Nice one. I was out about 50-75 metres off of Scarborough beach on the yak last weekend. Got a 70cm grunter that I thought for sure was a snapper. Got him in and was like wtf. Best fight I've had for so very long. The lads around me pulled in some small tuna and big tailor too. Was prob the best day fishing lately up there.
Morning Josh, another good video, i have caught grunter in the Bribie passage before but never went out to CATCH the SUPER SIZE models do they have a time of the year that you would prefer to chase them?, i did see a bloke catch one off the rocks at Pelican Park one morning he was in that 60cm, size very nice fish land based . OK buddy keep them coming. Cheers Chris.
Definitely worked well for us through the start of autumn as all those prawns are coming out into the bay. The fish just know what’s going on and school up for that reason. Everything works around the bait cycles and the structure of the reefs just gives those predators a point to ambush them.
Great stuff mate, grunter are one of those fish that you don’t see targeted or talked about down this way very often. So it was cool to see you getting a few and you’ve inspired me to go chase some of those line burners one day 😂🙌 definitely keen to taste them too and see what all the hype is about!!
Oh man I’m addicted myself. Definitely worth targeting, I just wish they weren’t so seasonal 😅 tasted great too. Been many years since I’ve gotten a feed of them
I used to catch good size ones when I was a kid up in Cairns and down around Cardwell too. But it’s been years since I’ve caught a decent one down here. 😅 They’re so fun though hey.
Back in the 70s and 80s when we used to do our annual trip to Brissy we used to go to the fishing sections of kmart and target and the like, and the tackle on offer was pathetic we never dreamed you could get giant Threadfin and Grunter in Brisbane, and I'm guessing most of the Brissy population thought the same.
Love it mate , number 1 eating fish in my books , my biggest is 80cm, picture on my first ever video 🤙,good work drop a big bait next time ,like a red bait , you'll up grade straight away 💯 works for me
😂😂 i used to fush the coochin was flicking berk shads pulling heaps of grunters one day but all like just under, a god dam sea eagle splashed into where i was casting and grabbed hold of a 50+ , if that wasn't enough the asshole sea eagle did a turn in the air and flew it right beside my tinne so i could get another look at what he got dam it🙄 true story 😢
@@BrisVegasFishing dude i froze like a deer in a spotlight with my jaw dropped, i just started up and went up creek for lizards after that, crazy what you see when your on your own about 12 year ago i never had no camera phone back then lol, seen a New Zealand seal there too, nobody believed me until there was a front page pic of it in the suncoast daily of it basking at Caloundra on the rocks 🙄
You get a like coz i'm from Ipswich as well... will keep an eye out for you on the water. Good vid.

Great video josh awesome size grunter,Good to see Redcliffe in the back ground .
Thanks mate. It was an awesome back drop and I was surprised at how well it fished. Also surprised that I could find the fish so quickly 😅

Sic little session mate👌
Thanks mate. Definitely can’t complain 🤙
I had never heard of a barred grunter until about 7 years ago when I caught one where I lived at coochin Creek.

Amazing how the times change hey 😂 when I first moved down here there were whispers of threadys but never would’ve thought they’d be so plentiful.
Nice video grunter are good eating 😀
Thanks mate. They’re a bloody tasty fish aye 🤤👌
When I was up in Mackay a few years back people said they kept these and threw barra back. Tried it and definitely the case
@@shole01 oh definitely better tasting than the old barramundi for sure 😮💨
Good stuff mate! Were they pretty scattered or do they school up pretty heavy?
Pretty spread out grazing, not a tightly packed school or anything mate.
I enjoyed that. Wonder why they don’t come down the southern bay in numbers?
I think they do at times, but I can’t say I’ve ever seen any large models down southern bay. Furtherest down the bay I’ve seen them is mud island. 🤔
What depth of water eere you in please?
I think it was like 4-5 metres from memory mate

That’s a proper dinosaur mate 😮💨👌 I’ve definitely got some upgrading to do myself. Thanks for the tips mate 🤙
I thought it was just me with the crush city. Never used it again.
Yeah, they work and I keep persisting with them but it’s damn annoying.

Hahahaha no way 😂 that’s intense. Should’ve held the landing net to try and spook him into dropping it 😂
