1st Gen products will always be crazy expensive. Huawei was bold enough to be the first to move into the Tri-Fold category. We are currently at the point where cell phone designs are getting boring, regardless if it comes out with the latest & greatest in hardware and software. How I miss the times when Nokia used to be the company that played around with various designs and kept people looking for their minds to be blown be their next offering.
You can watch 3D without 3D glasses on that phone, try it. Never seen any reviewer try it even though this is the first and only phone ever that can do that.

For games and apps with pretty deliberately laid out menus/buttons, the squarish ratio is awkward. So having the phone unfold to a more standard 'tablet ratio' is really appealing. I do find the square to be fine for things where it's just a bunch of free flowing graphics/text (reading/maps/zooming in on pictures/etc)

Would be great travelling watching movies with no need for a tablet. I have the V3 honor magic ,software is now very good after recent update. Switched from fold 5 and very pleased. Wouldn't buy Huawei though with proper Google support.
