- This video provides an incredible close-up on a beaver that is chewing on a branch. I managed to crawl up very very slowly until I was only a couple of feet from the beaver and then I held my camera in front of me so that the lens was probably only about 18 inches from the beaver’s nose. In addition, the camera was right down at eye-level to the beaver so this video gives a rare up close look. You should also turn up the volume to hear the wonderful chewing noises.

It’s not just the videos. The audio of the beavers, birds etc. are wonderfully calm and calming. Thank you. (p.s. Go Oilers!)
Cool close-up video of one of nature's great 'gnawers'. Thanks.

Damn good looking look at that creative mind going to town at home lol
Are their eyes brighter in spring, do you think? And is that because of the fresh new tastey bark, and I wonder if spring tree shoot beaver chow and leafy stuff they eat, if they are more excited for the spring chow? If they were hibernating all winter, and are out chowing down in spring all happy and raring to go, and the spring growth is all "fresh" and tastey to them, compare to late season tree chow which gets duller to them? Who knows, but you might know, you are likely one of the world's experts on beaver habits and psychology, honestly.
I refer to you, like I mentioned, every week, to tourists here in our park where the beaver trash floats and settles along the shore line here, making some really good walking sticks.
Great sound, and now that I know beavers love their bark, I'm really happy for them. Those nicely de-barked leftover sticks with the beaver teeth marks naturally make excellent walking sticks.
Beavers don't hibernate, but you're right that they rely mainly on cambium from stored branches during winter and only get the leaves in spring. I'm no expert, but they get more nutrition from the leaves and I am sure they enjoy it more!
They definitely seem to take great enjoyment about the abundance of greenery to choose from. As another comment mentioned, they don’t hibernate, although when they are under the ice for months at a time, their died is limited to what they can eat off of branches in their winter food cache.. I haven’t noticed any difference in their eyes. Anytime something like that is different I attribute it to the lighting in the video.
