Because you asked: the Fenty stick caused me to break out. I can totally see why people love it--great coverage, silicone-y, blends easily, and I thought it was my new holy grail for the first few days--but it was basically like filling my pores with spackle that no amount of deep cleaning could fix. I'm now back on the hunt for a lightweight, long-wearing foundation that plays well with sunscreen AND doesn't trigger my sensory processing condition (because makeup and complexion products are useless if they make you want to claw your face off).
The Eaze Drop fluid miiiight fare better, but I have to revisit it. I didn't *love* it, but I don't remember why. The *feel* of the Danessa Myricks wasn't terrible, but I found the lack of 100% dry-down to be mildly triggering, but again, I can see why it's a lovely product. I have it, I use it when my skin is thirsty and I think I can actually achieve something close to dry-down. Suggestions? Something on the lighter side for my neurospiciness needs, but long-wearing? Basically, I need something to be sweat-proof while I'm working for 10+hours on set photographing, ironically, makeup.
if you’re ok with very light coverage, i’ve found the dry down on the caliray skin tint to be perfect for my needs. i also can’t stand the feeling of makeup and heaviness on my skin, so i stick to exclusively gel and water-type formulations. i also had luck with the dry down on the glossier foundation for more high-coverage days.

Nars Light Reflecting is nice and lightweight, nice finish, good coverage, but not as long-wearing as I'd like. Dior post-reformulation doesn't dry down, ditto MAC Face and Body. Chanel Les Beiges was nice in the dead of winter if I was back east and my skin was dry and cranky, but I live in SF and it never gets that cold or dry here, so it just felt like a mask. Estee Lauder Longwear Sheer miiiiiiight be ok, but I feel like they're discontinuing it? Pat McGrath is nice, but I cannot for the life of me get an accurate shade match, and it never seems to like any of my sunscreens (I'm *thisclose* to making a spreadsheet to log my trial and error attempts). Le sigh. But I'll check out the Caliray, thanks!

For oily skin and not having the consistency feel weird, I love the Rare Beauty skin tint. It’s essentially matte but doesn’t look or feel matte, I use it every day! Obviously it’s not a ton of coverage but it’s also not Glossier skin tint next to zero coverage. It also comes in a nice easy squeeze tube that isn’t obnoxiously large.

I’m olive! and use IE as a subtle color corrector for my under eyes and around my mouth area. It’s just orange enough that I can’t use all over yet perfect for a color correction
@@Reggiespaghettismom Light olive here and first bought KTown (7) which is almost there but a hint too peachy. Thought MDR(9) would be too dark, but it turns out to be exact match for me. I mix it with the new About Face foundation in Light 2 Olive, and I've never had a more perfect combo/skin color match! That said, I don't do lighter concealer under my eyes, I prefer actual skin color. I don't deal with too much darkness, but have thinner skin with veins showing.

My issue with the Tower 28 concealer is not the shade but that I find it to cling to every iota of texture and look super dry and aging (especially especially under the eyes but not great on larger areas of the face either). And I am OILY so I am so confused why dry skinned folks in my age range like it?! For reference I normally use the Kosas concealer for my under eye and Nars soft matte complete for red/pimply areas. I feel like some folks said tower 28 and Kosas were similar but I find that not to be the case at all.

I have very dry skin, and the Tower 28 concealer is my HG. Never have issues with it looking weird or cakey or dry. But I really hydrate my skin before applying makeup, and it isn't reacting to over production of oil on the skin throughout the day either. Oily doesn't mean hydrated, so that could be why it clings to texture etc on oily skin. I bought the Kosas since people were comparing it and raving as well, and it looks like butt on my skin, and is nothing similar at all. The Nars concealers don't work on my dry skin either, so thick and dry looking/aging. It might just be a formula that doesn't play well with oily skin?

These top shelves are always so funny to me. Almost everything you love, I love. Except that Tower 28 concealer. When it sets on me, i look HAGGARD. It gives me eye wrinkles and lines like nothing else. I’m also prone to eczema under my eyes, and nothing sets it off like that Tower 28 concealer. It is my most hated product I’ve ever tried. 😂
Hey Kackie! I can't believe I am so early. I feel the same way, I love my favorite makeup within reach and I been thinking of different ways to show all my makeup some much needed love because I really love them! I tried different ways to organize my makeup so I can have easy access to them. However, easier said than done. So I first organized it by putting by makeup type. It worked for awhile but I found myself wanting to use makeup by brand so, I organized by brand. However, I find myself wanting to mix brands together especially, if I don't have complete items for a full application. So now, I decided to just take my basic essentials in makeup brands and put them together by makeup type. So now I can choose which concealer, mascara, eyeliner, primer, setting powder, undereye powder, sun protection, eye lashes w/glue, lip liner and lipstick and lip gloss I am going to use when I do my makeup. What I do with the collection of brands I have stored together, I have left an empty drawer and I take a brand out and use it for a week. At the end of the week, I put it away and take another brand to use for the coming week. So far, it's working for me! Kackie, I am not a UA-camr, I am just a Makeup Lover who LOVES to play with makeup. I want you to know that what you do makes a difference. Don't ever doubt it. Every time I see you, you light a spark within me that is slowly bringing me back to finding myself before on stage 4 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Cancer along with a Sepsis Infection that shutdown my body and had to be put into a medical coma and then had emergency surgery. I had a serious bout with cellulitis and extreme sepsis last year - my cellulitis was so bad it caused my Achilles tendon to tear. I am still in PT after spending a month solid in the hospital, and then many IV infusions in the infectious disease office. I second this comment. Kackie, your reviews do make a difference. Besides they are quite entertaining! I just finished Tom's latest Critical Sass and between your two videos I am set! I appreciate you doing these videos and you never know who you are reaching or what they are going thru. My bout with sepsis was from my port implant where they were administering my chemo. You are not kidding, it's a slow road to recovering. I am thankful for the UA-camrs that help me escape thinking about what I had to endured and inspire me to dream about having a future with my love ones. Take good care and don't give up. The Tower 28 concealer has been my favorite since August 2023. I use the shade BU which is the second lightest shade as well as the lightest shade with cool undertones, and it’s a perfect shade match for my cool fair skin. I have no problems with oxidation either. It’s the best, especially for normal to dry skin.
My mainstay perfumes are also all green for some reason, but I don’t have any of the ones you mentioned; I’m very intrigued! Also, as someone who has a very similar skin tone to you, though slightly more yellow, I am so in love with the corals and I need to pull all of mine out! I was having a contrasting moment for the last few weeks, but I am wanting to move into more native summer colors. 🧡

Ok so we are skin type twins (very dry) and I’m fair cool toned (you have helped me so much finally figuring this out so I just get the cool version of whatever you get). You have convinced me to buy Gucci bronzer, Kosas powder, and nars blush in behave. I will be buying the prada foundation (when they restock my shade. I will be impatiently waiting), candy glaze in clear, Laura merrier powder and ysl quad in 100. You have convinced me not to try the haus labs foundation (thank you for saving me the hassle). Much much appreciated!

FYI - the TLC happi scalp scrub is not it if you have a lot of hair. I have very fine hair strands, but I have a LOT of them, and it takes a lot of time and product to get my entire scalp covered pre-wash. I’ve only ever used it on a dry scalp/hair pre-wash day, bcuz that’s the instructions, maybe it’s easier if it’s damp first, but it literally took my 30-45 min to actually get my entire scalp covered. It is great afterwards but not sure it’s worth the effort & there’s other products out there that are also really good & way easier to use. I’ve been using the Amika reset oil and really really enjoying it. I’ve started using the Drunk elephant for just around my hairline, esp my neck where I’m prone to getting acne & it works better that way for me.
Ohhh no it is good feedback for the tower 28 concealer, thank you! - I thought I was going crazy but it totally oxidizes on me and goes 1-2 shade darker after it dries down, which is a bummer because the color looked so good originally. And if I am using the lightest shade it’s way way too light and pasty gray looking :/ I know you ended up not liking the haus lab concealer as much and said it was comparable, but on my dark circles and dry eyes it actually ended up working better than the tower 28. So depending on how tired I am, I usually go from the glossier concealer for light coverage, to the Givenchy for medium overage, to the haus labs for heavy duty. (Also it does help that the haus lab ended up being such a great shade match for my pale neutral skin)
i love top shelf and empties videos. i got a teeny tiny sample of clear Candy glaze a while back, and just bought 2 more. it’s one of my favorite lip products ever. thanks for sharing the colors you have so i could make a good decision on the tinted one. also love the green valentino perfume too, it’s the best flanker so far imo! my husband loves the green one for men too. 💚
This is what I needed to pull the trigger on the LED mask. I bought the Dennis Gross lip LED mask last fall per your rec and noticed a crazy reduction in redness (I have rosacea) around my mouth lately, especially when I'm hot or have just had a glass of wine. I was one of the ones on your live having the ice cream color issue! Love the formula but DTLA is too light and rosey for me, EP is the right depth for me but leans orange on me, and IE is straight up orange on me (I have light/light medium neutral olive skin). I tend to mix DTLA and EP to try and make it work. Looking at the swatches online, IE looks perfectly desaturated which was a huge bummer it didn’t work
I have the Prada in two shades and very combo skin and I just cannot get it to work for me. I can't bring myself to give up trying every few weeks though because I guess I'm a sucker for frustration (and I rarely leave the house anyway) 😅
I have had really good luck with hair regrowth using minoxidil, as well as a couple of prescriptions (ketoconazole shampoo 1x/week, clobetasol solution) and the Ordinary copper peptides hair density serum. I just apply the serums all together at night, it's not a demanding routine but it takes up to a year to see results and you have to keep doing it forever. It's worth it for me. xx

The tower 28 concealer was greenish/ grey on me. Loved the formula but the color was just off for me. Picked up the lightest shade and had to throw away. Shame.

The T28 concealer seems so lovely but I also struggled to find a shade match 😢 I’m a bit deeper than you and I’ve found there are some significant depth/undertone combos that are skipped!

I have tried the Tower 28 and its my new favorite. It just feels so fucking good on, and looks so good too. I can see the idea of the "ice cream" shade with the very very first one. I use the second and fourth shades, and perhaps that first shade is too pinky white? Not sure. But if nothing else you turned me on to it as a fantastic product, I even bought it for my mother and she loves it too. No product is perfect, but I feel like this product at least is excellent.
Curious about Matcha Meditation-you note the bright, fresh, and tea notes but fragrant it is says there’s a definitive creamy, white chocolate note which is not for me. Does anyone concur?
I have super oily skin and I love the kosas powder! More for the blurring than oil control. I just blot off oil rather than powdering because adding powder to all that oil just makes goo.
I also am a recent merit shadow convert. I’d only seen raves about them from dry skin babes so I assumed they wouldn’t work on me, but I tested them on my skin in Sephora and then I literally had to scrub them off 😳 so I decided to give them a try as bases and holy cannoli I finally found something that doesn’t crease on my semi-hooded oily eyelids.

Echoing others here regarding Tower 28 concealer not working for me. I THOUGHT I got the right shades. I did a Sephora trip weeks ago, swatched, noted my shades, bought them during the sale, got them, and I swear they are NOT the same shades I swatched 😂. I don't if it's Sephora's stupid lighting or me not having enough coffee that day but my under eye shade was at least 2 shades darker and neon orange on me (shade SAMO). The shade up (SB) despite being marketed as neutral turned orange on me. I'm not sure if it oxidized or went on orange from the get go, but I only noticed it after a few hours of wear. Going on it felt really nice, but later in the day did feel cakey and texturey on me. So sadly, they shall return 😞 However for what it's worth I LOVE the Caliray new corrector/illuminator/concealer thingies. Game changer! Love wearing alone or mixing in with my thicker or drier concealers to thin them out while adding radiance and colour correcting qualities. It is a THINNNNN product, feels like water on the skin. But great dry down. Not much coverage at all...but perks things up beautifully! Kiiiiiiiiiiiinda reminds me of YSL's touche eclat (the original), but also different lol. It's marvelous! Especially for my fellow minimal girlies!
I have the Tower 28 concealer in BU, and when I swatched all my base products the other day, it was my grayest and least peach/yellow/pink except for maybe the Rose Inc 010 that matches Hannah. The brand calls BU “neutral cool”? I don’t usually go for the “cool-toned” base colors, but they work in T28 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Same!! I'm also oily and it makes my undereyes look AWFUL. It must not work with our skin type. So bizarre. I can use it on my cheeks but honestly I rarely reach for it.
I have very dry skin, and the Tower 28 concealer is my HG. Never have issues with it looking weird or cakey or dry. But I really hydrate my skin before applying makeup, and it isn't reacting to over production of oil on the skin throughout the day either. Oily doesn't mean hydrated, so that could be why it clings to texture etc on oily skin. I bought the Kosas since people were comparing it and raving as well, and it looks like butt on my skin, and is nothing similar at all. The Nars concealers don't work on my dry skin either, so thick and dry looking/aging. It might just be a formula that doesn't play well with oily skin?

These top shelves are always so funny to me. Almost everything you love, I love. Except that Tower 28 concealer. When it sets on me, i look HAGGARD. It gives me eye wrinkles and lines like nothing else. I’m also prone to eczema under my eyes, and nothing sets it off like that Tower 28 concealer. It is my most hated product I’ve ever tried. 😂

Hey Kackie! I can't believe I am so early. I feel the same way, I love my favorite makeup within reach and I been thinking of different ways to show all my makeup some much needed love because I really love them! I tried different ways to organize my makeup so I can have easy access to them. However, easier said than done. So I first organized it by putting by makeup type. It worked for awhile but I found myself wanting to use makeup by brand so, I organized by brand. However, I find myself wanting to mix brands together especially, if I don't have complete items for a full application. So now, I decided to just take my basic essentials in makeup brands and put them together by makeup type. So now I can choose which concealer, mascara, eyeliner, primer, setting powder, undereye powder, sun protection, eye lashes w/glue, lip liner and lipstick and lip gloss I am going to use when I do my makeup. What I do with the collection of brands I have stored together, I have left an empty drawer and I take a brand out and use it for a week. At the end of the week, I put it away and take another brand to use for the coming week. So far, it's working for me! Kackie, I am not a UA-camr, I am just a Makeup Lover who LOVES to play with makeup. I want you to know that what you do makes a difference. Don't ever doubt it. Every time I see you, you light a spark within me that is slowly bringing me back to finding myself before on stage 4 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Cancer along with a Sepsis Infection that shutdown my body and had to be put into a medical coma and then had emergency surgery. God carried me through it and I thank God for his grace and mercy over my life every day. It's been 8 months and each day I get stronger and stronger! The spring sale came at the right time and I am slowly restocking on what I need. I had a serious bout with cellulitis and extreme sepsis last year - my cellulitis was so bad it caused my Achilles tendon to tear. I am still in PT after spending a month solid in the hospital, and then many IV infusions in the infectious disease office. I second this comment. Kackie, your reviews do make a difference. Besides they are quite entertaining! I just finished Tom's latest Critical Sass and between your two videos I am set! I appreciate you doing these videos and you never know who you are reaching or what they are going thru. You've been a lifeline for me plenty of times when I was lonely, scared, and stuck in the hospital. I hope you know how important and appreciated you are. Simon could not be any cuter!! My bout with sepsis was from my port implant where they were administering my chemo. You are not kidding, it's a slow road to recovering. I am thankful for the UA-camrs that help me escape thinking about what I had to endured and inspire me to dream about having a future with my love ones. Take good care and don't give up. The Tower 28 concealer has been my favorite since August 2023. I use the shade BU which is the second lightest shade as well as the lightest shade with cool undertones, and it’s a perfect shade match for my cool fair skin. I have no problems with oxidation either. It’s the best, especially for normal to dry skin.
My mainstay perfumes are also all green for some reason, but I don’t have any of the ones you mentioned; I’m very intrigued! Also, as someone who has a very similar skin tone to you, though slightly more yellow, I am so in love with the corals and I need to pull all of mine out! I was having a contrasting moment for the last few weeks, but I am wanting to move into more native summer colors. 🧡
I can vouch for Father Figure and Valentino, thanks to recommendations from Kackie. Although, that Fataher Figure...just be prepared to walk around with your nose stuck to your wrist. It smells SO good! ❤

You have convinced me to buy Gucci bronzer, Kosas powder, and nars blush in behave. I will be buying the prada foundation (when they restock my shade. I will be impatiently waiting), candy glaze in clear, Laura merrier powder and ysl quad in 100. You have convinced me not to try the haus labs foundation (thank you for saving me the hassle). FYI - the TLC happi scalp scrub is not it if you have a lot of hair. I have very fine hair strands, but I have a LOT of them, and it takes a lot of time and product to get my entire scalp covered pre-wash.
I’ve only ever used it on a dry scalp/hair pre-wash day, bcuz that’s the instructions, maybe it’s easier if it’s damp first, but it literally took my 30-45 min to actually get my entire scalp covered.
It is great afterwards but not sure it’s worth the effort & there’s other products out there that are also really good & way easier to use.
I’ve been using the Amika reset oil and really really enjoying it.
I’ve started using the Drunk elephant for just around my hairline, esp my neck where I’m prone to getting acne & it works better that way for me.
The born in Roma smells like Baskin Robbins 31 Shrek ice cream which I want to say is grape and green apple or something... 😅
Ohhh no it is good feedback for the tower 28 concealer, thank you! - I thought I was going crazy but it totally oxidizes on me and goes 1-2 shade darker after it dries down, which is a bummer because the color looked so good originally. And if I am using the lightest shade it’s way way too light and pasty gray looking :/ I know you ended up not liking the haus lab concealer as much and said it was comparable, but on my dark circles and dry eyes it actually ended up working better than the tower 28. So depending on how tired I am, I usually go from the glossier concealer for light coverage, to the Givenchy for medium overage, to the haus labs for heavy duty. (Also it does help that the haus lab ended up being such a great shade match for my pale neutral skin)

I bought the Dennis Gross lip LED mask last fall per your rec and noticed a crazy reduction in redness (I have rosacea) around my mouth lately, especially when I'm hot or have just had a glass of wine. I was one of the ones on your live having the ice cream color issue! Love the formula but DTLA is too light and rosey for me, EP is the right depth for me but leans orange on me, and IE is straight up orange on me (I have light/light medium neutral olive skin). I tend to mix DTLA and EP to try and make it work. Looking at the swatches online, IE looks perfectly desaturated which was a huge bummer it didn’t work
I have the Prada in two shades and very combo skin and I just cannot get it to work for me. I can't bring myself to give up trying every few weeks though because I guess I'm a sucker for frustration (and I rarely leave the house anyway) 😅
I have had really good luck with hair regrowth using minoxidil, as well as a couple of prescriptions (ketoconazole shampoo 1x/week, clobetasol solution) and the Ordinary copper peptides hair density serum. I just apply the serums all together at night, it's not a demanding routine but it takes up to a year to see results and you have to keep doing it forever. It's worth it for me. xx

The tower 28 concealer was greenish/ grey on me. Loved the formula but the color was just off for me. Picked up the lightest shade and had to throw away. Shame.
I finally got the Tower28 concealer during the sale and I LOVE it! I’ve used it about 3 days now and it is perfect under my eyes. Definitely going on my top shelf along with the Ciele skin tint that I also got in the sale. Thank you for the recommendations as always!

The T28 concealer seems so lovely but I also struggled to find a shade match 😢 I’m a bit deeper than you and I’ve found there are some significant depth/undertone combos that are skipped!

I have tried the Tower 28 and its my new favorite. It just feels so fucking good on, and looks so good too. I can see the idea of the "ice cream" shade with the very very first one. I use the second and fourth shades, and perhaps that first shade is too pinky white? Not sure. But if nothing else you turned me on to it as a fantastic product, I even bought it for my mother and she loves it too. No product is perfect, but I feel like this product at least is excellent.
Curious about Matcha Meditation-you note the bright, fresh, and tea notes but fragrant it is says there’s a definitive creamy, white chocolate note which is not for me. Does anyone concur?

Echoing others here regarding Tower 28 concealer not working for me. I THOUGHT I got the right shades. I did a Sephora trip weeks ago, swatched, noted my shades, bought them during the sale, got them, and I swear they are NOT the same shades I swatched 😂. I don't if it's Sephora's stupid lighting or me not having enough coffee that day but my under eye shade was at least 2 shades darker and neon orange on me (shade SAMO). The shade up (SB) despite being marketed as neutral turned orange on me. I'm not sure if it oxidized or went on orange from the get go, but I only noticed it after a few hours of wear. Going on it felt really nice, but later in the day did feel cakey and texturey on me. So sadly, they shall return 😞 However for what it's worth I LOVE the Caliray new corrector/illuminator/concealer thingies. Game changer! Love wearing alone or mixing in with my thicker or drier concealers to thin them out while adding radiance and colour correcting qualities. It is a THINNNNN product, feels like water on the skin. But great dry down. Not much coverage at all...but perks things up beautifully! Kiiiiiiiiiiiinda reminds me of YSL's touche eclat (the original), but also different lol. It's marvelous! Especially for my fellow minimal girlies!

I have the Tower 28 concealer in BU, and when I swatched all my base products the other day, it was my grayest and least peach/yellow/pink except for maybe the Rose Inc 010 that matches Hannah. The brand calls BU “neutral cool”? I don’t usually go for the “cool-toned” base colors, but they work in T28 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I also love the new powder, two holy grails for me, Laura mercier is killing it this year!!
