Just goes to show how scuffed the new player experience is in realm. The dude loaded the game, understood nothing, died and then quit forever. How many such cases are there I wonder. Man how differently things could have went for this game if it weren't like this.
I think that's a negative way to look at it, because there are other more difficult rogue type games, like Tarkov that has millions of players. You're not supposed to look at a game thinking you can't improve while playing it. There's a lot that they could do to make playing more lenient though like obtaining character slots, storage space with fame, etc.
played this game for 12 years now and still going strong. I love this game probably from the nostalgia but it really just scratches an itch that other games don't.
I love this game, 1.2k+ hours, but it took me 150 hours (spread across 5 years) to know how to get to the good stuff. Knowledge is power, and a new player will have no idea about anything.
Game was ruined around 12 years ago with the addition of pets. Before them, players grouped up with healers to complete dungeons and it was a slower and more collaborative game, but now it's completely unnecessary outside of the new player experience. Because long-time players will always have powerful pets, though, new players are left both without collaborative play and without the pets that enable solo playstyles, so the main way to play now is to zerg dungeons with massive groups.
Seeing you go in the old, outdated realm instead of the much better beta realm physically hurt me. This is a common thing i keep seeing new players do, and for me it's one of the worst problems of the new player experience. Just goes to show how much reworking and attention the early game experience needs. Deca should have moved these old realm portals away since the beta realms dropped.
Former rotmg addict here, NO YOU SHOULD NOT PLAY THIS GAME. It is horribly addictive and you will neglect your life playing this game. Please do not play this game. This is not sarcasm, the formula for this game is absolutely horrible for peoples mental health especially the development of young peoples brains.
Veteran player here. There are so many fun and positive aspects of the game, but I can’t for the life of me recommend it to a new player. The new player experience is just so terrible - it takes a huge time investment to amass enough knowledge and wealth to actually get to a point where one death won’t ruin everything you’ve worked for if you don’t have someone holding your hand the whole way through. I really wish this was better, since there genuinely is a special charm to the game and great challenging endgame content
You really want to have nexus either on R or somewhere you can twitch it on the mouse. It's really a great game but it will fuck you up and I can't imagine how terrible it must feel to jump in game as a newbie and not have any slots in anything.

Too late I just started getting good at the game and learned to do shatters o3 and basically every dungeon including umi
