It means so much that you enjoy the content and for all the continued support you give me. I’m just trying to shed light on these important female figures who have been obscured for too long! Greetings. It's amazing how many IE cultures attempt to associate themselves with "Troy"/"Troad . The Romans did so via their descent for Aeneas and there are even connections to places as far away as "Ethiopia", via Memnon, according to the "Iliad" itself. Interesting that they also associate "Thor" with "Thrace" a place famous for its high proportion of Gingers. Cleopatra had Thracian roots and both she and Thor were said to be Gingers, as well. Red hair was surprisingly common among "Elites" in Antiquity as a result of the accumulation of recessive traits within a small, royal population. It also made them look physically distinct from the people they ruled over, with Cleopatra and her fellow Ptolomeys in Egypt, being a prime example.
    While the Norse may not be "directly" tied to "Troy" the basic migration pattern of "Anatolian farmers" moving ever North and Westward into Europe, bringing their horses, carts/chariots and language(s) is broadly correct. There is also a strong genetic connection with modern "Italians" an Ancient Anatolians, even if it wasn't through Aeneas himself. Some also suspect that one group(s) from the region may have been one of the many "Sea Peoples" that invaded Egypt in approx.1200 BC.
    The Hittites were also a great power in the region and are mentioned in both the Bible and Egyptian sources. We still have traces of Hittite with us today every time we say the word "water", which means "water" in Ancient Hittite. Indeed, the more we look, the more we're finding that "Asia Minor" seems to be the true "Cradle of Civilization", and by quite a large margin.
    Cheers!

      Yes I agree with you, it certainly seems to fit this migratory pattern you speak of..even when you look at the genetic side and the spread of R1A and B halpogroups.I think what some people miss is the fact these groups of people were moving around and interacting with indigenous peoples…so while they share commonality through the nomadic side, they are also different. Personally, I think this is why a lot of these early writing styles are similar, but the languages are different. I’m super fascinated in tracing this “As” root as a word for the gods..which i find in other languages means Hero rather than God. Which fits in with the notion of ancestor veneration. As mentioned in the series, Etruscans called their Gods Aiser..the Norse Aesir..in Avestan Zoroastrianism you have the figure called “arša airyanąm” which means “hero of the Aryas” and then in Ireland you get the Aos Si..which is problematical translated as fairy or similar..but when you look at the old lexicons..they were people who brought the arts such as metal work, poetry, astrology and the likes. There’s also a potential linguistic connection to the smelting of iron..but I’m still piecing it all together. It’s a rabbit hole for sure! Thanks again for the input and sorry I haven’t replied to your comment on our last discussion. I’ve been manic trying to finish this video series before the end of the weekend as I have a little one due and day now! Thanks again for the input mate 😊👌

      @@auld_boy Lots of powerful Mythical folks with A-names, like Athena, Ares, Aphrodite, Amun, Aten, Atman, Adam, etc...even Jesus calls himself the "Alpha & Omega". We also say "Ah-ha!", or describe "A-mazing" and "A-we inspiring" events with "A" sounds. It seems to be a very primordial sound for generally "good"/"important" things. Cheers!

    I would love more writings or archaeology to explore the idea of old ties with the ancient city. Troy was a port town when occupied, if I’m remembering my archaeology right, it’s landlocked nowadays. But the AEsir being used and its tries to other cultures around the Mediterranean also holds some of those lost stories too I’m guessing. Very exciting indeed.
    Excellent pronunciation btw.

      Thank you Kari, it was super important to me to get everything nailed for this one. Yes even the word Asia is interesting as I’m finding similar words, for similar groups of people all over..Aiser in Tuscany, Aesir in Scandinavia..in Avestan Zoroastrianism we have a figure called arša airyanąm who’s name means “hero of the Aryas” and in Ireland we get the Aos Si..and of course Asia itself is becoming an interesting word to consider. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment! 😊👌

    Those bloody Franks! In fact they are Sarmatians - Skythians!

    • @chrisnewbury3793
      @chrisnewbury3793 8 місяців тому +3

      Franks means free folk or the people of Freya. This split occurred in ancient antiquity and they, along with other tribes, were grouped as Keltoi or Celts.
      Long after, the Saxons, Sons of Isaac, who was likely named after his tribe the Saka, returned to their motherland. They left by boat but came back on horses. Skythians indeed!

    • @auld_boy
      @auld_boy  8 місяців тому +5

      If they did originate in Asia Minor then of course they would have a mix of Scythian descent, just like most of the other groups around the Black Sea, Greece and Asia Minor at that time. Even Achilles is called Lord Of Scythia by Alcaeus of Mytilene, and why his cult worship took place in part, on Snake Island in the Black Sea. Also Apollodorus calls the Mountain where Zeus hung Hera from “that Scythian mountain”.
