DUDE! This is basicaaly the tutorial I've been waiting for since Z50 was released. Now I'm more anxious to buy it! Thank you so much for making this. Best regards from Brazil!
I want you to know I have very much appreciated your video. I have been shooting Nikon since I bought my F in 1967 but have very limited experience with this ‘menu stuff’ on modern digital cameras.
I received my Z50 two days ago and you have shown me how to utilize the exposure and focusing principles from my F through these menus on this new beast. You have saved me a great deal of frustration and I am grateful.
Amazing and thorough tutorial. Your style of explaining all of this is second to none! So helpful. Thank you!
Great job man! It's astounding how much control Nikon gives one on an entry level camera. Just purchased mine with the 2 lens kit to use for street photography. This camera is so light, even with a lens mounted, it makes street use lightning fast. I've been shooting for 40 years and this is the most fun camera I've ever used!
His is the ne plus ultra tutorial ever. I bought the camera some weeks ago but couldn't get to grips with how to use the settings in combination. This tutorial saved me months of searching and frustration learning to use the camera. Thank you for taking the time and patience to explain each detail in easy to understand terms. ❤
Still remember more than 10 years ago i bought one of your tutorial on DVD and from the tutorial u taught me many basic abt photography and now i had my own bird photography workshop around the world. Just want to say THANK YOU and if UA-cam allowed me to give you 1000 likes, i will do it!
Vault Boy so nice to hear from you - your story makes me happy :)
I just bought a Nikon z50 and I couldn’t be happier finding your tutorial. Amazing run through og the camera and its functions. Thank you a lot for everything you do.
I've been studying online, watching UA-cam tutorials, joined Facebook groups to learn. However THIS.....THIS video just made so much sense. Everything just 'clicked' NOW I get it! Thank you so so so so much!!!!! I'm so excited to see what I'll be able to achieve now.
I love back button focus and I do mainly landscape, birds and plants. It's individual preference. Thanks Michael, I've only had the Z50 for a little while. Goes to show that even after 4 years your vids are still important. Thank you
Wow…this is a GREAT video. Not only an in depth look at the Z 50 but an excellent and very clear overview of essential photography knowledge. Well done. Thank you!
Outstanding tutorial. So much to learn, so easy to comprehend.
And it's a wonderful little camera.
Thank you for the great tutorial.
Just ordered the Z50, this is the best tutorial I've seen, it'll be my bible, thanks from the UK.
Just Got a Z50, have been a Nikon guy all my life, from the Nikon FM in the early '80s (before that a Minolta 101) to an F100, to a D100, and to my last one before upgrading now, D200. I find your video's very useful, love it! You don't bore the more knowledgable person, and to me, you are showing me basic camera operation of the Z50. I have always had a problem with the terminology of Nikon, (AFS, AFE, to me the whole focus thing lacks distinction, but that's just me) Love your videos!
This is the best comprehensive tutorial on Z50 i ever found. I learned ehole lot of things from this. Appreciate your efforts big time!!
This is amazing. I followed the entire video and this helped to setup my new camera. I like that you went deeper into wifi connectivity as the other videos I watched did not and that’s where I was stuck. Thank you so much for this and that it’s free..... Wow!
I just saw this tutorial from end to end, it is fantastic, very didactic, well explained, thank you very much. It has been very useful, yesterday I bought the z50, and this video has given me a good approximation of how to handle it.
Thanks again for this video, greetings from Uruguay, Pablo.
Hi , I've watch this video four times and it seems like I learn something asa never noticed before..Thank you for such work you/ve done
New to photography and just purchased my first real camera the z50 this video has helped me tremendously thank you for this greatly appreciated....👍🏼
Thank you. Very complete. I would have never learned the camera menus like this by reading the manual. The chapter list is so very helpful. A lot of work. God bless you.
Just finished going over the video for the 5th time, the more i see it, the more I like it! Its great, love it and keep up the great work, and great tips!!
Thank you Alberto!
Wow I recently came across the DVD that I bought from you over ten years ago. Back then I was using my Nikon D90. I just bought the Z50 and wasn't going to use it to shoot a small wedding but now after watching this video, I think I can. I am taking my D90 and D7100 as well. Thanks for taking the time to do this video. It certainly helped me!
As a beginner starting with the Z50, this video is just perfect ! Thanks man !
Excellent video. Best description of shooting adjustments and applications of any of the multi day courses I have taken.
Terrific video. Thank you very much for explaining so professionaly and clearly how to use this camera. 10/10
I watched ur D5300 video long time back and that was awesome video and helped me lot in my photography.
now for Z50 I specially search for you and found this one.
and it fabulous video and no other video give this much info about Z50.
I really appreciate your effort to make this video.
I have learned so much from you. From Nikon focusing to now. I have a Z 50 and it's great..Now I look forward to getting my first full frame camera. Z5. Looking forward to learning more from you. Thanks
Absolutely brilliant Michael. Thank you. I used your course to see if this was going to be the next camera I am going to buy. Have already checked out the handling in store. It seems to be a great little camera. Best wishes with your work.
Great tutorial for this camera, thanks. Photography is all new to me. My wife gave me this camera.
Brilliant video on the Z50, I will be coming back to watch again as I can't take it all in one viewing. Thanks so much for your time and expertise.
This is Awesome!
Thank you very much for this great tutorial. This is what I really need to use my new Z50.
Just got my Z50 today and this video is soo helpful thanks!
Absolutely amazing, infinitely thank you
Thanks a ton for making this elaborate video..Extremely helpful to get up to speed!
Really great video, I just got this Camera and this was a great way to kickstart my journey. Definitely a change from my DSLR but I think i can adapt quickly
It took me a while of searching the net on new cameras esp mirrorless to go for this camera but seeing this tutorial you did on the Z 50 I'm glad I did it seems like what I want and I have booked marked this so I can review thanks again I will be checking out more of your stuff soon
Thank you for such an in-depth video. It has been very helpful.
Thank you for this. Way better than reading the manual!
Your video is the MOST helpful. Your speaking speed is perfect. Your camera placement, so I can follow is also perfect. The additional help with SNAP Bridge was extremely helpful. I am subscribing now! Thank you!
If you enjoyed this lesson on your Z 50 and want to learn more about how to use it check out my everything else crash course: www.canontrainingvideo.com/speciality-courses-c-11/everything-else-crash-course-p-131.html?zenid=77m6i9n0lkqmqp8scu322q8vt6
Hi Michael, haven't finish the tutorial, but so far I am really enjoying this tutorial. I found the answer to the pin focus point. You have to be in AF-S mode for the pin focus point to show up. I had my camera in the AF-A. Sorry for the initial questions.
Great review, just got my Nikon Z50.
We just got this camera and are heading to glacier and banff in July. appreciate the video!
THE BEST !!! Many thanks!!!
So detailed tutorial, Thank you so much
Amazing and very very intuitive! Thank u very much
Nice job!! Super informational!
Great tutorial, thanks for doing it. I'm really thinking of getting the z50 or just stepping up and getting the z7ii
Fabulous video!
Very helpful for a new Nikon owner such as myself. Many thanks.👍
Thank you so much for this video!
I tried reading the manual, but it was much too dry and the information went in one eye and straight out the other!
I would definitely love to know more about what lenses I can use with this camera. But as a complete begginer, I am just going to stick with the two kit lenses and invest more time into learning about photography techniques themself i.e. adjusting shutter speed, aperture and iso accordingly. I have ordered the book Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson, which I am hoping will help me with learning these aspects. Once I grasp that, and am hopefully still enjoying photography, then I will look into upgrading my gear.
Thank you for listening to my story, hahaha. 😂
Where were you when I had my Nikon D50 and D70. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Stopped shooting back around 2007, decided to get back into it, figured I would try mirrorless. Oh my this thing is tiny and light compared to my old cameras.
really appreciate this
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Much love from India 🇮🇳
Nice tutorial, Michael!
Excellent video 😊!
Thank you! Did not watch everything, but selected chapters - thx for the lens recommendation using a f mount 50 mm lens :-)
Thank you so much. Pretty helpful
Good morning MikeI Your guides are the best! Looking for my first interchangeable lens camera. I am enthusiast basically doing stills for travel, street and landscape. Size and budget matters! I am down to three choices:
1. Canon eos rp with kit 24 105 mm lens USD 1435
2. Nikon z50 with 16-50mm F3.5-6.3 and 50-250mm lens USD1400
3. Fuji xt30 with 18-55 mm lens USD 1134
At present I am using Olympus stylus one and smartphone.
Great tutorial, although I have't finished watching all of it. Thank you very much! I am wondering about low light situations when I need fast shutter speeds (sports). In addition to the three parameters aperture, shutter speed an ISO mode, isn't there a fourth one, image resolution? The Z50 offers in DX format "Large: 5568 x 3712, Medium: 4176 x 2784, Small: 2784 x 1856". In "small", don't I (quasi) gain more light (at the cost of the possible size of enlargements)?
You just saved me 20 hours of reading. Gracias.
Amazing!!!!!!
Just got my z50 last week along with the 2 lenses available for it. Thank you for this tutorial it has been very helpful
Thank you so much 😊
You can also control your flash brightness on manual with the plus mines button
Great review!
As far as lens recommendations, I would also recommend the Nikon F mount 10mm-20mm AF-P lens. It's very small and light, and inexpensive. And, since it is a AF-P lens, it focuses real quickly and silently.
Richard Angeloni The AF-P lenses are awesome. Like u said fast focusing, super sharp, quiet (much more than the AF-S ) light as a feather and dirt cheap. I have the 10-20 and 70-300vr and am thinking about selling my Nikon 200-500 since the weight is a real pain, but it’s tack sharp. Have a D500 but thinking about the Z50 for travel.
@@dan4466 The D500 is an awesome camera but as you note the Z50 will make a great travel camera or a great camera to have around when you want to travel light. The Z50, with the 70mm-300mm AF-P lens, and adapter, is still pretty small and light.
As a new youtuber im realizing there are people that sit on youtube ALL DAY and just dislike videos for no reason at all its really annoying. Every video i put out starts out with 3 dislikes lol. Thanks for this awsome video i just got this z50 and love it.
It’s inevitable as your channel grows. The more views you get, the more there will be out there who are jealous of the success you are having. Consider it a badge of success!
It has got only 2 dislike so far. Not a bad day to start. Haha~
Summer2015 usually happens in the first 10 minutes haha
Great video! I need some help! I use a z50 and I noticed the brightness in the EVF and screen only reflect the brightness/exposure of the actual photo under Manual mode not A or S modes.(I have d8 set to apply to live view). The brightness in the EVF and screen doesn't change when I change the shutter speed or aperture but it does change when I adjust the exposure. The photos can come out really dark when they look bright in the EVF and Screen. Am I doing anything wrong?
Great video
I like your tutorials, just got the Z 50, question, If I used the GodoxTT685N Flash with this Z 50, can I used the Photitx Strato II Multi Wireless triggers? thanks
Mike I am down to two choices for my first interchangeable lens camera basically for travel, street, landscape and cityscape still photography .
1. Nikon z50 with 16-50 and 50-250 mm lens costing USD 1200.
2. Fuji xt30 with 18-55 lens costing USD 1170
Thank U.
Excellent!!!!
Thanks for taking the time to explain in detail the intricacies of the Z50. Mine arrived today , I'm used to the D80 and the D5600 but your input is invaluable. Capitol old chap.!
Great tutorial. I know Nikon DSLRs like the back of my hand but these new mirrorless cameras are throwing me for a loop (especially with the lack of a top LCD near the shutter). I thought I'd miss a mechanical DoF preview but then I realized the EVF does all that by its very nature.
Thanks for giving your tutorial video. I have one question please. On my Nikon z50, the exposure is voluntarily adjusting & opening up to plus 2-stops in all modes during normal shooting condition. This will make the image so bright. What is the root cause and the fix?
I have a red box with a line through it. It appears in the upper left side of my screen. What is that? Thanks
I enjoy this tutorial. Please allow me to ask: How to get Z50 continues powered while in use (for video streaming)? Thank you.
I have a question. My hdr setting in the camera setting is grayed out why is that? It won't let me turn it on. Help please
Hello Michael, thanks for the video. One question: why is there a flashing red lightning bolt in the lower right hand of the screen? It looks quite annoying, is there a way to disable it? Thanks in advance!
Can you capture Picture while in 4K Recording?
Very infometive , thanks alot. One thing i didn't understand. Why use the +-button instead of shutter button directly?
On my Z 50 I don't have the pin focus point. I have the following Single, Dynamic area, wide-area s, wide-area L and Auto-Area. I don't see a pin focus point, why is that?
Thank you
yesterday i bought z50 for indoor passport photographs(using 3 soft box flash lights). if mode is in M and iso is in 100, (auto iso is off) viewfinder and display monitor becomes black. i cant see anything. camera cant focus the subject. i am unable to use this. is there any solution?
Hello, I'm planning to purchase this. Just wondering if the z50 can output clean 4k30 HDMI through a USB capture card?
hi is this work with the older external flash like sb 700 sb 900?
This camera feels so good to hold compared to some of the competition
How do I get the flip down screen to stop taking mirror images? All pics and videos are mirrored when I use that!
How do I add the small square that stays centered on the screen in AF S mode ?
Any idea why the 'Movie Quality' option under 'Movie Shooting Menu' menu is greyed out?
Hey, what would be the best tripod for z50?
My autO ISO keeps flashing even after I turn it off. How do I sort that out? Michael
How to geotag photo? Is it possible to do so connecting to mobile device with gps on?
I turn on A but the dial does not change the F stop?
Very basic question about your display: I came to this video because I want to learn how to shoot in manual or aperture priority mode. I am not getting the gray-background screen on the display that you have here. How do I get that view? I am seeing what the lens sees (my living room) unless I have the lens cap on, but even with the cap on I don't see the gray screen. (I have been shooting in auto mode for 3-1/2 years now and I have been using Lightroom Classic and Photoshop for six months.)
I want to shoot birds but camera too often decides a twig or a leaf is more important. Please advise!
i am new here. I am trying to follow but 14:20 i don't have most of those icons on my screen especially the one at the top
damn my dude, you cover everything in here except the thing i need to know: how to get my GD mic working
Hi, Micheal- searching searching searching searcing for how to turn the self-timer ON and OFF. The manual, every tutorial, and this tutorial tells you how to set how many shots, how long the interval between shots, but WHERE IS THE BUTTON, DIAL, ANYTHING to tell you how to activate the self-timer itself and turn it off? Pardon me if I'm just blind or can't see what's in front of my face, but it's been so far a 45-minute search.
Release Modes at 21:45
Michael's tutorials are so detailed, you can probably make a camera when you;re done... Some videos are nothing more than spec sheets and 'comparison' content..
He is the BEST!
I would love to buy the camera but it has only one card slot. I wish they would bring out a more "professional" DX camera like the D7100/7200.
