Casio CTK-811EX demo and tour: A heavyweight from the past...

- This CTK-811EX came to me unexpectedly and was a real treat to use with its strong early 90's vibe and pulsing, hefty speaker system. The styles are dreadful but can be enhanced and re-arranged using the great onboard midi controls. There's also a good synth section which I suspect I was only just beginning to understand...
i remember being 18 years old, and had this on lay-away for 3 months of at guitar center, i was so happy when i finally brought it home on december 15th 1999.
detailed memory! Nice one :)
I still rock one of these, along with the Ctk 611, I remember the CTK 811 was close to 400 quid if i remember, also it was rebodied into the CTk731 too, Great bit of kit, never really used most of its features like i did with the CTk611, But that was down to the fact that my GCSE music teacher putting me off music altogether. Just started to learn the piano again, and i am looking at rebooting my keyboard playing too, i am sort of toying with the idea of moving the casios on.
Yeesh, some music teachers can really suck the joy out of music eh? They seem to be much better these days, my daughter has a great time in her music classes.
@@gearfacts yeah, the music teacher had her favourites, and was not keen on keyboard players at all. My previous music teachers were great, two would gave me home work, ( the pieces to play that we did) Also with me having the same CTK 611, i could show the teacher would it could do. I did take private lessons too, sadly he is no longer around, he did push me onwards, and got me started with the piano. He would have loved my kurzweil 2600xs.
I'm not a big fan of wavetable sounds, but this one really looks interesting. I especially like the complex envelope sets, sounds like you can create some pretty unique sounds with them (including recreate classic SA sounds XD). And a pattern sequencer is always great! Thanks for this review :)
Glad you enjoyed it, General! :) #gearfacts
Picked up a Casio CTK-711EX.... $20 CAD at our local thrift shop. Thanks for the review ❤. Cheers
Bargain :)
en Chile es una joya hasta el día de hoy! muy cotizados y difícil de conseguir. Los más usados en el estilo de la cumbia ranchera que caracteriza a nuestro país
Me alegra que te haya gustado el vídeo :) Greetings from Australia
How much is this keyboard in market
Normally about $US50 :) #gearfacts
I have one.. It s great.. ✌✌
Would love to have a soundfont/VST version of these sounds
Yeah that'd be fun :)
@@gearfacts I'm currently doing projects of MIDI covers with old keyboard soundfonts, one of them is Casio SA-76 and HT-700. I found their soundfonts on the Internet :)
@@vito_keys sa76, wow! That’s certainly a stripped-back sound :)
@@gearfacts SA-76 is highly identical to the older CTK-230, which in turn based on stripped down samples of CTK-811/731/591
Hello friend .. I would like you to help me how can I create a disk 💾 with the name "PATTERN CONVERSION DISK" to use the conversation on the casio ctk 811 keyboard .. I would appreciate it very much if you could help me please .. Thanks
I don't know how to do it, sorry. Have you referred to the manual? It's here is you need it: www.manualslib.com/products/Casio-Ctk-811ex-692464.html
would you hand over convert midi on kayboard to Casio Ctk 811 EX? It is very important to me that I cannot buy this keyboard.
MIDI is essential

hey can you tell me where is the sustain on that keyboard?
price?
i own one of these ❤️ do you by any chance when this was released?
I'm really not sure, around 2000 I guess. Google might know.
@@gearfacts 1998, i think the 731 came out about then along with the bigger reworked version Wk series with the disk drive.
Released around 1999, it was the predecessor of the WK Series arrangers
Sixteen MIDI channels - you mean 16 track recorder?
Maybe, don't know. Too long ago! Gearfacts
Yes.
It had 16 midi channels, live mix channels that you could turn on or off but the actual song sequencer was 6 tracks for recording your songs.
How can i delete a user rythm?
Hello! I was offered one a couple of weeks ago. I'd like to know how much it costs one of these
Approximately $US75
Brand new they were close to £400, Disk drive based keyboards were expensive,
I got mine for £15, nice bit of kit.
The CTK-731 was basically the same keyboard (it also had a floppy drive, midi channel buttons etc), a bit less bulky with a slightly less powerful speaker system (though still heavy and loud enough!)
I agree :) #gearfacts
The CTk 711 was the same basic keyboard, but with out drive and had an orange display, but i never seen any of those for sale at all, for a good while.
I have that piano too!
I need a adapter but can't find it
Just get a DC multi-adapter, there are lots of stores that sell them and they are better than fixed 9V adapters.
Which do you prefer this or the CTK-900?
No, the CTK-900 is one of Casio's best ever. The 811EX is still good, though :) #Gearfacts
The pitch bend wheel makes this keyboard better
is it possible to record sound samples and send to email?
This keyboard is gone from my place now, but I could email you the audio from this video if you like.
How reset factory???
Hold down the ENTER button and turn it on
@@gearfacts thank you very much, we made it
@@jerzywiktor3249 Excellent!
Paranapiakeyboard
you are not able to play any keyboard
That is correct. Can I assist you with any questions?
