- Hi everyone! This is episode fourteen and the series finale of my Baltics plus Finland series in which I travel to Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia in Finland. In this video, I do a silent walk in Helsinki, the capital of Finland.
As this is a silent walking tour, you get to experience the sights and sounds of the city during the Christmas period in your own way. The vlog starts with me taking in the Christmas markets at Senate Square next to the Helsinki Cathedral. After this, we hit the city by walking down Aleksanterinkatu or Alexandersgatan, as well as Mannerheimintie and other streets.
We will stumble across some interesting window displays, beautiful Christmas decorations and other delights. The vlog ends with me taking in the beauty of the Uspenski Cathedral at night.
Unfortunately I had to briefly snip the vlog in various parts, either due to music being played or because of snow or rain making my lens dirty! Hope this isn't too inconvenient :)
I hope you enjoy this silent walking tour in Helsinki! I also thoroughly hope that you enjoyed this series in the Baltics and Finland. If you haven't done it yet, please LIKE the video and SUBSCRIBE to the channel - it is completely free to do so, and it really helps me out in promoting my videos on the platform and I need all the help I can get. I do all the editing, production and marketing myself, so please help me out by liking and subscribing! I also love to hear from you, so please leave a COMMENT for me in the comments section. Let me know what you think of Helsinki at night and during the festive season.
Date of filming: 16 December 2023
Happy exploring!
Willie
Helsinki is very beautiful city in the summer, too! It's very green and the location by the sea looks amazing.
Absolutely! But a winter trip there is also magical :)
Beautiful scenes, Willie Explore - one of your best yet IMHO. Keep doing what you're doing!
Cheers Jasper, appreciate the support!
What an amazing sight from the top of the stairs, so much cheer and happiness all around. The lights and decorations are so beautiful. That walk thru was superb. Thank you for all the blogs of this area of the world, Willie. KIwi from Virginia
You are most welcome, Swanoaks, as always! Delighted to have you travel with me virtually to these places. It was a really great trip for me, I have to say. Stay warm in Virginia!

Brilliant video Willie thanks for showing interest place!
Thank you Simon! Always a pleasure mon ami :)

Lovely Christmas in Helsinki, but where was Santa.Claus? He was present anywhere.
As regards Christmas lighting,I much prefer the Talinn
displays😅
Cheers John, that is a classic joke about Santa :) Have you watched my Riga video(s)? I prefer Tallinn over Riga as a city, but I think I prefer the Riga Christmas market...with emphasis on think! Cheers for watching
Nice walk :)
Thank you very much!
@@willieexplore I must confess that I haven't visited that Helsinki Christmas market for years even I live about a half hour drive away :)
@@oh2mp and I haven't been on top of Table Mountain ever since I was a kid! We often don't tend to do the activities / visit the attractions that are on our own doorstep :)

You highlighted Moomins many times on your walking trip. You probably didn't notice that you ended your filming at Park of Tove Jansson. She was author and illustrator of Moomins. On her youth she lived on the street far end of the park you were heading to.
Thanks for watching and for providing the additional information. You're spot on, I did focus on the Moomins a bit, especially as I could not locate them when I filmed my previous vlog. I only saw the Moomin candy in the supermarket, but during the silent walk they all of the sudden appeared out of nowhere. I remember watching Moomin stories on the TV in South African growing up, translated into Afrikaans. I did not know that the author and illustrator lived that close to the park. Cheers!
So what are your plans for 2024, if you don’t mind me asking??
I can't give all my surprises away just yet, but let's just say I do have a number of destinations in mind ;)
