    “The golden watch isn’t central to the plot.”
    Golden Watch: Literally involves the death of a major character, sets up another character quitting, and shows what Marcellus Wallace is like and how he operates.

    • @onnixcarmichele3911
      @onnixcarmichele3911 4 роки тому +7

      I mean, realistically speaking, there were other hypothetical storylines through which those things could have been accomplished. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that Golden Watch isn’t fundamental to the film, but I do think that they could have done a bit more pre-exposition on Bruce Willis’ character. Everything logically makes sense, but (speaking personally) I didn’t really know how to feel about that character until him and Marsellus were locked up together.

    • @Xannyphantom905
      @Xannyphantom905 4 роки тому +2

      how did it set up Jules quitting? and how does it show how Marcellus operates?

    • @cleothehermetichermeticist8391
      @cleothehermetichermeticist8391 4 роки тому +12

      Smith I guess setting up him quitting is a bad choice of words, moreso it was an early indicator of it. Jules not being there to protect Vincent in the apartment, not being on the mission, and not being around at all during that segment is an early show that Jules is gone and serves to foreshadow that to a degree.
      And when I said how Marcellus operates I meant how he acts and behaves, everytime he’s seen in other sections he’s more calm and collected but The Golden Watch lets us see more of him. Lets us see how dedicated he is in chasing down Butch even after getting hit by a goddamn car. And also how nobody fucks Marcellus Wallace except Mrs Wallace, which was just a funny line considering what happens.

      1.how did the “Vincent taking Mia out for dinner” story, intersect with, or effect/have any impact on the other two stories?

    Let's not even mention how saying "I don't watch TV" isn't the same as "I've never had, not ever will have, contact with a television"
    Jules even talks about that when he asks "But you ARE aware that there's an invention called the television, and that in the television they show shows, right?" To which Vincent replies:
    "Yes"
    It's not that hard.

      @griffith did nothing wrong The moment you called me "kiddo" was the moment you forfeited the right to get a straight answer out of me.
      But still, moving past that, I sense you wished to engage in an unfruitful discussion where you call me wrong for making an offhand joke about the very real attempts at masking the horrors of slavery based on my nationality, ethnicity, or possibly the state in the US that I live (were that the case). This would lead to one or more of four possible outcomes: You'd dismiss my opinion based on me not being from the US, dismiss it because slavery was a thing "everybody did" (at this point making a specific reference to my ancestors also being guilty, if applicable), or tell me that I can't judge Tennessee specifically because I'm either a Northerner, or because my state also had slaves.
      There, I shortened this whole "discussion" and saved us both a lot of time. You're welcome. Good day to you, unidentified glob on the Internet.

    Also in regards to the sin of Mia not recognising the heroin, the main reason for the confusion is heroin is normally packaged in a balloon, coke comes packaged in a baggy, when Vincent buys the heroin the seller explains he's ran out of balloons and offers the baggy. That being said the rest ties in with your explanation for the difference between coke and heroin especially given Mia has never met Vincent before she would easily assume he's a coke addict and not investigate further.

    So here's my theory:
    Marvin was actually going to betray Jules and Vincent. Vincent probably would've checked the other room but was assured by Marvin beforehand that there was no one else, hence why they were so mad at Marvin right after. Also, look at Marvin's reaction when the shooting starts - less shock and more disappointment methinks.
    Then the car: Jules and Vincent probably suspected Marvin of double-cross after the close call back at the apartment - or at least Vincent did because Jules was too busy having his epiphany. Therefore it would make sense for Vincent to want to keep the gun trained on Marvin. Heck, just the fact that he's a hitman means he probably doesn't trust a lot of people to begin with.
    The gun going off, IMHO, is a confirmation of Jules' epiphany i.e. God was protecting him. If Marvin was treacherous it stands to reason he might've had something else planned later on to 'off' both Jules and Vincent. This last one might be reaching a bit but I think it fits the irony/ambiguity surrounding Jules' revelation.
    What do you guys think?

      Lee, you're probably not aware of a couple things here, but allow me to explain: Pulp Fiction is one of my favorite films of all time. In fact, it's definitely in my top 10 of all time, and hovers around my top 5 of all time. I have seen this movie so many times, I can literally quote it, word for word in a lot of the scenes. In fact, a lot of the quotes make it into my videos: ua-cam.com/video/WwxSOm3ZhgE/v-deo.html
      That said, I always, ALWAYS rewatch the film when making these videos. I've heard the theory about the trophy, and I've personally done a deep dive on it, as theories are something we enjoy on this channel. The fact is, that never happens in this movie. Tarantino has confirmed it's false, and you can literally go on Netflix right now and confirm it for yourself. There isn't a radio announcement of Mia stealing the trophy. It was an urban myth that has spread. It's confirmed false.

Apparently a 20 year career in law enforcement does things to your sense of humor 🤷‍♀️ it was much funnier this time. Especially the scene with Marvin. Poor Marvin.

    • @Th3Birdman
      @Th3Birdman  5 років тому +14

      Right? Marvin seemed like he escaped a perilous situation, only to meet his end due to a pot hole lmaooooooo
      Tarantino has a wicked sense of humor.

      Salvador Garcia that’s really a big difference. He is saying that every bit of dialogue from the movie isn’t perfect and some parts have flaws but some parts are still fun to quote. You can say that about any movie really. That’s entirely different from what you said.

    About Butch waking up sweaty, you do not sweat only due to fear of a nightmare, but due any intense emotional arousal. I have always assumed that showing us Butch sweaty is an indication that, as much as the watch story we have just heard is ridiculous, it is dead serious to Butch so that it torments his sleep. It is a small detail but useful to show us he would do anything to get the watch back

    • @aaronsmith2688
      @aaronsmith2688 4 роки тому

      I honestly don't even like blueberries, but really. Them having a conversation about things that ultimately do not matter that much in the end, is not a sin. This describes most or at least a lot of conversations. This is how people connect and get to know each other most of the time, I think. Every conversation in a movie does not have to advance plot, in fact I feel like if it did he would sin most conversations simply because they were used as a device for exposition. Also, is it bad if I have seen this video like ten times and I just noticed that he gave 30 sins for the pancakes?

    You forgot how Jeremy sins Honey Bunny saying something different in the second sequence of the beginning of the robbery, and how he doesn’t buy the idea of it being how Jules remembers it. The point of the change isn’t to show the shift in Jules’s perspective (since we see it first from a more objective angle, and then later in a subjective angle from Bumpkin and Honey Bunny’s perspective), it’s to show how the way you frame/change what’s basically the same line of dialogue’s word king and delivery changes the shift of the scene. At the start, the line, “...and I’ll execute every mother fucking last one of you!” works as better as a tense introduction into the Tarantino’s violent, energetic world because its delivery and wording works as a shift into the Misirlou credit sequence. Later, the change of it into “...and I’ll execute every one of you mother fuckers!” works as a lead-in for a different kind of perspective, as the delivery and change in wording works as more of a lead-in from a somber, reflective scene of Jules thinking about what he plans on doing into a more chaotic, yet also funny, robbery scene.

      Yeah, Butch planned to bet on himself with the money Marsellus fronted to him. It was a hell of a scheme and he'd have gotten away cleanly if Fabienne didn't forget the watch. On the other hand, Marsellus would have always been searching for him, so in a way, Fabienne saved his life by forgetting the watch.
