U.S.A. Made once stood for (ITS) the BEST no Matter Who it was that had there Label on it. A few buddies from my youth had already been collecting TOOLS for Personal USE. I often went with the CRAFTSMEN Brand due to how many stores were in the area and the WIDE Variety at a Reasonable price still. Stayed away from the NO NAMES when ever possible. Long before Harbor Freight was a Wide Spread thing. Tool Trucks were only on a Circuit of High Rollers who were INVESTING with a Bank Roll ( SOMETIMES ) Credit from the Place the Worked for ( HELPING Out ). An Early Boss / Owner of a shop *I* was working at did this 50/50 or 25/75 depending on the exact item and why it was purchased ? ALL that changed when Two Co-Workers got in a spat about a specific Tool that supposedly went missing ( Got Stolen ) The short version is this. One blamed the other *EVEN* though the Person in Question NEVER Labeled ( Engraved ) Any of his tools *Ever* to that point. Turns out the Missing tool showed up on a Field job about two weeks later. With the Initials as it had been marked the day it got purchased. The OWNER and his Accountant ) Son decided THAT was that. NBODY gets nothing going forward. The Accused *QUIT* about a week or so later. The Guy who stayed got $HIT Canned about a month after due to POOR attitude as well. Like the Boy Scout of America Motto (WE) were taught. Be Prepared - A L W A Y S That means Back Ups to back ups. ENGRAVE or Mark ( EVERYTHING ) Nobody is YOUR Friend when Loaned or Borrowed Tools Show up in some others persons House, Stash, Box , or drawers *YOU* were never supposed to remember they had STOLEN from - SADLY... The price YOU paid only works for YOU if Holding onto them or Resale is in the cards - overall still. PERSONALLY YOUR Goal should be to Obtain the best of Each Manufacturer had. Older being far better then just the off the shelf items out there these days. Black and Decker, Then Also had a Professional Line which in turn More or Less became ( De Walt ) as well. Klein, Milwaukee, Bosch, Makita, Ryobi, Master Craft, Ridgid, Kobalt, Husky, ACE, Champion, Bauer, Pittsburgh, ICON, Hercules, True Test, Many of the names have changed *BUTT* what do YOU consider to be the better value ? One of my former employers had a RULE of Thumb for any Prospective Mechanics to be hired. $3,500.oo Minimal With Receipts to PROVE Its Value Thant it got raised to $ 5,000.oo when it turned out some were trying to SCAM the Employment Curve of Name Brands over Pawn Shops and Garage Sale scores, etc. ALOT of Places sell the exact same items these days. Paint it BLUE, RED, YELLOW, GREEN, HELL (ITS) about where its made that should be Front and canter in my book - regardless... GERMAN This , SWEDISH That, HONG KONG, BANGKOK, Great Britian or any one say CANADA ??? Take Any tool you have there. Is it still able to be purchased new ??? Made int eh USA ??? How much would it cost to Replace ? What is Ebay, Market Place, Craigslist , and Amazon got as a Way to Make the grade ? VALUE is NOT a Four Letter Word. CRAP, PI$$, CRUD, $HIT, is... Like a Turd or Lipstick on a pig as an example. WOUDL (I) have paid close to $ 500.oo ??/ That All depends on what else was out there being offered ?!?!?! PRICE to One person is Less about MORE. WHAT it means. NOT who or where it was SCORED...
