    Jeff! I just had to reach out and let you know your the best! I'm closing in on 64, and with your help I am getting those active agers going, as I am now a Senior Exercise Specialist. ACE was a more challenging route to go, but with the seniors their curriculum is pretty much spot on,. Thanks for getting me through that exam. One of my favorite group exerciser turned 100 years old today, my average is 86 . Thanks Amanda! It’s always good to hear that our content is helping! We use the FMS movement screen which comes with its own scoring system.

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks! I appreciate the support! Our workout chart doesn’t include cardio but you could certainly write it in at the bottom or top as both have open spaces.
      We have a spot where we track that separately in my business. That being said, most of our clients are general population clients who are focused on weight loss. We find that with cardio, we don’t have to track things as closely as we would with resistance training. Getting them to do the cardio, and just be consistent with it is the key!

    Hey man, these videos are golden! Would you have clients track their own workouts when they aren't training with you, if you only saw them once a week for example? Or do you just track the sessions they do with you?

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks! Glad that you’re finding them helpful! For in person clients it’s pretty rare that they’d actually be willing to track their workouts outside of the sessions themselves. I’ll still try to get a general idea of what these clients are doing on the workouts that they’re doing on their own. For clients who come in once week often times I’ll create basic routines for them to do outside of sessions but it definitely depends on the client.

  • @AShipley

    Thanks for the video! I’m a new trainer and a bit flummoxed by programming. I love the chart, but am curious about a few things. (1) why start out doing deadlifts week 1 and never doing them week 2 or 3? DL can be a hard exercise to do well. Was something observed in the clients movement that warranted a shift to band walks and thrusts? I see the latter two as good movement prep for the DL or SQ, which are optimal movements. (2) Are the exercises ordered in a certain way? I could see it being organized in the most compound movement at the top of the list then listed in a manner where the movement is broken down into exercises that would ultimately help achieve that optimal goal. I can see this breakdown in the leg list with SQ and DL at the top. But the push and pull lists less so. Perhaps because I see the push-up as more optimal than the bench press? Curious what your thoughts are on that. (2) Would you expect exercises on the chart as a linear progression? Does it mean I’d coach my client to do all legs first then push exercises then pulls? (3) what are your thoughts on pairing agonists together - LBP then UBP then LBA with UBA? I’ve heard it increases blood flow and improves movement that way. Doing pushes before pulls seems odd since pulls should take priority over push movements. Sorry for the long comment but I’m trying to understand it all - especially the client workouts that I inherited. Thanks.

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  3 роки тому +3

      Thanks for the support! I really appreciate it! You could certainly do deadlifts for multiple sessions in a row. This was just meant to be an example, not necessarily how you should always program.
      Band walks and thrusts are just good overall moves that should be done by almost all clients. In this example nothing warranted a shift, but there is no reason to not include those moves.
      The exercises are not ordered in any specific way. The chart is just meant to show your clients progress and previous workouts easily. This video in general is more about understanding the chart rather than programming. We have other videos that cover programming. I would not say that the push-up is more optimal than the bench press, but then again that would depend on the specific client.
      To your questions at the bottom, you can do the exercises in any order that you think would work best for your client. You should typically do compound moves first, but It will be different for everyone. The order that the exercises are in on the chart has no effect on the order that you should complete them in. I think pairing exercises like you listed could work well. Tbh there are many ways that could work just as well. This is one of those things that totally depends on your specific client.

    Love your videos! I am a new PT and I am so nervous about going out on my own. I am a little confused about one thing. If you have a client that comes in once a week, on the same day every week - do you need to be changing up their workout? I am confused about this because I thought that during each phase (6 weeks) your client sticks to the same workouts, and they change in their next phase. So that their body can have time to adapt to the workout etc

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  2 роки тому

      Thanks for your support!
      Within the phase you are doing similar reps/sets and exercises but the workouts your clients are doing should be different each time.
      So, if you have a client coming in once per week, their workout should look different each time while staying within the same phase.
      That being said, Clients that come in once a week are sometimes different too as they are often working on things on their own outside of their training session which might impact what you’re working on with them.

We are now learning that IT is helping workflows to be easier, quicker and more convenient. What am trying to bring is, have you thought of maybe an app to have this form? I really don't know if am making sense...

      Thanks I appreciate that! We still manage to fit all of that in the box or sometimes we’ll write it in an adjacent box and write a note. It can get a little cramped but it’s the best solution we’ve found.

  • @50plustraining82
    @50plustraining82 2 роки тому

    Hi Jeff, Thank you for the chart. The only challenge is it prints very small, not much room to add anything.Is there anyway to print a larger version? Thanks

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  2 роки тому

      When downloading and printing, you can try adjusting the settings so that it reduces the margins on the sides or fills the full page.
      Many printers have different default settings so you might have to play with it a bit to get it right for you. We usually hit “fit to page” and it prints them the correct size.
      The boxes aren’t that large, but they are big enough for weights/reps/sets and abbreviations if needed. If we need extra room, sometimes we’ll use the extra empty boxes or just make notes above or below.

    Hey this was a great video..I do have a question how do you know when your client is able to move up in weight ? Do you wait until she can complete the sets flawlessly or do you slightly move up in weight weekly regardless ..I know that sounds bad because you don't want to injure your client. But some need that extra push or get lazy. Which can slow down progress and you want to make sure your creating muscle confusion.

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  3 роки тому +2

      I think that before moving up in weight your clients form should be as close to perfect as possible. If you think they’re form, or lack thereof could lead to injury in anyway don’t increase their weight yet. I also always ask them “does that feel easy, medium, or hard?” and will adjust weight up if it’s easy/medium and their form looks good.

    Hi Jeff - I watched your video on programming - supersets, tri-sets and circuit. You expressed the "sweet spot" in programming as between superset and triset. Which did you choose to use in the video? I counted 10 exercises plus a metabolic. Do you superset or tri-set these, then do the metabolic as a finisher?
    Thank you for your input!

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
