- Did my kit built e-Bike hold up… or is it just a bunch of junk tacked onto a decent 1990s mountain bike? 6 months and 1000 miles later this has been my main form of transportation. Electric trend or is the future of transportation here….? Pros and Cons of eBikes and AW 1000 watt kit with 20 Ah Unit Pack Power Battery.

Im in my first 100 miles with my DIY ebike, and I have EXACTLY the same issue with my crank arm on the side the pedal assist is! Thanks for showing me how to fix it!
Mid-drive motors are bit harder to install, not to mention twice as expensive, but they address every issue you brought up.
Great video. I got a Bafang mid drive. Kit. I love it! I got the same mirror and cushy seat that you have. Super essential!
This was a great video for me coz I wanted an e-bike, and had a pretty good mountain bike. But where I am in SEAsia I can buy a pretty decent e-bike out of the box for the same price as a kit (that still needs battery after that), and I get to keep my original mountain bike as well. And I love the e-bike and optioned it with some fenders and saddle bags and mirrors like you did. Got some vids on grahambkk about it all. Now done 500km and love it. Thanks for sharing your project bike adventures. :)
You didnt factor in the cost of the battery. that is usually more then the kit alone.
And getting a battery that's compatible with the motor you bought is it's own exciting little research project
I talk about the battery a lot in the video about building it …. it was $400 … with the updates since then I probably put $950-$1000 total into the bike… but that involves some upgrades I didn’t need to do, but wanted to do.
Rear wheel drive is fun, but why only power one?
My plans for a more powerful eBike do involve dual wheel drive… but the thing I need to research is how to put brakes that are good enough onto a wheel with a hub motor, cause this current bike pushes the stock brakes to their limit.
We’re did you purchase the bag form?
Search “eBikeling double rear pannier bag” it’s $25 on the eBikeling website (but u have to spend $49 to get free shipping)…. or Amazon it’s $30 (which is free shipping if u have Prime, but otherwise u have to spend $49 as well for non-Prime free shipping)
Get a better bike, and you’d have a lot better luck. I bought a GT aggressor pro and a 2000 watt motor kit. I have almost 1000 miles on it and no problems so far.
