Pronunciation of names like that is largely a regional thing here in the states. "Rodeo Drive" depends entirely on whether you're in Texas or California.
"Rodeo Drive" is a good example. Personally I pronounce Texarkana the way the narrator does, not the way he says it's pronounced in America. I'm American, maybe I pronounce it that way because I learned the word by reading it, not by hearing it.
Is it just me, or is there something very similar between the Texarkana Phantom and the Zodiac Killer, in that a Killer tracked people down in Lover's Lane's and then shot them.
Aaron Thomas there’s been plenty of speculation on the matter. The timeline gets a little tricky given the amount of time between the two and I think the best suspect on the zodiac case may not have been in the area at the time. Which has to be considered, as well as a different MO as far as taunting police etc.
I think you made the right choice. The American pronunciation would have clashed horribly with you wonderful accent. I've lived in Texas my whole life but would never expect someone to change their native speech pattern when saying the name of a city!👍❤️🤗
I'm an American and I had no idea it was pronounced "canna", rather than "cah-nah". To be honest, I didn't even know that Texarkana was a real city. I thought it was a name for the general region where Texas and Arkansas meet. Like how people refer to the sprawling area between Washington DC and Boston as "Bowash".
Nah texarkana was named after a drink back in the 1800s. And there was a ship named the texarkana some people say they named it after that. Idk tho I'm from texarkana but idk how they came up with the name
Nah, here in San Antonio, TX, we kinda like the way you Brits pronounce it. Very DIGNIFIED and my folks clearly remembered that incident and till today would always tell me not stay out at night despite the heavy police presence.
Thanks mate...for doing this one.... Have you ever seen the movie?. Just wanted to know if you are the guy who plays Zander on Days of our lives. Peace
Place names and proper names have different forms and pronunciations for different language and dialect. It is CORRECT grammar to pronounce names in the language that you speak in. Which means it is correct and proper to pronounce Texarkana as "TEX R KAHN NA" in British English. If you were speaking American English, then the proper pronunciation is "TEX R CAN NA". It is the same reason why in English we pronounce the French capitol city Paris, as "PAR RIS", but in French it is "PA REE". It's because of the ridiculous obsession with being politically correct that has made this a useless concern.
Wait a minute... And onlooker found a key that had been stomped into the ground 50 yards from the car? I'm assuming by "stomped into the ground", it means the killer basically inserted the key downward into the Earth, like he was putting it into an ignition, and then stomped it to force it the rest of the way down into the ground. What are the chances that a random person walking around that scene could spot something like that? Do we have any additional information about this 'onlooker'?
Wow this is the second time I have had to filter this story. Lol my family's lived just outside Texarkana since 1830. I can tell you everything about this. Believe it or not there's lots of lies. Just say it right. It's kana. I'm from the woods. Retired nurse and first responder. Lol it's so funny to hear you tell the story. Lol
lol. - there are USA. Americans that can't pronounce Arkansas or Texarkana. You merely pronounce it with a British accent. ToMAYto - ToMOTo Ya know, *we Americans actually - get that one right. lol* ...and, I specifically recall being taught that the *"H"* is silent - in "herbs" (you folks pronounce it like one would expect an American to - "?" No problem, I'm just curious what the original rule is.)
I don't care how you say Texarkana, just don't pronounce Mobile, Alabama "mobile" like capable of movement. Long O for Mob and then eel like the fish. MO-beel. Just in case you ever should need that info, you have it!
As a native Texan, let me assure you that there’s no need to apologize. Your accent is charming and entirely delightful! Thanks for all you do. ❤️
I'm from Texarkana Texas, You said Texarkana beautifully and you did make the right decision on whether or not to use your English accent, Good Job,
Thanks so much, as a native I'm glad it wasn't nails on a chalk board for you!
It was really sweet to hear your voice naturally at the beginning, without the filter of a reading voice. Quite charming :)
Oh, so kind thank you! Sometimes my reading voice even puts me to sleep tbh... lol
Your Wholehearted laugh at the end of your intro was very endearing.
Entertaining as always
Keep up the great work my dude, thanks for the shout out 💓
Pleasure! Thanks so much for the kind support!
As a resident of T-Town, love this.

DBen's Drawin' Vids the correct pronunciation of Names and Titles is up to the speaker. Its that simple.
Great - reference ...

It's quite possible the Zodiac killer was inspired by the Texarkana murders.
Psychopath - and higher functioning Sociopath - traits.
You're correct.
Could be the same guy. Happened about 25 years apart. If he was in his 20s when he done the texarkana murders it wouldn't be impossible

Ha, thanks, I was a bit worried it would just grate away every time I said it with my daft accent!
Oh, I don't know, a lot of the ladies who listen think your accent is sexy, ;-)
I agree, and I'm a sixty plus year old grandma!
Thanks mate...for doing this one.... Have you ever seen the movie?. Just wanted to know if you are the guy who plays Zander on Days of our lives. Peace
As an American and Texan if it sound weird it's the accent but I don't think you're saying it wrong.
P.S. I love the way you all say aluminium.

He was called the phantom killer.

I was thinking of like a keyring with several keys on it with some dust kicked over it. Not literally stomped into the ground.
Good stuff :)
So which is it? A 38 or a .32? Because they are not the same caliber and, yet, first 2 were killed with a .38 and the second 2 with .32.
Hes used a 32 and a 22 idk where they came up with a 38

Actually in t still is mighty crooked.
It was called little Chicago! Back in the 30s and 40s. This place was crooked as a rattle snake!!! Lol
Yeah some people still call it that lol
I have no opinion on how you say tornado.
Remember the Oldsmobile Tornado back in the day? Great car btw. Pronounced "tore-nah-doh" as opposed to "tore-nay-doh".
Deary me wipe ya mouth mate
Valuable input, thanks.
