We’ve been to Oahu twice back in 2016 and 2017. We used taxi to and from airport. We rented a car for 2 days out of 7 days during those vacations to explore other places. In Maui 2021, we rented a Jeep for the whole week of our vacation which is a must! Curious. Does Oahu have Uber or Lyft for airport to hotel transport? Are they less expensive if there’s any? We’re planning to go back there at Christmas. Mahalo.
I just left Oahu Sunday. I did have a rental car thru enterprise near the airport. It was a Nissan Sentra and it was less than $700 for 8 days. I’m very glad we had it. Made it to some very beautiful places.
My wife and I rented a car and it was definitely worth it. We were staying on the east shore of Oahu and we made it around the entire island, so much to do.
I just wanted to say thank you, we just got back our vacation on Oahu and your videos helped us a ton on planning our vacation. We had a wonderful time, a vacation of a life time, and your video helped us do that! We stayed at HHV and used tour buses, or Uber the entire time. We saw the Polynesian center, pearl harbor, a tour of the north shore, swim at Waimea falls, dinner cruise, aloha stadium swap meet, etc! Out of the 7 days we only had 2 days to relax on the beach. That being said we saved a ton of money considering a compact rental in Oahu is currently $300 a day plus $60 parking per night. Two upsides you missed of using tours is #1 while on a bus you get to enjoy the scenery, and views instead of paying attention to the road, and traffic. #2 all the tour drivers we had where a wealth of knowledge, and history on our tours, we learned a ton from them which turned it from just a drive, to a interesting learning experience, and gave us a more enjoyable experience!
The last time I was on Oahu was February/early March 2020. I went on a couple of tours (Kaneohe sand bar and an Island tour) but typically, I got an Uber of Lyft to go to places like Kailua/Lanikai Beach or Koko Head trail, and pink Pillbox hike. Compared renting a car and parking fees, gas (and the hassle of finding a parking spot at your destination) I found Uber/Lyft to be very competitive, if not cheaper, and more relaxing.
Renting a car is sooo worth it! Parking can be expensive but its worth renting for at least a couple days to see other parts of the beautiful island. Traffic is not that bad in Hawaii compared to where I live (DC area), but that depends on where you’re coming from.
Congrats you guys!! I’ve been following you from when you had few hundred subscribers and thought to myself, these guys are way more talented and produce such quality videos and that you deserve more. I recommended you my my family and friends too. So glad that you’re here! For much more growth to come, I’ll keep supporting you guys ❤️
Right now medium size car cost up to $300/day and van is up to $600. Uber wait can be an hr at the airport. Uber/Lift charge double if not more currenty. It's all due to rental car shortage. Even scooters are all being rented out. I feel lucky to rent a car from Turo for $120 a day. It's crazy but happening right now. If anyone plan to visit Hawaii in May you should go and check!
ongrats on 10K. You guys do a great job. Really helped my visit to Oahu last week. We did rent a car and it went smooth. We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village so paid another $50 a day to park there. We did see the whole island every corner and did a ton. Thanks again and keep up the great channel.
Hi guys, I love your videos. I am a new subscriber and I am planning a family trip to Hawaii. Good information, easily understandable and very good quality of the videos. I want to give you a tip, if you subtitle your videos in Spanish you would gain thousands of subscribers, we are many Latinos in the USA who want to visit Hawaii and there is not much valuable information like the one you offer in our language. Keep growing.
Many many years back we used public transportation and yes it was a little slow but we had a great time going and staying as long as we wanted. Just an other option.
I'm going to Oahu next week for the first time and I definitely want to rent a car. It just seems worth it. Also I live in Los Angeles where the traffic is the worst; so I'm guessing Oahu will be tame in comparison.
We are staying at VRBO places that have free parking! That fee would add up to fast for our pocket book! Thanks for your video and congrats on 10,000 subs!
@@Livingtheglobe we will stay at Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, I guess it’s in walking distance to Waikiki beach. It’s really for relax. I’m still debating to rent a car, I don’t want to plan a lot and be exhausted like you mentioned, when the driving is long and kid has a nap schedule. Wondering if staying here, will there be enough activities for 7 days and if not maybe taking tours nearby. Thanks!
Aloha! Do you know if the Hilton Waikiki Friday night Firework show had resumed yet? I’m a new subscriber and love your videos! I’ll be in Waikiki in just 10 days 😭♥️
I called them just a few days ago and they are still not sure when the fireworks will start again. I will be talking more about this tomorrow when I go live from Waikiki. Join us live 6pm est 3pm pst
Hi, Karen! Thank you so much! We hope you will have a wonderful vacation! As we are traveling you do not always have a good internet connection so we go live whenever we can.
In October, we will be vacationing in Ko Olina for 5 days and then staying the last 2 days in Waikiki. We need a rental since we will be seeing relatives all over the island. That rental this year is gonna be painful. 900 for the same mini van that was only 350 back in 2019.
So sad, my husband and I were supposed to go this Sunday- took the required covid test and mine came back positive. 😭 of course I’m happy I know and will stay home and quarantine but so sad we can’t go anymore. Devastated. Hopefully we can reschedule for just a few weeks or might have to go in July. Is it nice there in July? Or way too hot/ humid? Mahalo. I’ve been following you guys and you’ve made me so excited.
Congratulations on 10K. If you rent a car at a resort such as turtle Bay you wouldn't have to pay parking there since you rented it there I'm assuming is that correct?
Hi guys, I’m about to active my e-SIM. Just wondering if I’d better active it before departing or better arriving in HNL then use the airport wifi to active?
Just make sure you have enough time to use it (not too early so it does not expire). I would activate it at home the day before leaving just to make sure you know how to switch your sims.
Thank you so much, i watch all your videos. I had a dream of visiting Hawaii since i was 10 when i was i Iraq. I m 42 now and the dream will become true by the end of this month.
Great video I got a lot of help form this channel I went to Hawaii after getting this information and I was so happy and grateful. Thank you, so happy for you! Plz pin
I find it difficult to know how much something costs because the price keeps changing. So, I look at different options to see which one is cheapest. I book it without paying and keep looking for a better deal. If I find something better, I cancel the first booking and go for the better deal.
Did you rent a car when you came to Hawaii? Was it worth it?

Do they still have the same pros? How do they compare in price with turo? Thank you!
yes, it is still good. Turo you can find cheaper but the quality will depend on the host. Read reviews

Hi, Paul! Turtle Bay is going under major renovations, not sure what they will do next. But we will keep you updated!
What about free parking in Waikiki.???
Very few and far in between, street parking almost impossible to find so you have to park in a garage, hotel or Zoo

Would u recommend to rent biki bike? How do we park it if we have to stop to the stores?
There are a lot of Biki Stations all over Honolulu. Look at this map gobiki.org/map-of-biki-stops/ We use Biki everyday :)
Does Oahu have Uber or Lyft like transport from airport to hotel and Vice versa?
Yes. When we were there 2018 Uber wait time was about 30 minutes but is about an hour or so nowadays.
