She is the one who inspired me to start volunteering my time to different charities and organizations. Today, volunteering is one of my passions and I love it!
RIP Eunice, we all love you!

I knew Jean Trust and I asked her (shortly before her death 20+ years ago) about what all transpired. She stated she was happy that so many people got more out of life and Eunice had the means/clout to do it. It wasn't about Jean or Eunice it was about the people with disabilities and the enjoyment they got. May they both rest in peace.

It's hard for me to admit how painful it was growing up being called every nasty word because I had a learning disability. Because of the inspiration of being in the Special Olympics when I was a kid I developed a drive to prove myself. Graduating from high school graduating from trade school going to college. Working my way into politics serving the people and also being a civil rights activist not only for people with disabilities but also lgbtq plus people like myself as well as women people of color and everyone else who is marginalized. I have a good life and I'm continuing to push myself. Special Olympics gave that drive to me and so I think Eunice Kennedy Shriver for doing what she did and she will never be forgotten. The best way to remember her is the show The Love and support to disabled people and encourage them to be the best people they can be

Jean Trust started the special olympics in Baltimore. Eunice made it national.

Just because you can't find her on the internet does not mean she didn't live. Some people lives are not on here. You know that does hurt saying no one. Actually it's quite insulting! Something like saying your favor aunt never lived. Jean knew Eunice could take it further/faster. I can not give details on what transpired I was about 5 y/o then. But to sum it up. Means and clout. With that the world is at your disposal. Was true then and it's true today.

IMHO the person who started the special olympics. Not the person with cash and connections to do what they want.
