    Had a '73 handed down to me from my dad while I was a junior in High school in Miami Beach. I loved it all except the polyurethane front bumper that always cracked and required painting when someone else bumped in the front of the car.

      Under normal circumstances, no. But you never know when an out of the ordinary situation may land you one of these babies! Keep an eye out for ads in the local paper, online marketplaces, and any odd place where something crazy may show up. It happens all the time!

    Did someone say $44K+ for this????????? Don't forget the flat tappet cams from the Gen I motors won't have the proper amount of zinc in today's synthetic engine oils to stop it from wiping!!! If you don't know what I am talking about, then buying a classic auto without a rebuilt top half and a rocker/roller cam ain't your thang!!!

    All Vettes had IRS and if it wasn't a rag top it WAS a T-Top. These were NOT options

    • @talkingvegetable3538
      @talkingvegetable3538 8 років тому

      what about the one-piece removable hard-top?

    • @mcinkyt
      @mcinkyt 8 років тому

      That was available on the convertible?

    • @talkingvegetable3538
      @talkingvegetable3538 8 років тому

      mcinkyt
      I think they had both; a convertible with a removable hard top, as well, and then just a convertible, and then just a removable hard top without a convertible retractable top, too. Correct me if I am wrong... it was on the C2s around '66, I think. My mechanic was talking about it one day... TIME TO GOOGLE!!!

    • @thud9797
      @thud9797 4 місяці тому

      Yes the removable hardtop was for convertible only. You had two options, you could order it in addition to the soft top for about $265 extra or you could order it in place of the soft top for no extra cost. There was also a black vinyl covering available on the hardtop for another $75 or so.

      where are you located? I put my '76 together... if you are too far away I would be happy to lend some help over the net. Restoring mine allowed me to make a lot of mistakes and learn to avoid stuff.

    if this Corvette was put on a Dynamometer it could be around 500HP... NICE CAR!

    • @lamborgone1
      @lamborgone1 9 років тому

      Jimmy J What???? No way!! 73's were horrible power wise. 1970's were putting out 400 stock before all the smog shit they stuffed on them in 72-73 and 74-75's were joke a joke in power..

    • @talkingvegetable3538
      @talkingvegetable3538 8 років тому

      Dude, you're high... this car at best would Dyno at around 350HP; on a good day.

    • @gloriamoreno8668
      @gloriamoreno8668 5 років тому

      Yes, after 1972 the smog equipment was going on , and the compression was being reduced , the Auto manufacturers went from a " gross " horsepower rating to a " net " horsepower rating ,which reported a much lower advertised horsepower rating as well....I believe the
      " net" horsepower rating was the power measured at the rear wheels , as opposed to a" gross " horsepower rating that was taken at the flywheel.....the 1973 454 Corvette had a advertised " net " rating of 275 horsepower ( at the wheels ) , which in a 3,300 lb. Car still wasn't bad , and was still a fun car to drive .

    Code 953 on the door tag. Ok? Metallic yellow, not gold. Ok? You should know this before making the video. Ok? Mirror on right side door not original. Ok? About $5-8K overpriced. Ok?
