Thanks for letting me know about your experience with hardware processors! It's great that we're both passionate about audio engineering, even if we approach it slightly differently. I totally understand the appeal of working with dedicated hardware units for things like EQ, compression, reverb, etc. The tactile controls and analog warmth they can provide are hard to beat. At the same time, I've found VST plugins to be an incredibly versatile and cost-effective solution for my needs. The ability to run multiple instances of high-quality digital processors on my DAW without cluttering up my studio space is a huge plus. And with new plugins constantly being developed, I have access to an ever-expanding array of unique effects and processors. That said, I'm definitely not opposed to incorporating hardware into my setup down the line. A few choice analog pieces could nicely complement my VST-based workflow. I may even take you up on your expertise to recommend some worthwhile hardware investments. In the meantime, I'm stoked to hear about the hardware you're using and the results you're getting. Don't hesitate to hit me up if you ever want to discuss VST plugins or just nerd out about all things audio! Collaboration and sharing knowledge is what it's all about. Cheers! Alex
Im a Reason user and I find that the better the sound selection and EQ of each element and the right mix and stereo panning can get a similar sound to hardware and get so nere to it that its actually almost impossible to tell the difference. I think gear has the ability to enhance a sounds dynamic range and as a result make it sound good when being processed. I follow successful people who say gear makes all the difference but I say anyone who dont understand the fundamentals on EQ there mix and master will sound trash regardless. Finally I have gone back to old productions from a time where My skill was lacking and the mixes are muddy and poor EQ VS My latest which sound way better. If I had gear now it would be assumed that My music is better because of that when in reality its got nothing to do with it, I just know more now.
Love to see those Gyraf pieces in there too. Nice room. Sounds better that it looks like it would. Aesthetically pleasing acoustic treatment IS possible!
So, just in case there's anyone else out here that was watching this and instantly thought "oh wow, what kind of console is that?" You're in luck. It took me a while to dig it up, but I actually had seen this exact mix room months ago whilst looking for a new studio desk. The company that made this beauty in this video is "Northward Systems". Just thought I'd save someone the hassle of having to sleuth around to find this.
Big fan of your work. Amazing mastering chain and desk (made by?). I'm actually very interested to get your take on the Gyraf G24 compressor. Seems like a really different and flexible unit.
MBT owner here. I wish I can hear what the color comp is supposed to do? Even the EQ? Im not a trained pro mind you so there is that. Im just an old guy with too much money. But heres what Im doing after a month. Im almost to the point of turning those off and just using the width and silk. But Im also working with really good master tracks so theres not much to be done at that point. If I try too much it starts to hurt the dynamics. So my best results have been just a touch on the width at the right HPF and dialing in that silk without over saturating it. So with that, to say 4K$ to just sprinkle a little extra on something thats already good has to be in the eye of the beholder. I say yes, because Im taking $20K master tracks and making them a little better.
MBP for left-brain precision control over dynamics, MBT for right-brain creative control over harmonic content. Either (or both) work great for any genre.
dat sontec doe, i see gyraf infundibulum too. jesus i'd love to hear this chain in person. this is pretty high praise for mbp/mbt considering the other stuff in there
The monitors are from a company called ATC, they are either the SCM50ASL Pro or the SCM100ASL Pro which are bigger still. Amazing looking speakers. I had also come to comments to figure out what it was but then I recognised the logo in the background
Rupert Neve, a much loved and respected brand some very successful people but it should be noted that no matter what people use, gear or software it still requires knowledge to EQ and mix.
This is the Neve channel. It is already forthcoming that it is marketing. Respected gear manufacture hires respected mastering engineer to talk about their gear. Pretty straightforward.
lol it’s about her work don’t care how she talk. If the product is good that’s all that matters. F the rest of the unnecessary shiii that’s just looking for some type of attention.
@@notesfromjmota5127Nah, you could pay someone else 1/4 her rate and get pretty much the same result. What you pay extra for is her convincing you that she's making your vocals "holographic." Creative people are suckers for that kind of woo woo.
? She speaks really well and articulates whats interesting about this gear in a really precise clear way. It's just the terminology used to describe different parts of audio signal processing
Are you serious? Have you seen her discography? Have you actually listened to her work? Or are you just sad because she's doing what you want to be doing for a living, and is generally more successful than you?
It's so amazing seeing former classmates from audio school rising to these heights! Go, Heba!
I'm a firm believer in Rupert Neve gear. Beautiful sound and quality. Thanks for this video. Analog is where it's at.

Love Heba’s work! Been wanting to meet her and talk shop for years! Aywa ya Masr!

Thank you for this video. I would LOVE to take a masterclass from Heba if there was one available!
Dream studio with amazing gear!
It’s legendary. And you get back exactly what you expect!

who made that desk and side car racks ,they look mid century modern ? thanks
The room was designed by Sondhus, but the desk is actually from Northward Systems: northward-systems.com

Having Rupert Neve Designs gears is having “Sound Maturity”.
lmao
Waiting and saving up for the MB542 😉
Why don’t you buy my 500 series ones. I don’t like them. I do like the MBT tho
@@michaelgutter2004 I actually go for Wes audio gear. That’s what I have most of
For thrashy fast metal: MBP or MBT? I'm getting one of the two in the next couple of months.

I wonder what Josh thinks of this piece
Was hoping to see a demonstration of this from her in this video
Can I suggest a vst3 plugin. Xln audio rc 20. For those people who have a small home studio. I give it 9 out of 10.
sorry my budget only allows for MBT. rc20 will have to wait until next year
❤
Surprisingly little treatment in that room
It’s embedded beneath the wall fabric
@@xGIJewx correct! Read about it here: www.sondhus.com/projects/heba-kadry-mastering
That was my first tought but then like.... No way that she is doing mastering if the room isn't treated so I presume that everything is hidden...
Yea go read. Literally look at windows and glass angled to beef up what she said was not an ideal space, just to block out the sound of BK.
Hi Heba! Nice seeing you thrive! Did you ever build a modular into an accordion case?😂😂😂
How can you master in that room… it’s impressive because it looks like there is no room treatment…
The treatment is embedded behind the fabric on the walls and ceiling: www.sondhus.com/projects/heba-kadry-mastering
Very cool❤
Nice deep dive!!! If someone wants to send me this gear please do!!!
was she given the product?

Audio examples to proove your point with 75% less talking please😅
So, it’s an audio processor, but al yo do in this video is talking. Ok 👍
Requires ballistics tbh. The leds are basically useless indicators.
