Moreton Bay Snapper, Big Schools in the Shallows

- Corey and I started off early, landing a couple good fish before the cameras even started rolling in pitch black darkness. The bites came thick and fast the moment the sun started coming up, very average sized fish, but still great fun on the finesse gear. Unfortunately the first school of fish was spoiled by boat noise, so we had to move on. A bit further away we found big schools of snapper, still no size to them, but lots of fun picking them off using sidescan. Another move, a couple more fish and we decided to shoot out wider. After a couple decent little snapper in 20m+ I finally hooked the big one I was looking for, a short fight with locked drag ensued, and I was pipped by bad luck at the death, that’s fishing.

hey mate what sounder are you using? seems like sidescan is the key to finding fish :)!
In shallow water it is, not going to find snapper in 2m anywhere near the boat.
In this video I was running a humminbird Helix G4.
But I’ve just made the switch to a Garmin echomap 125SV.
Both have great sidescan.
