That is unbearably cute omg 💛 Of course UA-cam recommends me this video while I'm trying to convince myself that pushing a patchwork skirt up my projects list is a bad idea with everything else I've got going on right now with actual deadlines XD
This whole video makes me so happy! I can’t get over how much I love your idea of continuing to patch this skirt throughout the years with more scrap fabrics from different projects! I desperately have so many scraps to get rid of and i feel so inspired from this!
I loved the thumbnail, and so did my mother in law. So much so, in fact, she asked me to forward the video to her. I love the idea of 1) a Goth patchwork, and 2) a forever skirt. 💛
I was just wandering how would a spooky patchwork dress look like after watching the patchwork overalls video over on The Stitchery - and then this gem came out! 🤣 Absolutely beautiful!
It looks so good! I love the idea to leave the raw edges to wear over time. I just finished making a patchwork jacket, its nice to see all the fabrics I have played with over my sewing journey.
I know the one thing all crafters have is a Large collection of things that we say we will use for some project down the line but never do. So congrats on using those scraps you had lying around. for myself i want to make a Tshirt quilt but i don't know how many Tshirts i really need before i start but i do have like 20 shirts i no longer use in a bag ready to go for when i make it. 💛
If you aren't filming like I was, just start it! What I did to make sure I had enough was lay out all the scraps (before they were cut down further) on the pattern peice and just eyeballed if that would be enough. Then I added an extra scrap just to be safe.
While I don't skirt often myself (kilts are skirts), this is a cool project. Now, you'll have plenty of little scrap for stuffing. Hooray reusing stuff! I know sometimes people have links for stuff they've used in sewing videos. I know it's not the product you have, but I found a jewelrymaking supply store in New Mexico that sells similar 4 inch safety pins called Thunderbird Supply Company.
💛 I am a total, total beginner at sewing (The only thing I have made thus far was a tulle tutu, which I cannot even find anymore, and I hand-sewed that.), but my dream is to make stuff that makes me just as happy as your garments make you. I have to get over my fear of sewing machines, and I have to learn a lot still... :) But I am completely willing to. So thank you for the inspiration!
Beautiful skirt!! Super cute fabrics. I love scraps. you never know what beautiful outfit they will turn into one day!! I wish mine were that cute though!! today I lengthened two old black jersey skirts with a ruffle.. made with the cutoffs of cropped t shirts or worn out tops and any other black stretchy fabric from my scraps bin... so those fabrics are saved from the trash pile! they were already very worn but now they have new life again! one of them is asymetric, the added ruffle makes the shape more interesting, and the other one now reaches ankle length so I can use them for layering under other skirts. it adds texture, the stretchy fabric is comfy, and the layers add warmth💛
I have been doing patchwork clothes lately with halloween fabrics. I have been doing squares or rectangles with a gathered skirt but I do love a circle skirt and I love your more random patchwork look. I need to try this soon!
I truly enjoyed watching this! It energizes me to sew a skirt for myself, or maybe even a dress. Using leftover fabrics from past projects just brings the joy from them into the new one!!! Thanks for the inspiration, you also inspired me to subscribe and I need to check out your past work. 💜💛
Your skirt is so cute! I may do something similar for my granddaughter, since I prefer to wear darker colours, but because I mostly make clothes for her, most of my scraps are brightly coloured. lol
SO FREAKING CUTE!!!!!love this so so so much!!!! love the story idea and love the idea of the continued evolution. just need to cut out the under layer to keep it from getting too heave. love the safety pin idea. could be fun to "accidentally" spill paint on it! NEW PROJECT SKIRT!!! also you tools are soooo cute!! i love tools and i love the coffin pin cushion!! BTW i'm new so HI!!!!💛👋💛😁💛
Lol HIIIIII!! The safety pins idea has been used already, I just pinned them to the pocket hem and use them when I notice a new hole 😁 pretty convenient and I'll always have safety pins on me!
Nice skirt. I love scrap busting videos! I wonder if I have enough black print fabric scraps to make a circle skirt..?.. sigh, like I need another project.
I think some came from joanns years and years ago, but most I actually found while thrifting. There's also been some garage sales that I found some of those at. Sorry it's not much help!
So I used a circle skirt calculator to make a pattern on wrapping paper, and then folded it in half to fit my work bench Here is the link to the calculator I used for my circle skirt pattern! www.omnicalculator.com/everyday-life/circle-skirt
You should save clothes with stains or rips for patches after this season. Use the new scraps for another patchwork project. Else there'd be faded and dark fabrics. I just feel it would look better if they are all new or all faded.
There is actually a square or two of an oldtshitr already on the skirt! Honestly the aging vs new fabrics could offer some interesting visual texture that I might like.
💛 Good piece
"Hmm, I kinda want that in black" - Every goth/goth adjacent ever
I say that too much honestly lol
I suddenly feel justified for the scraps that I save and I now know exactly what I'm doing with them! Absolutely lovely as always! 💛
I love the white stitching on the black fabric. Absolutely beautiful results and it will just get better with age as the edges fray.
That's a kilt pin! Your skirt turned out really cute.
That is unbearably cute omg 💛

Aww thanks! Glad you two liked it! 🖤💛
I love the idea that this is a history of your sewing adventures… you could do the same for a children’s blanket or quilt!❤
I was just wandering how would a spooky patchwork dress look like after watching the patchwork overalls video over on The Stitchery - and then this gem came out! 🤣

I had no clue she did a patchwork but I'm not surprised! Thanks! 🖤
@@CasketCreated It's also a very new video (2 days old I believe), I just happened to stumble into both of your works on the same day.

💛What a wonderful idea to use up leftover scraps!
Obsessed with the idea of a ship of theseus skirt

I think that was a kilt pin that you used for threading the elastic. Now I want one.
I have a few small ones I use until I decide on a closure for a skirt.
💛 such a cute skirt!
Oh I love the crazy quilt vibe!!! It's glorious 😍 💛
Yessss thanks!!

Thats awesome! Always a good feeling to be able to give old cloths a second life, and that it also works as a petticoat is fantastic!
Absolument très beau ! Quelle jupe unique ! Bravo pour cette belle idée ! 🇫🇷
