I know this won’t apply to everyone but the struggle to find great photo spots is real. I figured it was time to share some of my favorites. I hope you guys get some great shots.
Ed...thanks for the Atlanta photo spot tips as i live about 45 min from downtown ATL. Question...do you have some fave places in Georgia (other than downtown) to photoshoot? I like the photos ive seen from your home :)
Hey man love the way you guys make videos keep up the good work!
Ed Bolian this is a video i’ve been looking for for a while
Hello from Alpharetta! Best spot for pics is Mountain Crossings up in Suches. Basically because when you get there, you've just enjoyed some of the best curves anywhere in Georgia.
My favorite place is in the ghetto. Kind of a beauty and the beast type of deal.
The 7 dislikes are all security guards at these locations
The parking deck at the 915 apartments in midtown has the best parking deck to get a good shot with the city background.
Agreed. Looks fabulous.
Can you just drive into the parking deck? Or would you have to know someone to drive in?
The Atlanta shot with the arena is my favorite
Ed makes me want to visit Atlanta real bad.
There's a lot of garbage here, places you stop and instantly you don't feel safe, but the places that are good, damn they are fantastic
You should! There’s four very cute pandas at the zoo.
Will i ever go to Atlanta, maybe. Will I ever take my car there, no. Did I watch Ed tella vinwiki story, yes.
Atlanta is a blast. I would suggest making a weekend trip there in the future if possible
@@Aaron-jj6on I wanted to, but I'm originally Canadian and will be down under for 4 years. Maybe when I'm back in NA
Ed should record an audiobook of these vinwiki stories
I just happen to pause it at 8:51 and Ed looks like the "Dat Ass" Meme😂😂😂
I'm very much into the retrowave/cyberpunk aesthetics, so old neon lights are always good spots for me. Also, taking pictures at seemingly mundane places in working hours, like store parking lots at daytime, it can capture that emotional connection you have with your car when you look back at it to "make sure it's locked."
I live in Tennessee and am not terribly far from the Tail of the Dragon. I want to experience it, but not in my Pacifica! I am deep into photography. It's a drug in itself. Just more rewarding than the decade I spent as a junkie. Lol
Good on you
@@4.6slidez Thanks. Mushrooms, photography, firearms, etc have taken over.
Focal.ecstasy.photography on IG.
congrats on your change of drug lol
Just find a friend with a decent car and take a day trip!
@@paisis123 lol. I've lived in TN 3 years or so now and I know a total of maybe 5 people here. None with cars anymore exciting than mine lol. Great idea though.
Another video with Larry explaining some of these shots, shutter speeds, lighting techniques would be very interesting. I bet you’d be surprised how many guys that have nice cars also have nice cameras. Do it, do it!
Great suggestion!
Another great spot for street level shots is near the high museum also the skull at the vortex bar
I’ve been waiting for this video for years. Thanks, Ed.
Blood Mountain is amazing and has banked curves! I moved to WNC from Florida as a kid and was blessed to grow up on some of the best driving roads in the country. Some photo spots up here are amazing too. Thanks Ed.
Chicago has a super famous spot downtown at the whole foods and you get the entire skyline in the fram.
That and the planetarium
I've done it a couple of times but you have to do it QUICKLY. There are a couple of switchback curves on Trail of the Dragon that will make not just make the car look aggressive but will also make the background look amazing.
There's a lookout pull off just north of the Mt Mitchell State Park on the Blue Ridge parkway that made my cars look incredible. The way the colors shine amidst a dark and menacing (and also dead) tree behind them. It's an amazing background.
I like these types of videos. Good info.
One one week in my town and the suspension on all those cars would be destroyed.
Literally
@@4.6slidez no not at all these cars suspension can handle alot of abuse it's more about scraping or the possibility of damaging wheels on Sharp bumps
Johnny CR look ytyh
I know what i'm doing this weekend! Thanks Ed!
I'm going after I get of work
Nice. Thanks for the tip. Will definitely visit Atlanta soon.
As an Atlanta photographer, having some of your car spots exposed kind of sucks, but it’s also good for new people to the craft. So its 50/50. If you want to find unique locations and have the camera built to handle high ISO, check out some industrial areas throughout the Atlanta area at night.
Those are some awesome shots. Great idea to share the wealth!
My favorite spot is the hard rock casino parking garage. Top floor has a beautiful view of the strip with the Hard Rock lights reflecting off the car
Hi vinwiki, gotta love an ed bolian video
For anyone in St. Louis just in front of the STL arch on the riverfront is a great shot and so is in front of the cardinals baseball stadium.
Was just thinking about this! Just across the river, right at sunset would be perfect. My father is a hobbiest photographer in the saint louis area, we take pictures from across the river all the time but I never even thought about getting cars out there
Finally early to a vinwiki video. I know I might not get noticed but I want to let you guys know, I'm a huge fan of the channel and am inspired by the stuff you all do.
Thanks for being early!
Always looking for some nice photo spots around Long Island NY.
Whenever I'm out in Grays Harbor County in Washington State, you can drive up to the Satsop Nuclear Towers and the Industrial Park up there that's 99.9% abandoned with only a few businesses there. Hardly ever see cars up there, so not only a nice drive up to the towers, but you can also get some really amazing shots of the towers in your photos with no security to bug you. Taking shots at almost dusk up there with the trees, the lights on the towers themselves and in the car park is pretty unique. Definitely worth checkin out if you're ever in the area :-D
Larry has some skilzzzz
I definitely have a top 5 spots in New England
Care to share them?
VINwiki sure
I live in downstate IL in the city of Decatur, so I have access to that city, and a few other cities like Springfield (the capital) Champaign-Urbana (where University of IL is) within an hour’s drive from my house.
In Springfield, there’s one great spot in the cemetery where Abraham Lincoln is buried. There’s a tree and a light in front of his statue. Parking under the tree with the sun rising in the East is SPECTACULAR!
Also, I love taking pictures of my car in front of the Headquarters Building on Camp Lincoln, where the Headquarters of the IL Army National Guard is located. It takes some finagling, but even a quick shot with a camera phone turns out well.
In Champaign, there’s a parking lot just off the center of the University campus that gives a nice backdrop of campus.
In Decatur, there’s a restaurant called Franks Chicago Grill that is on a street that has a railroad bridge. The street goes East-west, so getting a sunset photo under that bridge usually yields good results when traffic is light.
Taylorsville Utah: Vista Park. Take the picture in the evening facing east. The Wasatch mountains are lit up with orange glow. The parking lot is higher than the field behind by a significant amount so it’s just car + mountains. Best time of year is November to March when there’s snowpack on the mountains. (40.6594516, -111.9470717)
You have a very short window of glow. Too early and it’s washed out. Too late and mountains are in shadow.
When I visited ATL a few years back I took some great skyline shots from the Olympic Centurion Park. You can get the big ferris wheel in the shot.
Was I the only one hoping Randy Pobst was going to be storytelling again today?
I love listening to all the stores here, but Ed, I could listen to your voice all MFing day :P
Thank you for this video literally asked you a while ago where are some nice places to take pics no reply lol but it’s all good video makes up for it
Sorry I didn’t respond sooner. I hope you enjoy these!
here is a lesson to the enthusiasts that got hemmed up this past weekend in the atlanta area. your police force was so stoked i receivd a google on it this morning and im in the middle of now where canada.stay safe and take care
Beautiful locations!
Being a truck owner, I like rural & wilderness(ish) areas.
I just hit all of these except the tunnel. I went underground on magnum st but It seemed the rest was blocked off
The 14th street deck is way cool. I went there on many occasions during my time at Tech
First Place: Love Blue Ridge Parkway for photos of cars. Second: Lots of spots along US 64 around Cashiers and Highlands, NC (better road than even The Dragon). Third: Sometimes urban areas - maybe even with street art in background of shots.
David Roddick hwy 107 and hw 28 and hwy 130 into South Carolina from 64 are good too. The road from Rosman NC to hwy 11 in sc is almost as good as it gets. I prefer these roads too the Dragon too.
We need a rabbit story or another repo story:) love your channel and you app Ed!
I'm from Dayton, Ohio where NCR originated. It was sad to see it move south. It was a huge part of Dayton History. I'm a machinist and model maker who learned so much from model makers that came from NCR in the 50s 60s and 1970s.
On the off chance that anyone is from Rhode Island or South Eastern Mass, I've found two great spots in Bristol, RI. One is right next to Roger Williams University under the Mt. Hope Bridge. It's a small turn around with a brick wall, but a piece of it is exposed to the bay and is framed by the Mt. Hope Bridge overhead. It looks great during the day, but even better at night when the bridge is lit up. The other spot is the boat launch at Colt State Park, also in Bristol. It's perfect to catch the colorful sunset reflecting off the water behind your car. No one usually parks there during sunset hours, so you get a clear shot across the water too.
As much as people may laugh, NJ is actually a great place to live for automotive photography. There are a variety of different backgrounds to choose from: the mountains in the northwest part of the state, rolling farmland in Hunterdon County, river scenes along the Delaware down most of the western coast, fertile pinelands in south Jersey and of course a great beach backdrop down the shore. The best part is that given NJ's diminutive size, you can travel from Wantage in the NW to Cape May down at the southern tip in +/-3 hours.
Hey what’s the thoughts on the Atlanta drag racing busts?
Sabine street bridge is a fan favorite here in Houston, I know a couple other ones too but not how to describe where/how to get to them!
the best shot of my current car so far is my driveway lol. but the easiest way to get a great pic of your car, and what ive always done at some point with all my cars, is to drive up and down the dragon and get a shot from killboy or us129 photos.
I don’t have to riot 😂 the tunnel shot will be used accordingly soon 😎
Ed, I Believe the Contest you're referring to for Fast and Furious 7 in the Tunnel is called "Chicken" as in, "Playing Chicken" from the older days.
Personally I like the look of nature backgrounds the best but the city shoots are nice too
Ed. I love that you live in my city it makes me feel close 😂
Hey Ed I also live in Atlanta. My favorite photo spot is the top of the Coca Cola HQ office parking deck. I am an employee at Coca Cola so I like to go to the top of there and take pictures on a sunny day.
I live in Atlanta I been to sum of this spots
Car pix!
So Close!
Hey back in the late 90s to buddy of mine bought a Daytona Spyder not a replica an actual spider and we drove it from West Palm Beach to Connecticut when we got to Atlanta he was a GT graduate so he wanted some pictures there we hit the varsity and then we did some low-angle shots in front of the Fox Theater also iconic landmarks but your photographer past 1 to get dirty but to this day his son has that picture of the Daytona Spyder at the fox I will try to get him to send me a copy of it and I'll forward it to you never was a fan of the yellow Ferrari Daytona but still a cool experience in my twenties I am loving the video sir keep up the good work by the way have you ever tried to get Mike Finnegan he doesn't live far from you and trust me I think he's got some stories
Without watching, I'm guessing 1) the overpass near Atlantic Station, and 2) top parking deck of the Varsity
Surely one of the top 5 is his garage. I know mine is.
I do love pics there!
Ed Bolian hells yes!
Downtown Memphis with M Bridge in the background
It's a menacing kinda batcave-looking shot...
*Casey Putsch wants to know your location*
😄
Ed take a photo shoot in zone 6!
Ed, I use a Canon Rebel EoS T7. Can you tell us what you shoot with, please?
I shoot with an iPhone. Larry has a much better camera!
@@VINwiki thanks.
Lol he referenced mountains in Georgia and did it with a straight face. Take ya lumps, Ed! :)
I never recognize anything from Fast & Furious because I don't watch that garbage. I watch other garbage.
What was the name of the vinwiki sponsor that has wheel damage protection plans? Looked back at several video descriptions and cant find it.

6:48 a picture of a guy taking a picture, in a UA-cam video. It’s inception
Hey ed you should do one for across the world
Ponca, Ar anything around Boxley Valley
Ed posted this 2 fucking days after I get back from my road trip to Atlanta 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Kirkwood tunnel under railroad
Surely nothing beats the good ol' gas station
The struggle is real..... 😎
Anyone know some good spots in Billings, MT?
You forgot about the freedom parkway bridge !
Best place to take a skyline shot but hard to frame in a car.
Also remember to pay the photographers in money not exposure. 🤗
I got kicked out of the public broadcasting video. They are pretty strict about people being
Up top
I was there for like 5 min, on my way down Police patrol car was going up. They didn't stop me or anything.
It's mangum street, not magnum St. I'm nitpicking, but I used to live on that street.
Really? Wow. My bad.
@@EdBolian no worries. Literally everyone makes that mistake
do this for california now
Well, Fuji Speedway is just about an hour drive... Can you think of a better backdrop?

Anybody can list their favorite spots in Columbus Ohio?
One thing that shouldn't have to be said, but there's always someone, please please please, don't go to these areas and rev to hear your shitty ebay muffler, squeal the tires, burnouts etc. Don't spoil it for everyone else!
BOSTON LOCATIONS please comment below, I need more spots in the RI/MA area
I actually just commented my two favorite ones in RI
Is it Larry Chen?
I live just north of gainsville ga. If you're ever in need of a passenger, im available 😏
top 5 hmm.... i wonder.....
Was expecting a big upturn from 90-day fiance, wrong ED
At least you aren’t a bulldog... Hopefully. Don’t disappoint Ed, go Gators!
MAN-gum street or MANG-um street
I have a crazy car story
Tell me !!!!!!!
@@koalafied7187 I'm a kid that owns a car I don't want to spoil it right now because I have not announced it on my channel yet and It will probably be a little bit until I do but I will give you a hint it is from 1976 (subscribe to my channel if you want it is 100% up to you

If you're in the pacific northwest, hit me up for your car images.. I haz spots

at the 6:29 mark you mentioned the NCR Building, one of my least favorite American companies in the US. They abandoned the City of Dayton "where they had been located for around 100 years I believe" by moving to Atlanta. Being a Photog I like the Video and love the Channel. P.S. my ex lives there and another reason to hate Atlanta.
anyone in here with good spots in Charlotte? 😂
I have a LIME GREEN AMC GREMLIN that needs SHOT 🧐
Ayyyeee
Ed bolian fact - his tears cure cancer. Too bad he has never cried.
Marta bus
Yeah, About this topic. You didn't bother to mention the 2 UA-camrs who had professional photos taken of their cars, tried to use the photos, got struck with copyright infringement for not paying to use said photos. So, you pay to have the photos taken... but you can't use them without paying the photographer for their use... Um, No Thanks!
That intro was a bit overwhelming
Atlantic station used to be nice. Used to be.
