Unreal!!! I expected to see the flood already in progress, not making it's way down the river channel. Job well done by this crew. And absolutely incredible, the raw power of Nature!
You can see how people are killed by floods like this - the water is so violent, and it arrives so suddenly, that hikers get swept away and drowned regularly. Often, victims have jumped in to try to save others, and both die.
I've been caught in a flash flood (I live in the desert) while I was driving. It is fucking terrifying to see a raging river come towards you. As I drive, water completely covered my car in waves. Luckily I made it safely yo higher ground and waited it out for 3 hours!
_This_ is what they mean by "flash flood"! One second, the water is flowing along in the stream bed at a normal pace; the next, it's the proverbial wall of water and debris smashing its way down the channel catching anything and anyone who isn't paying attention and keeping an escape route at hand.
On the other side of Maui the West Maui Mountains receive 425in. of rain per. year. A 150yrs. ago before the loggoing industries de-forested the Westside, the average rainfall were 515in.per year. Less rainforest less rain.
are these waterfalls (the group of 4 that spill into the ocean) along the hike? It seems super dangerous if the trail is so close but that would be stunning to see. We go in a week!
Probably 7 pools? It’s AMAZING! N yes each pool flows into the ocean......Gotta pay attention to the weather! Hana is always raining n is heaven on earth! Hope u had a nice trip! Maui no Ka oi....aloha🤙🏽🌸🌸🌸🌺
this what happened iao valley when homes was damaged. and this is why never go in the river when the river is calm cause what you ssee comming down from the top of the mountain is what drowns you

If you are on the rocks at 1:30, you can feel and see death visiting you.
kudos to the pilot driving that whirlybird too:)
Just goes to show why water is one of the most powerful forces on the planet.
It’s like an avalanche of water. That’s the type of video they should show to tourists.

The flooding is intense and creeps down so fast!! 😨😨
OK. Now I understand what flash flood is.
I hope it doesn't rain this much next month while I'm there visiting. 😨
You can hear the water's roar over the helicopter. Scary.
What's the location of the area with multiple falls?

SO COOL (but also terrifying lol)
think how many things you could find with a metal detector after all this rain, from the mountain wish i could go there and do that
as long as it rains... get the hell out
Terrific video but where is the road? Looks more like an existing river bed not an actual road as per the title of the vid. Thanks for sharing
