For someone who consistently complained about people driving on the wrong side of the road in India and "Indians", all it took was a single vehicle queue for you to break the law and turn into something you pretend to "mock" and "hate".

Shouldn't they be warned/cautioned for their safety on the roads there? We hear it can be dangerous for hijacking etc Just a pause for thought.

My wife and I have enjoyed your jouney trough India very much. Because you were driving yourself we've seen lots of interesting things and got an impression from life over there. In our flat some Indian people live and it's nice to know were they come from.
Durban.... I am a bit jealous, I left South Africa and came back to England last year.
I was living in Cape Town and miss it so much. No doubt the "Mother City" will be on your itinerary.
The Garden Route down to CT and up the West Coast toward Namibia are some of the most beautiful spots in the country.
Hermanus, Elgin Valley, Oudtshoorn, Langebaan and Paternoster are all worth a visit, not to mention the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront overlooked by the iconic Table Mountain.
You are in for a good time.
I am glad you are out of India, it didn't seem like fun, maybe not a place to drive around.
I would still like to go visit so the mayhem hasn't put me off.
BTW there is very nice Caravan park in Langebaan on the Lagoon called Leentjiesklip, it's right on the beach. You can see all the way across to Saldanha.
Also on the West Coast, if you enjoy wildlife, maybe visit the Buffelsfontein game and nature reserve, I worked there helping set up the Wildlife Forensic Academy back in 2022.

Hi Brian - we are in fact taking a different route - we will explain as we go - but this will leave us places to visit when we come back (spoiler alert !!)

Be wary of officials that are on the "take".
Secure campsites are preferable to just parking up at random on the roadside.

Not going to lie. The India series was stressful for me to watch. So happy Trudy was not injured in any way. Marianne you are a very skilled driver. I have been to SA twice and have driven the amazing country. You are going love it. The country is stunning and my heart belongs to to Africa. 😮

Trudy been driven against the queues of lorries near the Mumbai port seems like karma when you have shown and commented the Indian vehicles driving against traffic and some seen driving at the wrong side of the road.

OMG - Durban !!! I used to live in Durban (13 years I lived there) I can't wait to see how you guy's get on in joyy Durbs. Lunch at The Oyster Box Hotel in Umhlanga is an absolute must!!! or the Beverley Hills hotel (next door) do a fantastic smorgasbord on a Sunday.
Welcome yo South Africa. I have been following you all over and can not believe you are just 2 hours' drive from me now. You have to come north pas Richards Bay and go to the game reserve Hluhluwe. And we noticed that you showed lots of good things about Turkey and all other countries but in India you never show any nice place or food. Right now you are in Mumbai and It is one of the richest cities in India. But somehow you show only poor neighborhoods. And we are wondering why? Than you. ))))

Thanks for your comment . If you have been following us since we left the Uk in 2020 you will know that we just share our route and experience - When we were in Turkiye we spent 18 months there so had the change to explore the country a lot. After our Visa was denied for China - the pressure was on as we have commitment in the UK this summer. We chose our route across India based on the shipping route - so we arrived in Kolkata and then made a video there then after collecting Trudy we showed our experience of driving across and then down to Mumbai - we did not spend time in mumbai looking at tourist sites we shared a real true overlanding experience and certainly did not look for poor neighbourhoods - we stayed where was practical for our shipping needs. Hope that helps

Well done ! your in a country I know very well. The Roads are good but drivers can be crazy. You have a nice climate. You can also get plenty of Indian food in Durban. Which is host to the largest population of Indians outside India . Try not to miss the Kruger national park and Sun city 😮 aswell as cape town . Plenty to see and do here . Beware of security at all times.

Yes 38 is hot, very hot, here in Thailand the rainy season has now started to everyone’s massive relief, there were a few occasions when it was over 40, unbearable, made worse by the extreme humidity. You have my sympathy, no wonder you made use of decent hotels.
From South Africa there are beautiful options to drive further all the way to Victoria Falls and Angola! I have been driving from Luanda to Livingstone and back again myself. Fantastic roads and scenery and places to stay. Looking forward to the continuation of your journey!

Why didnt't you use Google Translate app (English to Hindi) to to communicate to the weighbridge staff?I use that app all the time, especially while in Japan.
Speedys yard at Mumbai docks, good memories to that guys who loaded your van, i did ship my car in 2022 from there to Port Kelang. I can imagine you had problems getting iranian visa as your are english, if not, you miss the best part of the trip I did from Belgium to Cambodia. Curious how long it took you from arriving in Mumbai, until leaving Durban and being back on the road ??? And how expensive it was. I put some info on ioverlander about Speedys yard. Was also waiting for hours in the same warehouse, hhahahah, keep on rolling !!!
Along your journey you had always highlighting bad road conditions and chaos but downplayed good roads/expressways. Probably you entered Mumbai through Atal Setu, a newly constructed sea bridge but your reaction was dull.
Who would've thought there were multiple options for what you wanted when driving a vehicle onto a weighbridge! Stressful driving - yes 3 Cheers Marianne and hopefully a few days of peace
When you 1st said that you’d be in a country where you could sleep in Trudy, I guessed somewhere in Europe , but then you’d be too close to home. Then I guessed South Africa . and I was right , because the seasons are opposite, so it will be cooler !

Your India trip is incomplete without South India visit. You should have completed your India journey in Chennai or Kochi.
