All these years later, is it still a great synth? I recently bought a novation summit, but this seems more versatile Would it be crazy to buy a g2 these days? Thanks Brendan
The Nord Modular G2 is a great synth. It is very flexible and powerful. I'm a little wary of digital systems that rely on a stack of dependencies - the G2 isn't much use if the software doesn't continue to be supported on current systems. That isn't the case now, but just ask original Nord Modular owners who were stranded. The G2 doesn't sound bad, but it does have 'a sound' I prefer the user-directed evolution of a hardware modular and all the limitations that brings.
ISA215 two channel mic pre + EQ. The real deal, IE: before the acquisition of the Focusrite name and downmarket slide. Absolutely unbelievable sounding.
thanks 4 the great explanation! really helped. but ive got a question and was wondering if you could help me out. im about to buy a hardware, and through your explanaition i got to know the G2 which i had never come across and put me in serious doubt. i was going to get me a nord rack 3 before i watched your review, but this one seems to be an amazing equipment as well. would u shad some light on my thoughts ? which of these sinths should work better for electronic music production? thanx mate

It is a shame that most synth keyboards have cheep plastic keys. For me, having piano keys is a must because I play piano. It is also a shame that most synths are monphonic because chords are a must in 99% of music. Is the Nord Modular G2 pollyphonic?
Yeah i have the fisrt generation modular ...but one of the outputs has died on me ...happens a lot on clavia synths ...which is reallly ashame ...best synth ever ..That's for sure ...so diverse and user friendly
I have played both G2 and first gen Modular, also I have owned a Micro Modular in the past, personally I prefer the sound of the first generation Modular's, I think they have more character and a more gritty sound. I would spend days locked up making sounds on the modular G1, gott'a love Clavia

I own a G2. Realistically, I can say its safe to assume one would never not be able to find at the very least an old WINDOWS XP machine to run the software editor on. There will always be some way to emulate XP on a current computer, and there are third party open source versions of the editor being developed. I've not had a problem running the editor on newer Windows machines. Even a MAC user would be able to easily find a cheap XP computer on which to run the software.
Very nice man!I am considering of buying this synth insted of the moog sub seq7...Is it easy to use for a person that doesnt know a lot of things about synthesis and also what do u think about the lead sounds?
LOL at the gunshot effect @ 5:09. I had to watch it a few times before i got it. I love the self-deprecating subtitles too. Thanks for the demo. I just got a G2 and this was helpful when i was trying to figure out the capabilities. Thanks!
It is a great introduction to the concept and workings of modular synthesis, as well as one of the best sounding "virtual analog" synthesizers that exists. If one wants a single synthesizer with which to be able to produce just about any sound, the G2 and the Kurzweil K2600 are about as deep as you can go.
It is a closed system, but pretty infinite as far as what you can do with just this machine and the software. There is obviously never going to be any comparison to new (or old) analogue modular systems. There are more modules with more diverse sonic options than one could ever be able to buy and/or use I this lifetime. Analog rules sonically, but the NORD is great for what it is and what it does, and completely unique. There is no other synthesizer like it and probably never will be again.
5:09 lol
Love how you make fun of yourself! But there's really no need to, it's all good man :)

Serious question, does it have "Ahh" voices built in, or does that require additional software to load something like that?
Nice job dude, that was the most comprehensive review of the G2 I've ever seen. Nord should be paying you for this stuff.

So you seem to be really familiar with it. Why did you sell it - for the money itself or to get a different synthersizer?
because the pitch stick is patented by clavia ..that's why other synth manafacturers can't incorporate into their designs
I believe you are my twin brother. You sound and look just like me.! woohoo
The pitch stick was patented, Clavia basicly invented it
MUST.GET.THIS.SYNTH!!!!
Cool!
What preset you used for the vocoder demo in the video?
I bought a G2 and tried to use the vocoder without success. I use Shure SM58 Mic.
Cheers
people describe things better when they're selling ;[]
how do i connect to the compute to use as midi?
Vocoder's pretty awesome.

It's a monosynth?
talk less, play more
Ha ha! A generic C-minor lick. I don't know much else than a C-minor thing...
i hate digital
i'm a hardcore nord lead2x player. so sad they discontinued both of these keyboards.
well done, thanks so much for the explanation, alghough it seems not totally clear for me...
@WARDISWARD Speaking of which, I wish Clavia made a stand alone controller.
I want one of those things, first thing I do is make an AC-socket/plug xD
Do you need to use the software editor to work with this synth to it's fullest capabilities? Thanks Stretta
Brillaint.
why
you can assign any MIDI controller to any of the parameters on this synth. This solves any limitation by the setup of knobs/buttons.

Hiromi chose Nord Lead for the same reason, the pitch bender!
really great demo man
I really want one
I like the innovation in this synth
so cool
nice tutorial man, is this the nord with realistic organ sounds built in?
OMG! i fell in love! would you still happen to sell it?
