- A look at some newly sprouted Washingtonia robusta seedlings, some Sabal palmetto seedlings, and waiting on some Chamaerops humilis to sprout. Also brought in the potted palms to the porch for the rest of fall.
Looking very healthy!
LOOKING GOOD! Get a growlight and a heater for the porch. You did an amzing job with the sabals bc they are hard to transplant when they are that small but they look healthy.! Do some date seedlings too!
Seedlings looks great for us it's usually 32 digress Fahrenheit for frost to form.
Thanks! I usually see frost in my yard when it gets to 36F or lower. The ground, plants, and other raised surfaces cool off faster than the air
@@indypalms have you checked to see if it's dew ? I know there has been a couple of times I thought things was frosty but it was just dew. Unless your like a zone 5 then I can see you getting frost before me for sure. I just know where I'm at in Indiana 32 is that frost number unless the real feels change then there could be that possibility.
@@thegreenthumb6184 I've seen frosts as warm as 41F in the past a couple times. It just depends on if the sky is clear and the winds are calm. Raised surfaces radiate energy more efficiently and can be much cooler than the air is. There's possibly going to be frost in the Louisville area tonight, but more likely further south, even into the outskirts of Nashville, TN. Lows around 34-37F in those areas. Fall weather is coming in quickly unfortunately. Hopefully it's not too terrible a winter.
@@indypalms yeah I agree. I think tomorrow I'm just going to take the majority of everything in. Cuz we just got those frost warnings tonight ourselves but I guess it's supposed to be rather patchy though.
What USDA zone do you live in?
I’m in zone 6
@@indypalms Zone 8B here.
@@1Kent Cool! We average three lows of 0F or colder a year here, but last winter was the first in awhile where that really happened. Lately the winters haven't been as bad.
