in days despite doing well
Started using my second gamertag to get to Hero again. Most of the matches have been loses even I'm top scoring carrying the team constantly. My search takes a while because the game want me to match me against onyx/hero's players.
I started the second GT because I wanted to know how it would feel grinding the battlepass backwards and seeing what options there are for new comers
As someone who has not played the zombies mode, I have noticed my matches being much MUCH easier this week. Might be bcuz everyone else's balancing is messed up
Just wanna add I also lost 7-10 matches straight after dominating zombies as a warm up game. Guess I warmed up too much lol
Day 1 of asking mintblitz to showcase some of the MCC communities' epic stuff for once
classic 343
1:29 that was filthy....!
Damn Mint gg, that was a great game 💯🔥
I'm not going to pretend that 343i is on top form but folks online react like it's the end of civilisation as we know it. I'm 52 and have been playing games since the mid 80s. Releasing unfinished games has been happening more since the mid 90s because patches can be released.
Infinite has had a shocking turn of events (Only some of it out of their control). Their previous software houses in Russia became unavailable (we all know why), There was a rogue employee that seemed to mess things up in a big way during lockdown, MS wanted the game out (MS not listening shocker !!!), having to stop to catch up (season 2 might still be going on if not for Mr Staton), Big upper management changes, spending time and resources to find the de-sync issues, having to then re-write the coding for multi-player (very time consuming and I'd bet still being tweaked), Some really odd interpretations of Live-service shop (like selling the same colours for each armour and ridiculous pricing for items)... I'm still playing and enjoying it.
Microsoft just needs to go out of business
This the only halo I don't play much ranked. In other halos I played ranked as much as I did social
This explains why I've had a streak of good luck in BTB.
I just had 2 matches where no one other than me had anything above 10. I had 20+ both matches. The highest next to me? 8, and that was the first match. The second was 6. It's insane, I don't want teammates who are unhelpful.
I personally haven't been playing pretty much anything with skill based match making and have been playing Titanfall 2, primarily because of my Internet currently but even then im having more fun and thats whats really important
You should sue them for discrimination. That'll make em change it
A matchmaking system that pushes a player as good as Mint to a 15% win rate isn’t just broken it’s straight up corrupt
I've been an almost exclusive PVE player since Firefight released. I only play PVP for chellenges.
Good to no I should continue avoiding PVP like the plague.
I just check out on the games that feel like scheduled losses at this point. Just turn the controller over and let my spartan spin in circles til time runs out.
I miss the day spartan use to fight aliens instead of fighting each other for fame and rewards.
I felt the skill based matchmaking on ranked snipers. I remember having 6 games in a row with terrible teammates while the opposing team were made up of the best. it was a fight to get Diamond. Hell, I had to hard carry my teammates the last stretch with every single one hitting either a 1.0 or 0.50 K/D.
The problem with a person like Mint Blitz here (I don't know if I should leave this comment), because he is naturally such a good player at FPS games (and in my opinion very much a try hard), so the matching he is put in is statistically going to be on the high side all the time, but the system does not want him winning in every single match because then his account looks like he is a hacker winning so many games and very few losses. Also, I think the other reason why the system matches him up with lower skilled players on your team, is the system is matching players with a higher skilled player like Mint Blitz to have them win games every other time because Mint Blitz is carrying the teams since he is a very good player (and an outlier on the graph). Otherwise if the lower skilled players were constantly being played with lower ranked players all the time and Mint Blitz were placed with higher skilled players all the time, the lower skilled players would just leave very quickly, while people like Mint Blitz will still be around and just dominating every single game and winning every game (and then get bored because it has become too easy for you if this happened), thereby ruining the retention that companies want to have for players and then the population starts to decrease because the lower skilled players get frustrated with the matchmaking. At least this is how I am seeing it.
At this point I’m not surprised, or even bothered. I don’t think my matchmaking teams can get any worse. Teammates lick walls and sometimes I have to 1v4. It ruins the fun for both ends of the spectrum, top and bottom players.
This is so spot on but the only difference for me is I have to queue with someone or else the game won't find me a match. I live in the states but I can only search for matches from 3pm to 3am and outside of that time frame I won't get anything unless I have someone else in my lobby
Even card games like Magic The Gathering Arena have SBMM sadly LOL. The dev Wizards of the Coast created an algorithm in the game that basically forces people to stay in Plat so they'll keep playing the game unless you're one of the lucky few who ae able to get to Diamond/Mythic. Basically let's say you keep winning with a Mid range deck they'll then match you against 10 straight control deck games which will absolutely roll you up and smoke you.
SBMM is the soul reason why nowadays, I just play Custom Games and that's it, no actual matchmaking
Counting W/L and K/D stats in infection just should never be a thing.
If you're a zombie you're kinda expected to die a lot and only way to win is by surviving as spartan.
Pair that with a matchmaking system that takes stats into account...
I miss before the days of everyone trying to make the next competitive esport when you could find more casual games to just play after work or school for a bit of fun. Playing Assault on High Ground, and then when it was clear one team was gonna win handily everyone would just start goofing off, driving each other around on Mongooses. Wild times.
i was caught off guard when you said your win rate was 40-50% and then I saw how you were outperforming your team
This is why I've never bothered playing ranked. I play a LOT of husky raid and firefight, and a bit of other social modes. I just know that if I go to ranked it could place me way higher than I deserve so I'll get demolished and let my team down.
I used to play ranked all the time so whenever I wanted to play casual it was always sweaty so I no longer play ranked….
I love halo infinite combat but do to matchmaking I’m starting to play less and might even just stop I do hope they make it better
honestly this explains why i have actually had balanced match's in multiplayer recently from playing the zombie AI as my last 4 games i was not curb stomped into the ground they where balanced games where either side could win
This is why I stick to firefight tbh
*Bring back Warzone firefight your boy needs to grind 1st place streaks again*
Will there be more xdefiant vids? One topic I feel like people are not talking about is how broken the rifleman weapon load out is. 2 upper chest shots kill everyone, including the 120 health guys. Headshots aren't even necessary. It's so broken
All I play now is Husky Raid because when the sbmm decides to make me lose its at least a real quick game.
SBMM was always pushed by devs as a way to drive player engagement because I guess their analytics told them that a 50/50 W/L ratio was a way to engender the "just one more game" mindset. But either something broke along the way, or this is just an outright lie by the analytics team, because players are fed up with it and quitting FPS games in droves.
I’m tired of having to sweat to almost win with 40 kills while my teams only getting like 10
I didn't realize until now that the matchmaking system was causing the long wait times. I love the gameplay style, but can't bear the wait for a game, which can seem as long as the game itself. I don't care how often I lose against better players; I just want a totally randomized lobby of players.
I still miss the days of dedicated servers back on Halo Custom Edition, Allowed for all sorts.
I only experience this to a limited extent as I am a mediocre player at best so my matches are all equally difficult with the occasional one sided beating
I feel sorry for ALLGOLD getting thrown into your match as a sacrificial lamb. That player must have had a terrible time.
I was playing btb slayer and 2 dudes on our team contributed over 30 points to other team with ZERO kills
This style of PVP balancing is a very common trait of most MOBAS. There’s usually a visible MMR (match making rating) and an invisible MMR that used to match you up with other of similar skill level. Team balancing then uses the average MMR of the entire team to make a “balanced team.” The problem with this is you might have four people in low ranks paired with one person in high ranks, faced against five people that are ranked in the middle. You can’t solo carry most of the time and you will lose
My games have been all over the place. I mainly play firefight, Fiesta and Tactical Slayer. I’m pretty sweaty but there are times I get paired with some absolute beasts and then the next game I’m teamed with absolute bots. The games are beyond unfair and it goes both ways.
Thankfully you are Mint Blitz, your gamertag is your win rate
Honestly SBMM ruined everything especially in cod ! I play multiplayer games to feel like I’m playing with other players not bots smh ! I enjoyed gaming much more even while getting curbed stomped some games, I’m not the best player in the world I shouldn’t be the best every freaking game
Modern SBMM is why I quit playing multiplayer games and switched to story based games. I loved grinding ranked in Halo 3 but the loose SBMM in social playlists made the game so much more fun when I just wanted to chill. No Halo Infinite, I really don't want every match to be a sweat fest...
Off topic but the clip at 1:30 was hard as fuck
Ugh I totally understand this and it’s ridiculous! Just yesterday the first 3 matches I played after not playing for 4 days, I was completely demolished. I don’t think I lived for 15 seconds after each respond! Then the following match we won 50-32.
I had 32 and 7 🤣. I think I’m a pretty good average player, but dang! I know I’m not that good. The highest for the other team was 15 and 14.
Thanks, skill based matchmaking? 🙄
Now I’ll have to sweat for the following matches.
I used to play Halo Semi-professionally and I quit because of this. The game stopped being fun to be good at. Even hitting multikills like this I just felt bad for my opponents due to the MM. I'm not a bully, and that is why I have quit Halo Infinite as a whole for the last few months.
I also don't thinik Remy is a bully. He has a tough job bringing honest Halo news. He has a tough position as a creator.
i never have a problem with finding games. takes like 20 seconds at most. skill based matchmaking doesnt affect me and my friends either since we more likely than not top the leaderboard
