- What an exciting day this is!
Due to many reasons (COVID lockdowns, the world turning upside-down, writing a book, raising 2 boys and well…life!) it has been over a year since I shared a Tea with Jules episode with you all. Late last year I felt the time was right to boil the kettle again and invite people into my home to have honest, heartfelt conversations about life, love and career.
My first guest is my dear friend Sam Moran. He has been a children’s entertainer for 22 years, bringing joy and fun to our homes via his show ‘Play Along with Sam’ and his time as the yellow Wiggle.
What I love about this chat with Sam is his openness about all the stages and phases of his life so far. He talks about the power of letting things go, how smart kids really are and the level of sincerity they need from their entertainers. Sam also, opens up about his relationship with depression over the years and how important it is to deal with the ‘meh’ feeling that can creep in slowly.
I can’t tell you how much I learn about people and about myself through these conversations. It’s not just sharing tea, it’s a ceremony of exchange - human to human. I love that we are back in the Tea with Jules saddle and that we get to experience this together.

Damn I never realized how much Sam suffered. I grew up with the OG wiggles and came back to the wiggles for my daughter when Emma and the new wiggles were in. So I missed the whole Sam chapter and had no idea who he was. Poor dude. They did him dirty and I’m so glad he bounced back so gracefully. I got teary with him hearing his story of what happened.
I think around 2010, creative differences happened between Sam & Anthony. This is because Sam did some occasional solo performances and even released his 1st solo album. Anthony believed that he was leaving and took it the wrong way. Because of that, Anthony had plans for Simon to replace Sam. Sam went from being the lead singer to fading into the background, while Simon started to sing more than Sam. Sam said that he wasn't done being part of the band and wanted to continue on for however many years he wanted to go on. Then, unfortunately, he only found out the day before it was announced that Greg was returning temporarily to replace him to help transition from him to Simon. So, there was a lot of miscommunication during that situation.
Sam is one of the finest musicians the Wiggles have ever had the honour of working with. If I did not know he was a singer, by the timbre of his speaking voice alone I would wish to hear him sing! What a gifted and humble man! Blessings, Sam!

I’ve got a lot of respect for Sam for carrying the band for 5 years after Greg’s departure. I've also got to say that he's very humble and he has a certain charisma to him all throughout this interview. It was a great watch and it was nice hearing about how he's doin’ these days.

@@brodjefferson3513 In the sense that they needed a new vocalist, which was Sam, who was formerly the understudy of Greg, he sure did carry them.

@@brodjefferson3513he did for the length of time he was there for them when Greg was sick he stepped in, he was asked to take over when Greg retired and was then done dirty. It could have been handled better than it was.
@@darthilli No he didn't, the other 3 Wiggles carried Sam. He apparently wrote around 2 songs the whole time he was in the band.
My favorite Wiggle EVER! We watch it's Always Christmas with you every Christmas. Just love Sam.

Sam is a legend. He was a great understudy, a great Wiggly Dancer, a great Manzilla, a great Wiggle for 5-6 years (I saw him on his first tour as the yellow Wiggle officially) and a great person period. He was, is, and always will be a vital part to the Wiggles' success 👍💛😃🎤
Respect, I always loved Sam. Still do! He did an amazing part & yes it’s a shame he deserved better but I’m glad he’s doing better.
Did you know that Sam was with the Wiggles since 1998 ish. He made is 1st appearance on Go Captain Go video. He has Done Everything from being a Wiggly Dancer, a Main Character and even a Background Artist for the Wiggles. I only knew when Sam was understudying from The take on the World Documentary when the Wiggles were in The USA. Greg's mum passed on so he went home to visit family and grieve with them. That's when Sam Stepped up to Take on the Yellow wiggle role.
I was watching the Wiggles since 2011ish. I started with the Sam Era + the 3 originals . I only knew about the new Wiggles and Greg much later on. They only showed the Wiggle and Learn series on our side of the world. I can say that Samuel Moran was the 1st yellow wiggle that I knew. His Era lead to me finding out about the Wiggles. Thanks Sam🙏🙏

He reminds me a lot of a young Michael J Fox, even right down to the handsome but endearingly dorky/nerdy appeal of himself as a person. He is a cutie I have to admit! (I also got some Chris Cornell vibes from him).

Sam was the yellow wiggle filling in for Greg from 2007-2011
Sam didn't only fill in Greg. I think you meant to say that he replaced Greg from 2006 until January 2012. Sam, including Brett Clarke and Ryan DeSaulnier, was Greg's understudy from 2002 until 2006 when Greg's condition orthostatic intolerance got worse over time.

I first saw Sam in 'wiggles getting strong', and I got really excited to see a new yellow wiggle in the wiggles. At first, I was really happy to see Greg as a singer and the leader of the wiggles. Then Sam, new the leader with a better singing voice, replaced Greg, and I was so happy to see Murray, Jeff, Anthony and Sam preforming together in wiggly shows. It makes the wiggle shows with Sam, ever more porpular to me.
He was too good for the wiggles.

I can remember see Sam in here comes the big red car 2006 when his stomach was big then when he was the yellow wiggle we was in good shape but now 9 Year’s later after he left the wiggles he put the weight back on with is no reason to judge him

@@eljordinio7647 Do you know why I believed that he hated me and thought that I was stupid? It was because of something that I said about him when I was 15 years old. When I was 15 years old, I found out that he has tattoos and I said that he's such an evil person simply for having them. When I told him about this, he completely forgave me.

Please stop implying that Greg rocked up and demanded his old job back and caused Sam to lose his. That’s not what happened at all. There are villains in this story, but definitely NOT Greg.
But who was the true villain? The management team, the other band members (while Sam was there)
@@halwiseman9420 Sam was going to get replaced regardless. It had nothing to do with Greg. They didn’t fire Sam to bring Greg back, Sam was always going to get removed from the group and The Wiggles asked Greg to come back while they sorted out his replacement (Simon). So they should stop suggesting that Greg becoming healthy again forced Sam out of the group, when Sam was going to get replaced regardless of Greg coming back.
Ok I get that; but if Sam's departure was handled better, why hasn’t the band acknowledged his existence in the group for the past nine years. I mean they talk about the OGs non-stop, but Sam. Sounds sketchy?
Sam is the original Aunt Viv (prior to the FP reunion) of the Wiggles. (highly respected sometimes in the community, but disregard by the cast)

@@wendygala3339 No they didn’t you idiot, they fired Sam so Simon could take over, and got Greg to fill in in the interim. Maybe educated yourself next time you speak
